Adam Boyes' actual list.

Great show in terms of presentation and content, but the lack of dates killed most of the excitement for me.

MS don't have anything as exciting as No Man Sky or Horizons but at least I know when I'll be able to play their stuff.

Based on the bolded, how come you've ranked MS's conference higher than Sony's? Most of the stuff they showed was CGI trailers or non-gameplay sections. They also had plenty of multi-plat games like Dark Souls, Fallout 4, Garden Warfare 2, The Division, Rainbow Six, etc.
You know why...

I love that Sony have moved away from copying Apple with yearly reports and breaking down the conference by platform. They just said "let's show games" and that's all they did and it was great. I think this is probably the best benefit from Microsoft having such a terrible launch conference for the Xbox One. All Sony had to do was show games to win that year and the feedback was so good that it looks like they will stick to this formula.

The pace was way better then previous years, no terrible celebs on stage or faux gamers over acting while playing a game (usually the word 'Dawg' is used to sound 'cool'). Just good trailers, and gameplay.

There is a part of me that wished they spent maybe 2-3 minutes taking about what's coming out in future firmware releases, but I suppose they could easily do that in a short video post E3. Would have liked something new to be shown for Vita, but I figure the majority of the Devolver Digital games will be cross buy enabled.

9/10

Have we done rankings in this thread? I was asleep so I watched the conference in bits now so I'll rank the individual bits not the whole thing.

The Last Guardian: 6/10... Honestly I've never played Sotc or Ico and never got caught up in all the hype about the game. It looks okay but I am not convinced yet, I mean it's been so long since their last game does their track record even really guarantee anything?

Horizon: Zero Dawn: 9/10. Looks amazing, definitely something I would play and the story has me intrigued.

Hitman: 7/10: I'm interested but it's only a Cg trailer, hoping for more at the Square Enix conference.

Street Fighter 5: 6/10: Was thankfully short as I don't have any real interest in fighting games, looks good for a fighting game. Wouldn't mind getting it for cheap ina few years.

No Man's Sky: 9/10. They showed how it played and that huge map... Would've been a 10 with a release date.

Dreams: 10/10. Little big planet is my favorite game series of all time and this looks amazing to me. Probably my game of the show.

Fire Watch: 9/10 Had never even heard of this game and the trailer looked like something I would play.

Destiny: 4/10: Don't care about Destiny, never bought it and don't plan to now.

Assassins Creed: Syndicate: 5/10. Never too fond of Assassins creed and that trailer was pretty bad compared to the trailers that got me hyped up for Unity... I didn't actually buy Unity though.

Final Fantasy section: 8/10. Don't know what to think about World of Final Fantasy. Never a huge fan of Final Fantasy but I think I'll have to play the Final Fantasy 7 remake.

Devolver Digital: 7/10. Hope one of them is free on ps+ but will just play them on Pc otherwise.

Shenmue 3: Never played any Shenmue, this wasn't an announcement for me, not even going to try to rate it.

Batman: 8/10. Don't know about the Batmobile focus, but proving Joker is dead was nice. The trailer was pretty nice. Scarecrow is my favorite Batman villain so that goes in the games favor.

Morpheus: 7/10 Rigs sounds pretty sweet, can't wait to see more. Wish there was a price or a release date though. Thankfully it was nice and short, could have killed the conference if it was too long.

Cod: Blops3 Single Player: 5/10: Hoped for much better. The greater freedom and Co-op has imo resulted in a much blander experience.

Cod: Blops3 Multiplayer: 7/10. This is more like it. But still hasn't nearly convinced me to buy it.

Battlefront: 8/10: Looked great overall. This will probably be my shooter for the year.

Uncharted 4: 10/10: Amazing. Will buy this game. Super hyped and the gameplay looked great.

Very impressive conference from MS and Sony. Personally, MS did more for me but both were top notch. Seems like a great time to be a gamer, and not a fanboy.

That just comes down to personal preference tho, it's a subjective rankings obviously, stuff like the Forza trailer even if it's the sixth instalment made me more excited that let's say Shenmue that i personally don't care about

It's easy to see which thread inspired indifference.
As there are less XB1 owners IRL, it makes sense that there would be fewer of them on GAF, especially hours after their conference ended. No real reason to check back in when everything was announced already, with relatively minor bombs dropped. Every eye was on Sony; every gamer on this board has heard of TLG, S3 and FFVII. Even if you had no personal interest in playing those games in the future, history was being made. Not a negative against MS but they really didn't have anything to throw shade on those games. How do you compete with legendary titles, and a long awaited, possibly future classic?

