So I can simply put my Xbox 360 game into an Xbox One and it'll start playing? This is awesome.
Kind of, you put the game in, it then downloads it, then you can play it

It's certainly better than nothing, but the online requirement and incomplete library are huge negatives for me. Relying on publishers to approve games you already own is incredibly dumb.

how do we know this? the guy on stage said "100 games will work by launch" and "thanks to the power of xbl" i'm not taking sides here, i just don't believe native emulation is possible. I'd be asking the same questions if sony were making the claims too
They announced that you can play old games on a new system, so they won? Come on...
Yeah lol wow you can now play your old games. I want new ones.
BC has never really been a huge factor in sales. It might help slightly and win a few people sitting on the fence, but I don't see it making a huge difference. Most people buy a new system to play new games, not games they played a generation ago.Gaf is not the best place to judge this stuff .
BC can help with sales but how big is the question .
No I'm already correct, you may not like the truth.Keep repeating yourself. That will make you correct.

I think it will, I know a lot of people who hasn't upgraded to PS4/X1 because of no BC, this makes it a easier choice if you own 360 games. This is great, even if it doesn't affect sales much it's still a great thing to add.
I never understood why people are so crazy over BC. Them adding BC to XB1 is awesome but I already have a 360 and I could buy one for like 70 bucks. Its convenient, but I'd rather play new games.
There are some abolutely timeless 6th gen games (WW, Halo 2/CE, RE4, F-Zero GX, Silent Hill 3, etc), but most 7th gen games look great and online functions for currently active 7th gen games extends their longevity. Games from the 7th gen and up will be far more playable into the future than their predecessors due to technical quality and online gaming where applicable (fighting games from 7th gen in particular still get tons of play).I'm not sure this is huge yet. 360 BC with original Xbox died down so fast
If we were all in the minority, then they'd have had no reason to actually put this feature in. The fact that they did means 1 of 2 things - either A) People have actually asked for it, multiple times, enough for them to try and figure out how to make it work, or 2) they wanted to give this extreme minority you're speaking of hard-ons.
Somehow, I doubt B is the correct answer.
Xbox Won
I'm not even exaggerating. Kudos to MS on the bomb dropped. Hopefully future consoles strongly focus on building a software ecosystem like Steam has. I would still get a PS4 for myself, but I'd definitely recommend an Xbone to anyone who asks me for a recommendation.

This is a gesture of good will, not a strategy to outsell anyone. But if you wanna believe it's some megaton system seller event then go ahead and put it on the chalkboard.
Considering how the PS3 launched with full access to the entire PS2 library and it struggled out of sales gate (for a lot of reasons, obviously), I kind of think he might be right. Backwards compatibility is definitely welcomed, but I don't know if this will move that many more units.
