The sheer number of people willing, ready, and able to piss in other people's coffee is shocking to me. I mean, I don't care all that much about some of the announcements, and not at all about some other conferences, but coming in and acting like stuff other people are clearly extremely excited about is a waste of their time is shameful. There's no need to rain on parades - I don't like parades, so I don't go to them, and everybody gets to stay happy.

Neither Microsoft nor Sony have much in the way of big name, big budget exclusives and nor will they have enough to satisfy people until 2016. It is like a chic trying to compare two guys who don't have much going on until they graduate college.

Pretty much this.

I am so hyped for many games 2016 and beyond. And that only increased yesterday.

Thanks for tuning in & I'm glad some of you enjoyed the show ;)

Thank you amazing show, the best conference I've seen in years, you guys dropped 3 Megatons, 3!!!! that's kind of illegal! it was overkill!
On top of that Uncharted 4, Guerilla's new IP and No Man's Sky looked stellar.

Crongrats Mr. Boyes and please send our regards to Mr. Yoshida, he seemed so relieved of finally showing us TLG again :D

Did you miss Microsoft's conference? Halo, Tomb Raider, Forza, Gears, Fable are releasing this year. Sony showed a lot of games I want, but they're not this year.
Gears is not coming this year.

Unless you mean the Remaster.

In which case, Uncharted Remaster says hello.

Thanks for tuning in & I'm glad some of you enjoyed the show ;)

God damn was that amazing.

Two questions:
1) was the PSX FFVII port an intended (long con) troll?
2) were you laughing uncontrollably on the inside when FF Worlds trailer was playing?

I hope the answer is yes to both. You rock! :)

Most of these guys have been in the business for too long, they have become cynical and soulless, their podcasts are nothing but whining, criticizing and mocking games. time for them to retire and write a book.

But that doesnt make any sense. Does "big name big budget exclusive" = the only games that exist? There's supposedly Persona 5, Dragon Quest Heroes, Tales of Zestiria and Until Dawn as well as UC Collection to name a few off my head that are coming to PS4 this year. That's plenty to play.

Even MS has decent stuff coming out with Halom Forza, Gears, Fable and Tomb Raider(even though none of those interest me in the least except TR which is coming to PS4 next year))

And that's on top of the overwhelming multiplats.

TLG had me extremely hyped but I've never played Shenmue and I'd much rather a FF9 remake (I only ever found FF7 to be alright).

The spectacle of the whole thing though was incredible, I've been watching those FF7 reaction vids all morning and smiling like an idiot. Shenmue too, people going absolutely ape shit because it means so much.

In terms of spectacle nothing will top Sony's E3 press conference this year. Microsoft did deliver their best conference ever but unfortunately did not have nostalgia to play on. They will finish this year extremely well, and although Sony's lack of games in the latter parts of 2015 is overstated, you can't deny they don't have nearly as much as they 'should'.

However it's all semantics, what's the difference between the end of 2015 and the start of 2016? It's not yearly gaps we're talking about, everyone's far too caught up in the 'holidays'.

I'm a PC gamer anyway, my PS4 tends to be a FIFA and NetFlix box at the moment. Won't be until Uncharted 4 that that changes.

yeah but they really made the other conferences more palatable haha. I'm imagining EA and Ubi's conference without their snark and it's not pretty.

During the conference I agree with you. Whilst people are excited in the heat of the moment, it's poor form to be the moaner in the room. It makes it kinda grim to follow GAF and the conference simultaneously.

When taking a retrospective look the next day though, it's fine to be honest, critical, and negative. If all people want to do is sit and reiterate how excited they are and that last night changed their life, there are platform specific message boards for that kind of thing.

I think I'm honestly done with GB. The night and day difference between their reactions and the GT crew made me realize how fucking jaded and boring they've become.

I am sad I didn't get to witness the gt reactions live. Even looking at them after the fact, their genuine enthusiasm, like the ones I had during the event, was just a reminder of how passionate we can get for our hobby.

Fair enough but surely the reaction by the gaming community as a whole is enough for you to acknowledge the significance of this conference? I mean these are three of the four biggest possible gigatons in all of gaming and they were delivered in one show... Grown men cried on live streams breh.. on multiple occasions! I can't remember an E3 like this ever, it was fucking chaos.