Fantastic conference. Lots of energy and incredible announcements, truly.

Plenty of timed exclusive related stuff, lots of early access betas. Holy shit at some of the announcements. But I'm tempering my excitement due to how many games are slated for 2016, 2017, and 2018 (FF VII R?). Horizon: Zero Dawn was my favorite game they showed and that is a year away.

Last night 9/10.
Today, 7/10. After some of the hype has died down and coming to the realization most of what they showed there is no release date and are literally years away the score is more apropos to my feelings today about the conference.

If anyone actually scores Microsoft's conference higher than Sony, I really believe there may be some sort of delusion involved.

The Microsoft conference was a snooze fest with nothing groundbreaking announced, save for Rare's pirate game.

Sony didn't wipe the floor with them, they buried the carcasse.

Just unbelievable and it will be talked about for years to come.

A masterclass of a conference.

Haven't seen Ubisoft yet and of course Ninty is still to come but so far:

MS: 7.0 Decent start ramping up quickly but then falling into a pit. EA part of that presser was a train wreck

EA: 3.5 Embarassing

Sony: 8.5 was missing 2015 stuff but other then that legendary

Edit: Forgot Bethesda: 7.0 Ok

Saying MS had nothing groundbreaking when they solved the BC flawlessly and demoed Hololens very effectively is silly. I still think Sony won, but come on.

Microsoft's conference was pretty good and I already expected Sony to have a worse conference this time. But I wasn't able to watch it live so I watched it together with a friend during work (a bit there a bit here during breaks).

And man, this conference was pure joy to watch. WE nearly FREAKED out.

So far.

Sony 10+
.
.
.
Bethesda 9
Microsoft 8.5
Ubisoft ? (Still unwatched)
EA 4 (Phil alone. ..)

Thank you for bringing me back on my feet and show me how and to what get excited

Jeez

Sheesh. What a Night. I haven't picked up a PS4 yet, because nothing except Bloodborne really made me want one. Horizon is probably about tied with FFVII for wanting to play. I gotta get one now.

I have to give Sony's conference a 10/10. I honestly don't know how much more they could've done. Packed with huge games, and huge surprises. I have to say I feel bad for Phil Spencer. All that work, and all that hyping up for the best line up of Xbox games. Just to be slapped with the big three. Even though two of those will most likely end up on the Xbox One. IIRC. Just having them on stage at Sony's conference was invaluable.

Can't wait to play.

I don't for a second believe anything they present tech wise after Milo and effectively just casting off Kinect after a year.

And backwards compatibility is nice, but if that's the highlight from the confernce, isn't that telling?

90% of the games they announced or showed will likely be released in the next year or so. In-fact, there's only two that I can see being beyond 2016, Shenmue 3 and Final Fantasy VIIR, so I don't really get the years away complaint.

But you understand the significance it has for the industry, for fellow gamers?

What did you feel when MS got the 360 version FFXIII? That is very similar, a defining moment for the console.

Backwards compatibility is the past im more concerned about the present and future
Hololens is cool and all but they didnt even hint at a release window or price point which means its not coming out till 2017 if not later and even then it will need games for it which will take another few years

I can understand what it does for people but it's not like it can change my interest for it

XIII on 360 didn't do a thing for me tbh, wasn't big on the gaming forums and i didn't even realize people could go batshit insane if something was going to become multi

To each their own.

But, Sony really are just killing it.

Even Call of Duty is gone PlayStation.

They really are just annihilating Microsoft, and Andy House, Adam Boyes, Shuhei (now redeemed for me lol) and Shawn are doing an absolutely incredible job.

Momentum for PS4 must be exploding after that conference.

Sony wins E3 for me again this year.

I gave the Microsoft conference a solid 8.5, and I give the Sony conference a 9 out of 10.

The last guardian looked stunning and I will have to get myself a PS4 finally for that, and, of course, Uncharted.

There may well have been stuff that they should have shown and they didn't but this very much a show there to stir the emotions of gamers and they got that spot on. I think about the stuff that I would like them to have done and then I think about The Last Guardian, Final lFantasy VII and Shenmue III and I just don't care.

There was fantastic stuff shown by other teams too with Media Molecule managing to produce something that really blew me away even though I have no idea what the hell it was. Quite possibly the most beautiful game I've seen.

