Xbox One adds Xbox 360 backwards compatibility

Zuma, Keflings, Super Meat Boy and N+ just appeared in My Games & Apps. Installed them and they work flawlessly. I'm not convinced that BC is a huge feature for discs. But for the library of XBLA games that I bought it sure would be nice to just have them all available.

Hell, add them to the store on XB1, this makes me wish I was better about downloading the free Games with Gold 360 games, if they appear in the BC list they'll just be available to download I would guess.

I'm kicking myself.

N7Commander95 have you tried other games apart from Mass Effect?

Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise.

Ive only managed to do a few, as the games take a long time to download as of now from disc

Anyway: Viva Pinata plays and looks exactly the same. I think, someone in the other thread suggested that there may be a sharpening filter, but I think its just the fact that its 720p upressed rather than 1080p

im going to try Banjo Kazooie later

Sorry if this sounds like begging but can someone please send me an invite for the preview program? Dying to try these features out as well as the games preview as well. My gamer tag is; LUCKY NUM8ER 7

I'm posting a list of gamertags here. If your gamertag is any of these, you've been invited as of this post:

You've all been invited and messaged on Xbox. I'm not sure if an invite is a guarantee but it's been sent anyway. Anyone else message me, GT same as here.

Message sent with my Neogaf name. Hopefully these invites work.

Thanks for taking the time to respond to these :)

There's a surprising amount of disparity between the file size differences of various games though. Geometry Wars is 15mb on 360, and 564mb on X1 (549mb difference) vs Super Meat Boy which is 110mb on 360, and 721mb on X1 (611mb difference). If the game package itself were unaltered, I would expect the 360 VM to weight in at around the same size each time, but every game has a completely different file size disparity.
Hmm, there could be different explanations for this. Anyway, it works, I have tested it with Mass Effect.

Sent you message on Live. Thanks!

Still trying to wrap my head around how this BC stuff is gonna work

But as someone who skipped the 360 outside of playing games at friends places, I'm so happy this got announced

Excuse me while I go bitch at Bamco until they make Ace Combat 6 and Tales of Vesperia compatible

I believe that Kadin hooked me up, but I'm still waiting for that message.

Big ups to Kadin for helping me out! I can't wait to play some Super Meat Boy on XBO!

EDIT: You know, this might be a good time to create an Xbox Preview thread and have GAF gamer tags so people who share interests can have fun together!

That's awesome, I didn't know you could get invited like that.

If anyone has the time could I please get an invite as well? Would love to check this out.

My GT is: jtrov

I really have to say that this feature is the one and only reason that sold me on an Xbox One.

I'll buy the console when Rock Band 4 releases and don't even have to buy new instruments and still can use all of my previously bought DLC.

I am so happy Microsoft announced this.

Another console generation where I will once again own all three consoles.

So, this can play exactly *1* game out of my 113 X360 discs that I own and 1 out of nearly the same number of Digital titles that I own. Color me unimpressed. This might have finally been a real selling point for me if it actually meant a damned thing, since my old fat X360 Elite is sitting in a corner boxed up. I love video games and video game consoles, so please freaking try harder to sell me yours, Microsoft.

You do know this is the preview release right now, right? They said 100 by general availability and way more to come.

No, multiple things matter. Both performance and compatibility list.

Right now, it's 18 games on beta / preview, and the showings in the video weren't that much either. The fact they only did ME1 and not ME2, and ME3 shows there's more than just a simple switch to enable this.

I hate PSNow's model but it has a lot more games available and had more available on beta.

They showed ME1 because it is a MS published game. 2 and 3 are EA.

I do, because their track record has shown they will make some noise in the beginning then quickly drop supporting it.

They have to prove to me, but it frustrates me that everyone thinks this is more than it is. They are talking to the potential then the reality, and the track record shows it will stay a potential.

Let's not pretend that the OG Xbox's library is anywhere close to the 360s. Let's focus on the fact that the 360 install base was a gajillion (estimate) times bigger though.

I think they have slightly more motivation to get better results from that one other time they did this.

N+ is still really hard ;-;

Edit: I haven't played it in a while but I think there's something off about the movement. Perhaps that's why the game isn't listed as part of the initial batch.

I was trying to figure out why I couldn't see any of my xbla games until I found this thread. Are there limits on how many people you can send an invite to? If not, I'd really appreciate an invite if someone wouldn't mind. I'm really curious how well this works.

GT: The Red Shadow

How does one get invited into this? I have been an Xbox Live member since day one, but bought an XB1 in February. Did you have to buy an XB1 at launch to get invited?

How long does it take to receive an invite to the preview program? Kadin was kind enough to invite me last night. Just curious how long it typically takes to process :) Once someone invites you you eventually get a message on live to register right?

I can invite people as well if you wish.

Add me as a friend on Xbox and I'll send the invite when I see you.

Do remember its not instant that your in, it can take up to 48 hours for you to become a preview member and have access to it.

My Gamertag is Quick Mustard

I also dont know if theres a limit to how many I can invite.
