Just watched it. Nice anouncements, particularly The Last Guradian (I can't wait to play it, I loved ICO and SotC).

Surprised they didn't say anything about the Bloodborne DLC.

Funny to see people complaining about Sony relying on third-parties/remakes with no release dates when Microsoft did almost the same. The only thing in terms of novelty that Microsoft really did was backwards compatibility, which is something everyone should expect. The "we can't run these games because of the old architecture" apology shouldn't run free when you have emulation on your corner.

To each their own, I'd guess. People on both sides will twist and turn to get their sense of entitlement. Can't really fault them, though.

Great Job Sony
You listened to our words and requests and dreams even the most absurd and outdated ones.
You were bold and heartful.
For once you trusted us more than stastistics and data.
Hope we will be up to it

I should qualify that by saying it's the biggest megaton for me.

Well in that case you're very much in the minority.

Even people who aren't interested in the 3 big ones Sony dropped will be appreciative of the enormity of the announcements. Well, that is, provided you are a level-headed individual.

I thought the MS conference was good, a big improvement over the old days. But it was lacking any real "holy shit!" moments, whereas Sony had like 4 of them.

Hoping for some cool stuff from Nintendo today. Its been a great E3 so far.

The three big "megatons" from Sony did absolutely nothing for me so I'd have to disagree with this.

Backwards Compatibility was the biggest megaton of E3 so far.

Even though BC is not as good as I'd hoped it'd be...Yeah for me personally it did more than Sony's conference. Not to say Sony's was bad, but it definitely wasn't geared towards me.

No. I'm not gonna get excited for other people. Especially since the remake is of a game I dislike.

Couldn't deal with GAF last night (servers still struggling, I suppose). Definitely a conference to be remembered. It's nice to see TLG and Shenmue III rise from the grave, even if I've never been that into those franchises. Horizon and Uncharted look great, and the third party stuff is obviously a huge slap across MS' face. I was positively surprised that they did not spend too much time on other multimedia stuff or morpheus demos on stage.

That said, I really wish we would have more tangible information on their big projects. Right now, it looks as though there is nothing substantial coming from them until UC4, which is almost a year off at this point. As for the big 3, while intrigued, I think it's best not to get too excited until we know a little more, even if simply acknowledging their existence is a momentous feat in and of itself.

Overall, this was easily the strongest conference so far. It would have been better if they'd had more short term reasons to buy a PS4, or if they had given us more details on some of the other games shown, but it's certainly well above the rest this year.

Yes, the old architecture argument was pathetic.

Anobody disappointed by the morpheus part in the conference

It would've been nice to have seen more, but at the same time, VR is something that's not going to translate very well into plain video. So I guess I can understand why they didn't show more.

Anobody disappointed by the morpheus part in the conference

Yeah, lack of price and release date for that and HoloLens was dumb. Not taking that stuff seriously yet anyway, despite the Minecraft demo being the only thing in the entire conference that captured anyone's imagination.

90% of the games they announced or showed will likely be released in the next year or so. In-fact, there's only two that I can see being beyond 2016, Shenmue 3 and Final Fantasy VIIR, so I don't really get the years away complaint.

That's his point. The big announcements other than horizon are years away. Shenmue is targeting 2017. They just started on FF7 and TLG needs no explanation.

Do you ever see a conference where games get announced 2 plus years before they are expecting to release? No delayed but planned?

Sony threw a ton of hype games out there that have no true release date to cover the fact they are limited in the near term. A conference is about what you can play soon. Not maybe play in two years

Thats all I was trying to say. Even at MS' conference, doesn't matter. Or Ninty. It huge, for gamers and gaming in general.

I never told you to get excited. There is a big difference between appreciating something and getting excited for something. Don't get it twisted.

I couldn't care less about backwards compatibility. I'm not interested in it for my PS4 and if I had an Xbox One I wouldn't bother with it either.
I plan to sell my 360 and the 70+ games I have for it. I haven't turned it on since I got Dark Souls 2 for it. If I was desperate to play Dark Souls 2 again i would buy the remaster. I have more games for the PS4 than I have time to play them, and the stuff coming out now and in the next 12 months or so looks so much better than the last gen stuff I have no interest in replaying stuff I'm already done with.

If this was still the first year the Xbone and PS4 were out I could understand people caring because in the first year games were a bit more sparse.

The only thing in the Microsoft conference I saw that I thought was interesting was the Rare game. I've always found Halo a bit dull and was never that fussed over GOW though so, yeah.

Did you follow sony's e3 last generation ? (the 4 first years if not more)
Because it's old sony we get here.
Big attractive list with as big wait.

So, since there are no videos linked in the OT:

Anyone got a link to the full Sony press conference? Had to sleep during the event so I wanna catch up now! Got up 30 minutes early before work today just so I could have a quick look at what has been announced and shit seems crazy!

They did more than just save it.

Overrated? Fucking backwards compatibility is overrated?

Wow.

It's always a subjective thing but I'm sure Microsoft mentioned a couple of years ago that not even 10% of all installed 360s even use the BC of original xbox titles. While this feature is surely great form some, it simply hasn't the impact to the masses. Games is what sell systems.