Don't usually say this but they could have probably done with an extra 30 minutes and slowing down some of the segments as my head was spinning by the end but I suppose there will be a lot said about the games they briefly touched on this week.

Really wanted to see The Nathan Drake Collection, hope we get some gameplay this week.

Ah, I get it now. You rate it on the sole factor of how it affects you. Makes sense.

Me, I've never played Shenmue, but seeing grown men weep because the game has been announced moves me, shows me that there are experiences out there powerful enough to change us, uplift us, bring us together. And I cried too. Thats how I knew it was real. FFVII did something for me, and I'm kinda over TLG, but based on S3 changing lives, I give it and Sony the nod.

But, yeah, F6 is gonna be good, too.

The announcements were INSANE but I'm cautious....

- TLG only got a "2016" release date. I had hoped when they "re-introduce it at the right time" it would release very soon after that and not let us wait long again... At first glance it did not look fundamentally different from 7(?) years ago to judge if they really had to work on it so long or what was going on.

- FF7R... the reasons SE gave before why I would not be financially viable still apply and I don't know how they will overcome them if they want to make a carbon copy remaster of the game.... We actually saw less FF7-ish stuff than in that PS3 tech demo... They apparently just started so that's basically vaporware or a PS5 game with SE's track record

- Shenmue 3 announced as a kickstarter felt weird. You expect them to announce games that are 100% planned/funded (at least at this point in time...I know the KS already reached its first goal). It also means that this will be another game one can wait a pretty long time for. I haven't played the first ones (did they say if they remaster them?) so I don't care about story continuation and it has to be proven if they can translate all of it into the current gaming standards. Even the yearly updated Yakuza can feel a bit clunky/dated at times and I doubt Shemue 3 will rivial it in content even at their 4 mio goal...

Still, they had some awesome stuff like gameplay of their new IP Horizon and I'm soo excited to actually play TLG next year. But I don't trust announcement that don't even hide that they are in the far, far future and have basically nothing yet.
On the other hand, this can also be seen as proof (versusXIII counts here as well) that you might just get your stuff at one point. You just have to wait a long-ass time haha
Agent is next year then.

Waking up and it still feels like a dream. I fully realize two of the "Impossible Three", (still thinking of a better name), don't even have release dates but I still couldn't be more excited, and the things that do looked great too.

Sony still won hands down for me. Microsoft's wasn't bad, but what it comes down to for me is, I'll believe any of the Holo stuff works when it's in my house in front of me functioning. Never in a million years will I ever believe a new piece of tech will work from them after the Kinect. Just not happening, and without that, their conference was pretty much by the numbers with no reveals that piqued my interest.

Onwards to Nintendo! XENOBLADE X RELEASE DATE PLEASE

BC is vastly overrated on gaf. The general population rarely uses it. They move on to the next AAA release on their new consoles.

It is nice to have sure.

That's my feeling as well. Too much new stuff to worry about the old. I would rather have the upgraded visuals of a remaster. Sonys's remasters are becoming a collection of the essential PS3 games so I don't even feel like I missed the ps3 generation. They've already checked my lost of games I needed to play on ps3.

My bias is that I already played all the major 360 games and none of the PS3 ones. But I really have no desire to play them without the upgrades of a remaster. Like the Gears 1 edition.

They really are just annihilating Microsoft, and Andy House, Adam Boyes, Shuhei (now redeemed for me lol) and Shawn are doing an absolutely incredible job.

The three big "megatons" from Sony did absolutely nothing for me so I'd have to disagree with this.

Backwards Compatibility was the biggest megaton of E3 so far.

The conference itself was fantastic and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't really personally feel for any of the revivals because I really don't have any personal history or interest in them but because of their legendary status it was exciting anyway.

So while Sony absolutely topped MS in excitement I hold the stuff Microsoft showed as personally more interesting.

That said I threw a dollar in the Shenmue kickstarter immediately after the announcement. Just because why not become backer ~#150 of such an important game?

I had a lot of fun in the theater at Sawgrass Mills in South Florida. Biggest reactions were the last guardian, destiny expansion (people lost their shit at the bow special), final Fantasy, shenmue, and when Drake started moving after the uncharted demo messed up.

Oh man that was the best Conference I've ever seen. The gameplay demos for Horizon, TLG and Uncharted 4 were on point and Shenmue 3, FFVII Remade and a new MM project completely sealed the deal.

Legendary.

Lmao even without this uc4, Horizon looked amazing g. New ip from MM, new ff game and star wars game...BC is limited on x1 overrated feature 2 years into the gen.
