One thing to note is the E3 demo seemed to be on an Xbox One based on the on screen button prompts, meaning that 1) MS probably do have the marketing deal for this and 2) the game will probably look/run better than the E3 demo on our PS4s.
Was that a thing in Fallout 3? I don't remember.
Playing through Fallout 2 with low int was a blast:

Probably cloud based rendering will be the reason it will look and run better, MS will cover that in hour or so.

Didn't he say it was running on a console?I'd almost guarantee it was pc with controller prompts. That's very normal at E3.
Nah, I was fine with that personally. And the dialogue for failed checks was hilarious at times.

Are we at the part of the thread yet where we nitpick every little facet of the trailers and suck the enjoyment and fun out of everything? Oh wait that happened 42 pages ago.
Well notice in that gif he is the only one laughing? That's because the rest agree and many do agree that Fallout 3 was better than expansion. Hah
Thanks to Bioware and Bethesda to have dumbed down the dialog system in western rpgs.

I really grew tired of those skill checks appearing in my options when I didn't meet the required level, not only does it rub in your face that in some cases you won't be able to solve the dialogue in the right way but it often leads you to artificially buff your character to pass the skill check, and in some cases it makes absolutely no sense![]()
Well I for one am actually excited for this game.
Lol true, let them remain like my unhappy dwellers(Shelter). This is like waiting for F3 all over again. I remember picking my lunch box at gs, and playing for the rest of the night. I need to update my shipping speed. :/Ha! I noticed that all the way back when the thread started as well.
Some people just refuse to be happy no matter what.
Their choice, I guess.
I'm too busy being thoroughly ecstatic with what Bethesda has shown so far. Guess I have "low standards & expectations" or something, LOL.
Better than having it based on random chance. New Vegas was less about making your character into a master of all who can do everything, and more about specializing in certain skills and missing out on certain branches.
Don't misread me here, I like having them as dialogue options, just not having them show when I can't actually use them cause my skill isn't high enough.
And you know skill checks aren't in, because? Source please. Pretty sure I've had skill checks pop up in the witcher, and that has a similar conversation system.
I don't have a gaming capable PC at the moment either. I was just hoping to stem the flow of whining.
Man.
Man. I want to get excited about customizing my own Power Armor or building my own base, a world that isn't grey and yellow rubble and mud land, or having a less broken VATs and combat. Heck, I was excited seeing a refrigerator that isn't a portal to a spreadsheet.
But then I see those dialogue screens and... fuck, man. It's like they straight up took a scalpel and amputated the best part of Fallout for me, while talking about how much they love the series. I am actually surprising myself by how much this is actually kind of painful.

Most are. It will go on to sell gangbusters into the millions, will be loved and played for years and will likely sweep many GOTY awards as well. What we are seeing here is a storm in a teacup with a minority voicing their concerns, so I would not worry about it.

Worry about what?
I guess you aren't paying attention to the shocked expressions on everyone else's face? Because they're also repulsed by what they're looking at? Way to miss the point of the GIF, just as 3 missed the point of Fallout entirely.

They actually managed to fuck up the dialog system worse than before, people mocked Fallout 3 because the spellchecks involved repeating back what the person just told you but this is just lazy design for the sake of a more streamlined presentation, the rest looks really great and I dont mind the same haircut textures and whack animation, but after New Vegas it became impossible to return to F3-tier dialog, and this is not helping.
Van Buren it is then.

PC mods work on XBO.
Mods on XONE, well that´s big.
Ohhhh, PC mods on Xbox One.
I understand that sometimes the option is not what you wanted to pick. But I also think that less text can be, frankly, a smart choice.
As for people pointing out that older FO games had a lot more text in their selections, that was completely necessary. When your character's entire "conversation" happens in the selection menu, the dev has to put the entire conversation there. But when there is VA, there is less need since the VA is going to be saying everything and more. I hope I conveyed that idea right. But basically VA games need less text, and I think less text is smart.
I definitely recall a few times in ME where I definitely did not want to do or say what shepard actually did or said. But that isn't entirely caused by this kind of system, but perhaps contributed by ineptitude or inexperience.
Personally I am okay with this system. We'll see how well Bethesda does with it when it releases at least.
