Uncharted 4: A Thief's End Gameplay (E3 2015)

Some people won't see why people love certain games. I don't think explaining will help much. Their minds are usually set.

If I were to go to a Madden thread and made a post about how I don't get why people enjoy the game and I think it's bland, would you be able to convince me otherwise?

I doubt it.

Gameplaywise, this stole the show...Everytime I thought Drake would have to follow a linear path/road block, NO, he had so many ways of getting to his destination, even breaking a fence too, driving over a roof etc.. Naughty are at the top of their game here, RAD, you could learn a thing or two here. Amazing sequence.

The quick clip in the sizzle reel?

Slowed it down quite a bit because it's so short.

Motorstorm's spiritual successor.

Amazing how after seeing Battlefront, Horizon, and the Ghost Recon gameplay trailers, I was literally saying "holy shit" at the graphics while watching this. It's the physics and destructibility that sells the world, with great lighting and IQ on top of that. Impressive. Oh, and the animations and banter between Nate and Sully.

I wasn't very excited about this game (though I loved U1&2) so I only watched the demo just now. Jaws were dropping, holy crap. Naughty Gods ate Tomb Raider alive.

Looked great. Maybe not as mindblowing as UC2 was back then, but great nonetheless. ND doing what they do best, amazing setpieces without wrestling the control away from the player with cutscenes and QTEs.

Uncharted 2 is in my Top 5 games of all time. But seriously, I think Naughty Dog is 'Holding back' remember in the interview he said that in Uncharted 3 they spoiled too much .

I am genuinely shocked at the positive reception here. The graphics look nice but the gameplay was incredibly conservative and unremarkable.

The driving sequence...Not even sure what's the point ?

Keep moving forward through a hyper linear section where you can't even shoot.

People keep shitting on COD/Creed for being tired but this is exactly the case with UC4.

I suppose as a whole package its fun ,but this was standard western AAA gameplay right here.

Probably good its the last one.

Hyper linear... I...what?

I must say it had way more impact on me than UC2.

Play Uncharted 3, Its good , I really don't know why people knock it down.

2 was an impossible act to follow but 3 is still a very solid game in its own right.

Hell Get the Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection on PS4 and Play the Trilogy before 4 comes out and get the Beta for 4.

Absolutely gorgeous game, really impressive on a technical level and looked so much fun to play. I loved the opening where it looked like they were going to open the door onto some sort of tomb but it opened into the market place. The environmental destruction was impressive too, they did show bits in the announcement trailer but there wasn't a great deal of it there due to to the environment, hope it carries across to all parts of the game.

There seemed to be all sorts of stuff going on graphically, looking forward to getting a proper teardown from somewhere like DF. Are there any videos of the Nathan Drake Collection? Not been able to find any but they must have something at E3.

Been trying to imagine what this engine will do to the follow up to The Last of Us on PS4.

I'm just not compelled to post in threads about things I have no interest in. I'm not sure why they feel the need to.

Open world games can have good set pieces. For example, GTA V is also an open world game and it has a lot of cool and action-packed set pieces. If ND is already good at making set pieces, I guess it won't matter them that much when they develop an open world game. Not that I hate ND's linear games, I just want to see them do something new. In other words, I want to see them expanding XD

But the set pieces in GTA are all in missions, all of which have linear structure, as in you don't really stray from the path often.

The demo was CGI, right? ...right ?

This and Battlefront, it is just beautiful. No other words. It's not realistic, it has a Pixar-like art style that I really love.

Motorstorm's spiritual successor.

I'd like to see what a PS4 Motorstorm with the new lighting and particules engines would look like.

Have you compared gunfights and chase scenes in other franchises to this one? In COD, Killzone etc, these segments really are linear and often far more constricted. Here it's a little more dynamic and exciting.

Regarding gunplay, things are frenetic and there's lots of player maneuverability permitted, there's also a tonne of destructability in cover and environmental objects, a range of different types of cover, and overall very satisfying and well blended animations, be they melee combat, or the way Drake interacts with the environment, cover or weapons. Then there's the hit detection, controls and weapon feedback itself.