By what standards though? How well did the first-two Shenmue do, and the original SoC I'm willing to bet it wasn't huge. Only the real hardcore fans only care about those games. It's not going to move mountains like you guys want it to.

Wait, after the probably best Sony E3 conference ever people are trying to argue about it?. Wow. Enjoy or let enjoy guys. Gaming is for having fun. Not in the more wet dreams we could have had a more hype fulfilling conference.

Plenty of jimmies rustled it seems from some of the shitposting I'm seeing! Too many loud and resounding whacks on the opposing beehives for there not to be really I guess.

Is this honestly how they reacted to the Sony Conference? like... their gauge didn't even wobble at all? Jesus, I'll never understand the Giant Bomb love really. I'm a cynical shit, but I'm not even sure if those bro-blokes truly like videogames at all.

I was just thinking while getting ready a nostalgia fueled wish. How great would it have been if the 1UP crew was still around for this. Could you imagine Shane and the 1UP yours podcast after last night? Man that'd be epic

Hell, TR is going to be a non issue unless it moves release dates. The fact that it will release alongside fallout 4 of all games will dwarf any chance that game had to set charts on fire.

man...honestly not trying to troll, but how many times can that holiday lineup be exciting.

Heh. I really enjoyed the MS conference this year, but it was because I saw them expanding beyond the typical Xbox suite. It was the Cupheads, Recores, Rare games, and misc other indies that made it so strong.

Honestly, may take away from E3 this year - EA announces a 2D platformer, MS shifts focus to more artistic games, Sony unleashes maximum kickstarter, Killzone guys go creative - is that we may be moving past "peak bro" in gaming. This is incredibly exciting.

By what metrics are you measuring this? Honest question. Was there some poll or other survey conducted about what people were hoping to see at E3?

Pretty sure it's general consensus? For this E3 specifically, Adam Boyes made it pretty clear on stage that the reason these games were announced was because of overwhelming popular demand. TLG and FF7 (Shenmue to some extent as well) were always spoken in the same vein as Half-Life 3, and I'm pretty sure general gaming-websites polls hold the above four as leaders by voting in the "what game announcement would you like to see the most"-polls prior to big trade show. I mean, Shenmue 3 crowdfunded in 8 hours, fastest video game funding ever, should speak for that fact.
Or we could also try to google for "most wanted video game sequels" or something...but I don't have the time for that :)

I think I'm honestly done with GB. The night and day difference between their reactions and the GT crew made me realize how fucking jaded and boring they've become.

Lets not even compare them with GT for a second. How about we compare them with their target audience. Just gamers in general.

Even then, you're right.... night and day. They are gamers, but it just seems like their journalist side of the job has sucked the life from their passion for games. Not just in facial reactions but the comments made. Announcements gamers have been talking about and begging for for over half a decade...and the reaction is not much more than.."oh, i came back for this?" or "waste of resources"

C'mon.

Who cares and who said anything about moving mountains or it being a needle mover? Ps4 doesn't need help selling.

You are here just to shit on people's parade.

Luke would've put him in his place, though.

I miss that podcast.

Is this honestly how they reacted to the Sony Conference? like... their gauge didn't even wobble at all?
Yes, of course it did. They said lots of things looked really nice and that Sony had "a hell of a show". They just didn't bounce on the tables or jizz over FFVII and Shenmue (Because Jeff and Brad have stated their dislike for Shenmue and FFVII for years, why would they feign excitement?). FFVII Remake is probably my most excited announcement of the conference, and I have zero problems with other people not giving a shit.

Hell, TR is going to be a non issue unless it moves release dates. The fact that it will release alongside fallout 4 of all games will dwarf any chance that game had to set charts on fire.

Yeah, i think with MS's rush to get a UC competitor, they may have wasted their money in regards to impact with so many games releasing alongside it.

November is gonna be a pure bloodbath to begin with, Sony are actually smart for not having their first party releases get buried under all of that

Thanks for tuning in & I'm glad some of you enjoyed the show ;)

Adam, i am sure you are greatly responsible for the hunting of the three unicorns. When in the conference you checked the three games in the list I would have said you were making a wink to the neogaf hype trains. You are the best has happened to Playstation community in a while, congrats man.

