Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

I wish they would add different hair styles or something. It is cool all the clothes and stuff, but every body really just looks exactly the same.

You and me both. I just went from B+ to B-. I'm on an 11 game losing streak.

I went from B+ all the way down to C+ three different times. I'm on rank B right now, and ranked is pretty much all I play. I haven't touched Turf War in like 3 days.

I have a simple rule for myself when playing ranked: when\if I lose twice in a row I stop playing ranked for the night. What happens to me in ranked is if I lose two in row I start to get annoyed, and that makes me play like shit then I just lose constantly after that and I'll end up losing like 15 games in a row.

Hmm trying to practice with the gyro controls but I cant seem to get used to them.

It took me a bit of getting used to when I first got the game and then the other day I was playing another 3rd person game on my PC and I started tilting my 360 controller around.

Oh dude I saw your post, thanks for listing off what you had for clothing with bomb range up but I found something

Don't you just love it when the opposing team has two or three absolutely amazing players and the the game never once puts them on your team

Also as annoyed as I can get with this game sometimes I love seeing people in the inkopolis plaza who are like level 4 or 5 making enthusiastic posts about splatoon. It's cute

I did it with The Last of Us. And the FFXV demo and it's not even a shooter. Gyro's a hell of a drug.

I just can't seem to find a weapon I like. Well, that's not true. I like rollers, but I have a hard time making them work in ranked matches. I need something versatile that I can use. I tried using chargers, but using them without gyro is somewhat difficult, so I'm trying to practice at gyro but that's proving difficult as well.

What kind of problems do you run into as a roller in ranked? Is it a specific weapon that's giving you trouble? Also what perks are on your gear and what roller are you using?

For the roller... some games I'm fine, but some I'm not.
When you get in situations where the enemy has hold of the zone, with chargers perched up, I find it can be hard to break in as a roller because your range is so limited.
For perks I have Ninja Jump and the other Ninja one. Hat is ink saving I think.

That is a very diffucult scenario for any weapon to break alone. You need the assistance of your teammates to break through that. Then again, I'm imagining Urchin Underpass as the stage.

Blue has a good point. It's possible but it won't be easy.

One way I would deal with this is try to get the charger off his perch and get him from there. One way is throw a bomb up there and force him to move. Another way I would try to take him out is ink a bunch of area towards him with your ink fling ability, and slowly approach him. This will be hard if he's trying to cover up while you're flinging it or if he has teammates to cover it for him. The most important thing for you to do is stay out of his line of sight. Some maps will be easier to do this than others. Places like mall or underpass will be hard because the charger can get a view of all entry points. I'd advise you to give rank mode a break when maps like these are in the rotation.

Honestly, I don't like the ninja squid jump. It's great for sneaking up on an enemy after they killed your team, but it puts you in an awkward situation that would likely lead you to your death anyways. I think there are better perks out there like swim speed or ink resistance. That's up to you if you want to experiment with that.

Two new weapons arrive tomorrow morning for free in #Splatoon: the L-3 Nozzlenose and the Custom E-litre 3K!

Squidsauce

need the sub/special weapons info, asap (judging by the red arrow on the tank in the screenshot, the Custom E-Liter also has splat bombs?)
also, does the Noozlenose look like yet another splattershot-type weapon?

Well if it was one on one it isn't usually too bad, but I often find my teammates to be somewhat unreliable, leading me to be rather often fighting one on two or three, which is why I want a weapon that's a bit more versatile.
One game I played today, the top 3 players on the other team had 18 kills, 15 kills, and 12. Two guys on my team had 3 and 0. We are all the same rank. What can I do? It gets to be frustrating at times.

Maybe it's a seeker or a wall.

Taking a break or switching lobbies is the best advice I can offer. Playing 1v4 or 2v4 is stupid hard. Which roller do you use?

The Nozzlenose is being released this week?! Dammit!! I want to try that weapon and I won't be able to until next week.

Hopefully the Carbon Roller releases on a week where I don't work. I'm eager to see what that thing can do.

I was using dynamo roller, just because the range is high. But it runs out of ink pretty damn fast. I used to use the roller you get at level 7 or so, the one with the Kraken special. That worked well for me in casual.

RE: Mario Sunshine in Splatoon

Surely I can't be the only one not a fan of this idea people keep trying to spread. Sunshine is about cleaning up ink, the complete opposite of Splatoon. What next, requesting Link with the wind bellows? At least ask for Bowser Jr's brush than the FLUDD.

A nice hint towards other series is OK, like the sprite art or the KoG t-shirts, but keep out the Sunshine stuff.

Also that final art is not even trying to be real. It's obvious fan art sometime has printed out and photographed at an angle.

Using gyro with the rollers might be a good idea. It really helps for quick movements and quickly adjusting the direction of your flicks. Are you using the Gold Dynamo or the vanilla Dynamo? Which maps do you have trouble with when you get in that scenario?

I actually misjudged the picture. The custom E-Liter is definitely going to have Burst Bombs. No other special takes up that small amount of ink. The other one looks to be inspired by the Gal or Squelcher weapons.

I don't think I have the Gold one. I'm rank 19.
The map I was having the most trouble with earlier was Arowana Mall.

it would be kind of weird do have the same weapon twice, just with another special. I have a feeling that the screenshot isn't from the final version, every other deco/costum weapon has different subs and specials

seekers would be fun but I'm not sure how useful they are with the E-Liter, you have maybe one fully charged shot before you run out of ink, same with the Wall. I think the special could be Inkstrike, no other charger has that one yet. Or the Kraken, I take Kraken too

Sprinkler and echolocator, right? While I haven't used the Dynamo too much, you gotta remember that the range is stupid long. I remember a Dynamo that would camp on the flower pots on the ramp and flick paint onto the zone. Worked pretty well, especially since that area is pretty much out of the Charger's line of sight. If your teammates are competent at all, waiting to go as a group might pay off. Just try and lob paint onto the zone while waiting for a teammate. Once you get the Gold Dynamo, you'll have more options vs Chargers. You might have some luck assaulting the Chargers from the walkways if they don't notice you. Chargers tend to freak out the closer you get to them. The hard part is dealing with sneaky enemies that ambush you when you try to ambush one of them. This is where you have to wait for at least 1 other teammate. If anything, they'll be used as a distraction while you attempt to take out the Charger. Even then, you still have to deal with the other 2 or 3 enemies that are still alive.

Chargers can have a hard time with the Squelcher weapons. Have you tried those? The one with the Inkwall might just help you be aggressive enough to break the enemy grip on the zone in the mall by invading the Charger's perch, which then gives you free shots at the zone.

Sorry if I'm not helpful. I'm actually getting really tired right now.

The map I was having the most trouble with earlier was Arowana Mall.

Arowana Mall is the best map for chargers, there are many places where they can "safely" snipe from and all routes towards them force you to go through a narrow corridor where they have all the advantage. If you can take them from below with the ink flinch always go for that first, it will either force the charger to retreat or to get closer towards the edge, exposing himself more. Take detours, use the walls, walk on enemy ink so they can´t see you coming in the map...If a charger sees you, jump, move around, zig zag and try to escape. Only engage if the charger user has failed to put distance between you two.

But yeah, I play as charger and in Arowana Mall I have a ridiculous advantage as long as I don´t screw up. As a roller, you shouldn´t be really trying to take the snipers down, that job should be for someone else in your team with a more capable weapon. You can join him however, chargers have it rough when outnumbered due to the need of charging shots.

Summarizing: attack from below or team up with someone.
