Sony started strong...finished strong with Uncharted but a good 3/4 of that conference was: first on consoles, premiere trailer, fund this game for us cause we don't want to pay for it ourselves and we have timed or exclusive dlc. OH and Vita IS DEAD

You really think Shenmue 3 will cost 2 mil? Hahahha

10/10. Even if TLG, Schenmue, or FFVII isn't your thing, it was just fun watching Sony gleefully give so many loyal fans what they've been waiting for all these years.

I love Kyle Bosman, his enthusiasm is so endearing and contagious. Compare that gif to the morose cynicism on the Giant Bomb stream.

I had to turn off their streams because they were such downers the entire time. I honestly don't know why Jeff even covers games anymore as he seems almost incapable of enjoying anything without a thick level of ironic detachment.

Sony is probably paying for it. That game is not being made on 2mil,or even 5. The kickstarter is to give executives a viewing how it may be received so they can justify giving it the real development cost and marketing.

While I don't know if Sony is necessarily funding it, I think you're right. Some people here are crazy if they think Shenmue will be developed with a $2-5 million budget. It's just a way to gauge interest and show shareholders or potential publishers that there's a demand for this game.

What was the budget for the first two Shenmues again? Like 100 million?

What are you TALKING about?

WHY would this not be in? Of all the nonsense people talk about No Man's Sky, this is the one that illustrates just how clearly people have no idea what they're talking about.

Giant universe generators like this aren't even unique to No Man's Sky, they've been around for ages. It's just far more visual in this version. There is NOTHING lofty about the claim they're making. It's actually the simplest part of their whole fucking thing.
I would suggest checking the post history before replying. Saving me tons of time :)

God damn, this conference was amazing. We also have to remember that they got a lot of announcements out of the way pre E3, like Ratchet and Clank, which usually gets screen time. And they kept VR pretty short. Damn...

Sony has so much left for future shows it is ridiculous.

Plus, they didn't spend the majority of their time on Morpheus like many feared. They do need to prove why I would prefer to play a game like Rigs through Morpheus rather than on my TV. Nothing they showed looked impossible with a traditional set up.

I guess there is no way for them to do that other than getting you to try it which is probably why it's playable on morpheus at E3. It's probably possible on a traditional TV though.

When Sony began to tease TLG and the crowd began to cheer, the sheer amount of happiness that I saw on these forums had me choking up. Truly a legendary conference. Bravo Sony, bravo.

This will be remembered as one of, if not the best E3 conference ever.

No doubt in my mind. I still can't believe this shit. Literally cannot fathom what I saw here today.

I really thought this was gonna be a typical, boring affair but just, right off the goddamn bat they open up with a nuke, followed by a Photon Torpedo which got followed up by a friggin Death Star beam.

Good conference, moreso the first half. Horizon stole the show, really creative and promising stuff. Dreams sounds intriguing, can't wait to mess around with No Man's Sky. Some genuinely fun announcements to remember, but have some reservations around them as well. A few lulls during presentations from third parties and the Uncharted demo didn't really do it for me, but still a good show.

They left a lot of stuff hanging from years past. Rime, Wild, Tomorrow Children, The Witness - all 2016, or later? Hoping to hear more about where those projects are at over the next few days.

Also, a la carte channels for Playstation Vue could be the start of something great, depending on the pricing model. Hope it's reasonable enough to take off.

Yeah, same feeling Giant Bomb

I was wondering what MS shown to warrant such acclaim, Tomb Raider is not exclusive either and one of the worst demos I've seen.
Gears 4 and Halo we've all seen before, would be like announcing Killzone and God of War. Not the original teams and in the past the same people have been down on these games, seen as played out.

Fallout 4 is not exclusive
Plants Zombies 2 not exclusive
Dark Souls III cut scene not exclusive
The Division not exclusive
Rainbow 6 Siege not exclusive
indie games that both seem to have covered well
Rare games collection that I've seen before
Sea of Thieves looks pretty good, long way off
Fable 4/5, erm yeah
Recore cut scene 2016 game

Software emulation BC on maybe a hundred old 360 games over time
Hololens on Windows

Forza 6 yes great I will buy XBO just for that game. Cuphead looks brilliant

I'm not seeing much good from either conference, much of the criticisms being labeled at Sony conference like third party this, timed that, shit we've played before or its 2016, I'm seeing on the MS conference too.
Gears looks terrible and Halo is Halo; you either love it or hate it. Forza does look great I will not deny that, but people are making it seem like Microsoft is going to have some amazing line up this holiday season. ROTR looks like it's competing with Uncharted 2 so whatever.

The thing I'm seeing from some press, journalists, and other random people on the internet is that Sony doesn't have exclusives this year. That is completely wrong. What Sony doesn't have are a lot of holiday exclusives. MS puts most of their exclusives at the end of year which is always ridiculously stacked to the brim. If we look at the entire calendar year, Sony and MS are on par as far as retail exclusives go. Then there's all the smaller, digital titles and Japanese titles that will either never see the day on other platforms, or have timed exclusivity to PlayStation.

3rd parties are the biggest holiday sellers anyway (outside of franchises like GranTurismo, Halo, Mario, and others) and are far more important than some 1st party, holiday dick weaving contest.

I tuned into the GB stream for a second and saw that they think Sony announced all of this good stuff to hide their weak 2015 lineup.

I'd rather watch a GT stream any day.

I rarely show much emotion, but damn if I wasn't moved when Final Fantasy VII Remake was shown. What a conference.