Sorry some people don't like the same things you like. I just have no idea why I'm supposed to applaud the announcement of a kickstarter at a first party conference. Feels scummy.

True story. But this year was far less annoying than last year. Last year's stream showed more crowd than screen.

its been stated repeatedly that there must be a reason it's a Sony console exclusive, either they are kicking in money or resources...
Hell giving them the biggest gaming stage to launch their kickstarter is already a big favour to anyone....

... If Sony doesn't own it then you do realize they aren't getting any extra money for it either right? So exactly how is it scummy to share your space that you paid tons of money for to help a developer launch their campaign?

Lol scummy.

I don't get the pessimism/ gloom from some.

Baring the 3 announcements that alone made this Presser one of the all time greats imo (TLG, FF7 Remake, Shenmue 3, there were also a ton of new games that should cover a wide area of interest as well:

- Firewatch (one of th emost eagerly awaited indies on PC, now coming to PS4)
- World of Final Fantasy (chibi JRPG)
- Horizon (Open World Action Adventure WRPG)
- Media Molecule's Dreams
- Hitman (Reboot?)
- Guerilla Cambridge's Rigs on Morpheus looked fun

And of course the very eagerly awaited

- No Man's Sky
- Battlefront (looked amazing)
- Uncharted 4 (imo they outdid the E3 2009 demo of UC2)
- SF V

Personally, I wasn't interested in the shooter-fest in the middle (beside the Oh-My-God worthyness of Battlefront's near CGI level graphics), but for fans the Destiny expansion and COD presentation (hate the fact that Sony fights fire with fire and adopts the same shitty temp exclu DLC tactics from MS) was a pretty big deal I guess.
I know that in the theater some people (like me) groaned at the Destiny intro, but many more shouted "Yeah!"....

AC: syndicate character reveal, Destiny expansion and COD Coop reveal were the low points to me as well, but honestly, if you take a step back it should actually tell you something about the overall quality of the Sony presser I think.
Also, we need to relativize and realize not everybody likes what we like.

I'm just so thankfull there was no lenghty powerpoint slides, only a brief but very well done Morpheus segment which basically was used to introduce Rigs, and not really any TV TV / Powers segment beside the short announcement of the expansion of PS Vue.

Speak for yourself I didn't think it was exciting at all 3 old games don't impress me.

Nice to know man.

Good for you.

A serious question - is Qwerty710710's comment any less valid then those who posted little more then squeals of excitement? Neither add substantially to the conversation, but both are valid reactions to the show.

My personal take on the show was that it was solid, but honestly a bit boring. I never had a PS2 so I never played Shadow of the Colossus. As someone largely unfamiliar with the material I found the demo felt really long and uninteresting. I actually have no clue what Shenmue is about, so a kickstarter announcement is not thrilling. I've never played Final Fantasy so a multiplatform remaster remake is not for me. Most of the game shown were like that - no personal connection or real interest. Most of the other games were either multiplatform, coming sometime in the future, or both. I feel that Sony's show relied far more on nostalgia then most e3 shows.

Now, I don't know if this is some weird confirmation bias from my end, but does anyone else feel like there is an intresting disrepancy between the nature of the majority of MS and Sonys exclusive content?

I get the feeling almost all MS partnerships and exclusivity are "bought", for the lack of better word. Content that was never really intended to be exclusive, but has become so after MS threw a big wad of cash in the other party’s direction.
With Sony, I obviously still see this happening, but to a much lesser degree. This year was actually worse than I remember it being in the past, but it's still not even close.

The whole Oculus thing is a good example.

So, can anyone tell me if I'm just being a biased fanboy asshole here? Because I actively try not to be, and would like to be reigned in if I sound unfair.

Im assuming sony gave them tools to build and will help withbthe build along with marketing. Im guessing building and producing a game like shenmue and marketing the game costs a lot more than 2 million dollars.

Totally this. While I'm super hyped for a FFVII remake, none of the guys have huge nostalgia for the Playstation FF games, so this is the exact reaction to expect. They might seem jaded and cynical (and sometimes are), but you can always expect Giant Bomb to keep it real and call it like they see it.