Moving on to the chase scene, the multiple paths and route diversions, the visuals, the amount of destructability, the satisfying physics of the vehicle and it's exaggerated handling, the constant changes in elevation, surfaces, scenery, the tension introduced with the ever present threat from the armored vehicle, the pacing, the overall scale, the way it seamlessly integrates in to the next gameplay segment (him grappling on to the moving crane, from his already moving jeep) etc, it all just feels that little bit more nuanced, polished and well executed than typical of such segments in other games, and this was a shortened version of the chase sequence. The full thing is longer and even more dynamic.

The game is extremely polished graphically.I totally agree 100%

but honestly I fail to see anything that hasn't been done before that isn't related to graphics.

TPP's gameplay on the other hand seems like a true evolution of the MGS franchise for example.

This is exactly uncharted 2/3 with a shiny coat of paint. Its not a bad thing but its far from original or ground breaking as this thread makes it to be.

My guess is you're constantly moving, you don't get to control gas, break and reverse like normal. I guess like a runner game. I guess all paths lead down.

I'm wondering if you actually can turn around and go back up, or what if you didn't jump the stairs and instead stayed going to the right of the monument?

im 100% sure that you are wrong.

The game is looking fantastic. But I wonder if it will really be released Spring 2016. Was expecting a set date by the end of the gameplay video, but just '2016'. =/

Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain is probably going to be my GOTY 2015.

But come on , I mean do you really think they will blow the big guns after Neil Druckmann said that Uncharted 3 blew way too much.

Introducing Stealth-(Fade in Fade out). Driving - YOU ARE IN CONTROL . Grapple Hook.

Since you are so unimpressed and meh by this demo though , Please share with us what kind of game in which you've seen an action sequence like this done better.(Uncharted 2 not allowed :) )

Best demo I've seen from today so far.
Looks great. Hard to believe it wasn't ready for this year.

I think watching this footage really puts The Order into context. I mean, RAD repeatedly said that they wanted to emulate Uncharted 2, but they did a pretty poor job of it and the pacing and set-pieces were positively uninteresting compared to this. And I say this as a relative fan of The Order.

Hmm. Uncharted has never had a combat-situation as open and with as many balanced choices as what was shown in the first Uncharted 4 demo.

There are a lot of small design improvements that add up in a big way here.

YUp, it is Uncharted evolved, but still uncharted. There are other IPs to explore other gameplays. People expect more Uncharted here. And ND is delivering.

Eidos must be kinda glad their show off Tomb Raider first. imagine if their press conference is after Sony and we already see Uncharted 4, that TR demo would fall really flat.

The only Uncharted I've ever played is Golden Abyss (never owned a PS3),but after that video I am hyped as hell for this game, like through the roof hyped. The game looked absoloutely incredible, even visuals aside.

I can't wait for October 9th now either, it'll give me a chance to play through all three of the original games before this releases.

Also, I should really go back and finish Golden Abyss in the meantime.

Its not meh.It looks great and probably feels great ,but nothing stood out as unexpected is what I am saying.

Grappling hook looks straight out of TR btw ,but lets NOT go down that(ultimately opinion based) rabbit hole.

I think Horizon was far more impressive and interesting than UC4.That boss battle with the dino-robot!

Despite how amazing this looked, still didn't beat Horizon for GOTS for me. What a year 2016 for Sony's WWS, but this year, third party is definitely taking the front seat.

I can't agree with that at all. No chase scene in a game has been done like that before. Sure it is taking a standard formula, but it raised it to the next level. Sure, I can understand it if you are not into these types of games, but saying it is doing nothing new...

Looks like Huma and Compute are getting put to work. The Physics is no longer a post processing effect, and actually seems to be able to affect gameplay now.

This is another level yet again. TLOU stealth with more open levels (as showcased last year) and then these insane UC-trademark rollercoaster moments in a single game, maaannnnn. They are really pushing some boundaries here I think.

Also, does anybody want an online racing component after seeing that insane car chase? Seems like a separate mode with some smaller scale Motorstorm-type of races could be great.

Hit 60 fps and you can have my first born as a sacrifice to Naughty Gods

No way we are getting that. Maaaaybe unlocked (optional?) and it hitting 60 at certain levels or a dynamic fps (I would not like that), but this scale and with this amount of destruction and TLOU a.i.? I do not believe that will happen.

But then again, we did get TLG/FFVII:R/SIII at one show, so anything seems possible from now on, lol.

Anyone got a gif when Drake was hiding behind those sandbags?

The sandbags were getting smaller after sand came out from the bullet holes. Awesome stuff.
