As someone with no real nostalgia for Sony franchises, this seemed like a hype grab. TLG looks the same from 7 years ago. 7. Years. Explain how this is exciting. Sony isn't even funding Shenmue III, but they'll sure as hell take the hype for it and plug a friggin Kickstarter campaign. I mean why doesn't Nintendo Kickstart F-zero? And Ice Climbers, and Pikmin, and Zelda? The fans will pay for it, must be a good idea hurr durr. No. This is a multimillion dollar international corporation at the biggest conference in the world for arguably their most valuable division and they're plugging a Kickstarter. Am I dreaming? My brain hurts.

I kind of echo Giant Bombs thoughts. They threw all the crowd-pleasers at us but kind of overlooked important things such as their sparse 2015 line-up and Morpheus details. Microsoft's seemed more immediately interesting.

Oh hey, was Firewatch a PS4 exclusive? It looked pretty dang cool too

Also on PC.

Sorry if this have been asked before, but is there a digital file for this so I can get one made? Or one I can buy?

Unfortunately it ALL leaked before the show, and all the interesting games seem ages from release. That really put a damper on my enjoyment.
That said, the lady guardian is finally happening, and in spite of liking the same, it's beautiful.
Horizon may be good but good does she talk to much.
Great show by Sony.

The Last Guardian looks good, but the repetitive calls from the kid kind of got annoying. Everything else is stunning.

Can't believe I fell asleep lol.

I thought it was the opposite? Last week we were criticizing the gaming press for just being corporate shills or whatever and just reposting corporate PR. Now they hate videogames and are always down on everything?

What I'm feeling is a loss of "for the love of gaming". Instead of analyzing the horizon gameplay mechanics or how different Halo will feel with AI squad tactics it's all "not really into this", but what's coming in 2015 Sony you gonna get killed", "oh great another _____ we haven't had enough of those. Listen to 1upyours old E3 podcast one moment that stands out is Luke Smith dissecting a Lost Planet demo, it just sounds exciting. For the love of gaming. Got no real problem with the people of the gaming press just think they are focusing on the wrong topics.

That being said loved the Horzion demo the movement the destructible environments and the main character cannot wait to see more.

Even if one ignores the 'weight' of the dream-come-true announcements, those were still content admirable of a good E3:

I mean, let's talk the big stuff, we've got:

First Party:
Horizon
TLG
Dreams
Rig (Morpheus)

Third-Party:
World of FF
FFVII:R (timed exclusive)
Shenmue 3 (console exclusive)

4 first-party announcements, 3 of them AAA-caliber announcements.
3 third-party announcements, 2 that aren't timed.

5 high-calibre announcements is pretty decent for an E3. There is no E3 where publishers announce a gazillion exclusives.

So your saying that this conference was only used to generate hype for the Sony brand...intriguing, tell me more.

Is there any conceivable way Shenmue 3 costs 2 mil to make? That's why I think Sony is paying something along the way. Seems too low of a number for a game these days.

What do you mean no? What the hell do you mean no?? I'D KICKSTART THE SHIT OUT OF FZERO.

Now I'm mad at Nintendo for not doing something like that. Gah!

People are getting too excited for name brands and thinking these shows are legendary. Shit is all smokes and mirrors. When you peel the announcements away, we are still a long ways from seeing a lot of these games in playable form.

Marketing at its best.

Uncharted as last game was a let down only because it's an already known game. Other than that and no Persona obviously it was a great show. If they had gotten a trailer for a new Rockstar game to end it that would have been perfect.

GameTrailer's reactions from 09:46:00 are incredible: http://www.twitch.tv/gametrailers/v/6205951?t=586m0s

"Is this FF7? It can't be... Nope, it's 14. Phew. 7 is dead guys. It's never happening."

Followed almost immediately by the team losing their shit.

Followed almost immediately by the Shenmue 3 announcement where they lose their shit again.
GT has got me as a subscriber now.

Good riddance grumpy grandpas at Giant bomb.

So why is it ps4 console exclusive then? If it's so trivial why didn't MS just fund it? Or Nintendo? Because they didn't want to bother apparently but it's too late now, not sure how this could be a bad thing, Sony came out and gave million dollar exposure that's what they did...
Zelda really? Did you see sony out there kickstarting killzone?

Sony had everything. Even if their 1st party line up for the rest of the year is weak, they'll fill the gaps with Destiny,AC,COD and BF deals. And Uncharted Collection is going to sell a lot of units. Then FFVII, S3 and TLG has got the core excited.

Loved Horizon BTW.

First FF7 RE, then Shen-fucking-Mue 3!
Together with Bloodstain (Sotn style) that was record breakingly funded.... I felt like my childhood just flashed before my eye lol.

Sony just sold me a PS4, even when I know perfectly well that I will NOT have time to play these games properly, I just have to buy them to show support.

It seems like NeoGAF has a strong love of the old PlayStation, whereas Reddit doesn't. It's like watching mirrors. One loves the confefence, the other hates it.

Not to throw the wrench in, but I wouldn't be surprised if a massive number of those Redditors were shills. Even GAF had its own cleansing of them, with Bish stating that the majority came from one particular side/platform...and that's with GAF account verification et all.

It isn't about the $2nil. It's the number of people contributing.

Number of people contributingx$60 is a measure of demand. Budget that Sony ponies up to help Yu will adjust accordingly.

From 7-8 years I've seen each E3 Sony conference. This year not. When I didn't they announced TLG, FF7R and my biggest love, desire and always believing Shenmue3. Yes, I am unlucky type of man. Gulp.

Sony sure did show a lot of good games that aren't coming out this year.

So like every Sony press conference ever?

Sony on average, announces anywhere from 15-20 games every year (inc.third-party exclusives, smaller digital first-party games, and remasters/ports). We're lucky if more than 5 of them are for the year it was announced.

I get being disappointed that Sony's Q4 isn't very strong for a certain group of people. But Sony's never done the whole "announce and release in 6 months stick" for their biggest games, and obviously they've not changed that approach.

yeah ok $5 mill was silly, its 5.35am in England and Ive been up all night,

and the kickstarter is already at 1.2mill.

if 1 million people donated $30 each thats 30 mill which is pretty insane.

The more I think about it, 2 million seems to be low balling it doesent it? I would if yu suzuki is prepared to do a $20 million+ project?

When I peel back the nuke announcements, I see I get to play the SF5 beta next month. That's pretty fucking hype to me.

Same thing! I've watched for years with bated breath, and the first time in years that I was doing something else, the bombs came heavy!

I can see it... The not too distant future. Every conceivable project from every developer in existence is on Kickstarter. Only the 3 highest funded are developed each year. Power of the people. Democracy in action.

Fucking kill me now