I was sure Bethesda would be the clear winner this year with Microsoft sitting comfortably with the second-best conference, but Sony completely blew me away.

I just need to illustrate how profoundly stupid his claim is. He just drops that in, ostensibly claiming the No Man's Sky people are lying, when it's not even a remarkable claim. It's so fucking simple to make a vastly randomly generated space. The difficult part is in populating your randomizing algorithm in such a way that players who explore the universe won't frequently be bumping into things that they've seen before, or designs so similar as to give you the uncanny feeling.

But the universe of the scale they're talking? Totally awesome. Totally in the game, indisputably. That dude needs to be called out for making such a nonsense claim.

Sony wins E3 with the FFVII remake alone. Everything else is just gravy. Overall they had a great showing I'd have to say.

Here's looking forward to playing it in 2018! At least PS4 will be really cheap by then!

The people downplaying this are legit insane. This thread is now the world's #1 salt manufacturer.
Well, if you've been around for a while, you knew it was bound to happen. This is to show you, it doesn't matter what Sony does, it will always be downplayed but this one... THIS ONE... *breaths heavily*

That makes zero sense.....it is impossible to hide and people are putting too much focus on holidays. why has MS had nothing until fall? Third parties will dominate fall, sucha dumb narrative.

How was it any sneaker than what any conference is. It's all about games in the future. FF7 being exclusive to their console first is huge, no matter how far off it is. Same goes with Shenmue (it's not coming to X1 as far as I know).

People know these things. They aren't stupid. Conferences are "shows" and "performances". Let's be real, we already know 90% of the titles people will buy, will be on both consoles. And what was exclusive to Sony, looked fucking great. TLG, UC4 + Horizon + No Man's Sky looked incredible. And not to mention Persona 5 which wasn't shown. I'll take those any day over Halo 5, Forza 6 and Gears of WarAnd UC4 showed Tomb Raiders little trailer up so badly. And I forgot about Street Fighter V and the beta in July.

So basically, you had both conferences showing key titles, and also "future promise"...and Sony just had better overall everything. Better conference pacing. Better OMG moments. Better future promise. Better immediate promise (MS has Sony beat this Holiday, but by Immediate, I mean within the next year and a half and not a complete TBD).

I don't see why it's fair to call Sony "sneaky" or any more sneaky then anyone else. Again, people aren't stupid and know that these things are far off into the future. Sony still had those announcements at their conference, or had major exclusivity for them. Sony's conference was just much much stronger.

The only thing MS had a 1 up on, was the BC feature. But I mean, that's also "future promise", as we have to wait and see how limited that list will be, and whether publishers will sign off on most games. It's a great feature no matter what (not having to pay for things you own)...but HOW it ends up being, that's something off in the future. We don't know yet. And the Elite controller...$150...I mean it looks amazing, but $150!?

I own an X1 (playing ESO on it now), and I thought MS came out swinging hard. I thought there was no way Sony could match it. But after BC + The controller, it really kind of just..petered out for me, and was kind of a slow burn. Everything was really good/okay and solid. But it was just...that, solid. No games or moments were OMG for me. Rare was really cool, but outside of that, there was no OMG moments like Horizon, or UC4. Halo and Gears looks fine. They are doing what they always do. But nothing mind blowing (IMO).

So I fail to see how Sony was any more sneaky than MS (MS had that Holo lens thing, that felt very...scripted, and even if it wasn't, we didn't see enough of how it actually works in terms of playing the game with it. And how practical it would be to actually build things using that mode).

See, I'm into the whole...conference grading...thing. A lot of people get hung up on "pacing" or "OMG" moments, but the reality is...the games and when they come out on the only thing that truly matters. The best part of E3 aren't the conference, they're the showfloor demos, the interviews with the developers, getting a better understanding of the game and what they're selling you.

MS didn't have the OMG shock value moments, but if we're talking Fall 2015 libraries? Consoles I want to own right now, vs consoles you'll buy when Shenmue 3/TLG comes out in 2017 or when FF7 releases in 2020 or whenever? Personally it doesn't make me want to run out and buy your console like Halo 5 does for me and the Xbone, or even the return of Gears 1 with dedicated servers/60fps/updated mechanics and maps. Once you get past the hype a week from now, that's a concrete value I'll take over a frankly dull outdating lookin TLG demo, a vague promise of a remake, a vague promise of a game(whatever the hell No Man's Sky is and whenever that comes out on PC) and a Kickstarter campaign.

But that's just me. You're right, it got the internet talking, and they're gonna have plenty of CoD/AC/Star Wars Battlefront bundles to sell to people this holiday when people are making "Where are the PS4 games!?" threads later this year.

I wish we got a God of War tease

Psx is my bet. Paris will have wild and whatever Quantic dream has to show plus more horizon I bet, Tokyo has to have persona 5 plus more Japanese focused games. Psx has to have how plus whatever bend is working on and a tease of whatever sucker punch will have (like a name or cg trailer). Those are my bets

Shenmue III already breached a million lol, guess it's to be expected?

Still super uber pumped for FFVII, I've never played it and can't wait for the release of the remake now.

Only on GAF could we finally get not one, not two, but all three major games that have been staples of "It'll be at E3" for almost a decade, and yet people are actually unhappy about it.

I fear for when Half-Life 3 is announced.

Trying to wrap my brain around the need to post pictures of salt rather than have an actual discussion, but then again this place is like Chicago if the Cubs won the World Series right now