Happy that sony showed a lot of restraint with sales talk, services and Morpheus. Gave them room to show so much content.

I get the argument that so much of what they showed was 2016, but we are getting halfway through 2015 and we need to know what's coming next. Sony does have the weaker 2nd half of the year but they have the same third party content Microsoft does. Gamers can't really go wrong either way with games this year but Sony's 2016 is really impressive.

If anyone actually scores Microsoft's conference higher than Sony, I really believe there may be some sort of delusion involved.

The Microsoft conference was a snooze fest with nothing groundbreaking announced, save for Rare's pirate game.

Sony didn't wipe the floor with them, they buried the carcasse.

Just unbelievable and it will be talked about for years to come.

A masterclass of a conference.
I have no interest in Japanese games like FF or Shenmue. I own SOTC on PS3 and it never clicked with me. The gameplay feels like a chore. So I think MS and Sony rank about even. No delusion needed.

I've had a whole night of rest to clear my head and see things more clearly. Now I can realistically grade this conference and not be taken in by just sheer insane internet destroying hype. My thoughts on the conference have changed a little ...

.....

HA

Yeh thats bullshit. Still the hypest conference I've ever seen and I'm pretty sure I've just about seen all of them. Just pure gaming bliss damn near from start to finish. The other conferences maybe had 1 great moment ... maybe. This conference had ..... 7? Shenmue, FFVII-R, TLG, Horizon, No Mans Sky, Uncharted 4, Media Molecule. Was just fantastic. Was exactly what E3 is supposed to be. A series of moments that really showcase what gaming is all about. From the most over the top shit you can imagine like in Horizon or Media Molecule to the most mainstream like Call of Duty or Battlefront and to shit that was only thought imaginable in peoples dreams like in one fucking night seeing Shenmue III and FFVII-R getting announced not long after opening the show with The Last Guardian.

There was actually a ton missing from the actual conference. We will see what appears on the show floor. But I did not see Rime, The Tomorrow Children, WiLD, The Witness, Persona 5, Level 5's project, Sony's first party JRPG, Deep Down, Dragons Dogma Online, etc. etc. And this year they really didn't have an indie showcase section of the show, which was surprising.

And despite all that, which would generally mean I'm bummed as hell. Nah, hypest conference ever. Between Uncharted 4 and Horizon and Dream, the PS4 truly has the next-gen visuals thing on lockdown. Uncharted 4 was technically mind blowing. Horizon was visually mind-blowing. Just downright amazing showing from Horizon, which I thought MIGHT be a short teaser trailer with in-game engine. But nah, we get a whole demo section with massive amounts of gameplay. Hell the other conferences were showing less from games coming out much sooner. Was amazing.

Amazing conference. A+++++++++++++++

Bethesda - D+ ( was downright bad until the crafting of Fallout 4 shown )
EA - D- ( really only saved by Unravel and PvZGW2 )
Ubisoft - B-
Microsoft - C-
Sony - A+

Can't wait to see what Square-Enix do at their own show, first one ever.

Overrated? Fucking backwards compatibility is overrated?

Wow.
Sort of? I have yet to play a Wii game on my Wii U. Never played an Xbox game on my 360. I think I played Persona 4 on my PS3, but that was it. I guess I got some use out of the feature the first year of the PS2's release, but once quality PS2 games started hitting the pipeline, I promptly forgot all about it.

This is all anecdotal of course, but I have a feeling my experiences closely mirror those of the majority. Backwards compatibility is a nice feature, and given the option of having it or not, sure, I'll take it. But it's not a game-changer.

Since I don't care about FF and TLG my +/- list may be a little different :)

+ Horizon is the best new IP introduced in a long time
+ Uncharted 4 looks great
+ I'm happy about new Devolver indies making their way to PS4

- no Gran Turismo 7
- no Last of Us 2
- nothing interesting concerning Morpheus

Overall I'd say that was an excellent showing by Sony.

I could have done without the Morpheus segment, but I appreciate they kept it limited with what was a must show device for them. The Disney Toys segment was cringe worthy bad, especially the guy doing it.

What excites me most is all the exclusives have me excited and the cross console games I am looking forward to the most have Sony exclusive content for me to enjoy. Icing on it all is the number of other games they could have shown but didn't, so much future ammo it is great (Persona 5, Kingdom Hearts 3, FF XV, Gran Turismo, Ratchet and Clank, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Rime, tons of Indies I want)

Best part of it all was the diversity of what they are offering. Instead of 5 versions of shooters, they have nearly all the major genres covered with compelling content.

Console exclusive Hype

Last Guardian - 95
Horizon - 100
No Man Sky - 85
Dreams - 70 (just not confident it can deliver, but if it does +20 hype)
FF7 Redo - 90
World of FF - 75 (not enough known to pump hype yet)
Shenmue 3 - 90
SFV - 70 (not into the game, but will be great I am sure for those who are)
UC4 - 100

there are also the facts that halo, forza, gears once again received the spotlight, and that hololens was a fake demo...

Oh right. So someone can't be more excited about Halo, Forza and Gears than Uncharted, Shenmue and Last Guardian?

We've all got to think those are more exciting just because they were shown for the first time, right?
