Metroid Prime Federation Force Announced (Next Level, 3DS, 4 Player, Mission Based)

I'm not even fucking sorry for you people. I got to say, this Metroid announcement is well deserved after the shitstorm and whining all you Metroid fanboys/fangirls had over the DKC: Tropical Freeze announcement two years ago. I've never been more disgusted with gamers than with the reactions many of you had in this thread. I hope Retro's new game is DKCR3, just to throw more salt in your wounds. :p

Nintendo should just wait until the NX to release a new actual Metroid game. I don't think even Metroid would save the Wii U.

How old were you when Goldeneye or Contra came out? Kids don't need things to be dumbed down with a chibi art style to be interested in something.

Not sure if anyone in general wanted this. It doesn't look worth buying on iOS/Android even.
 
Nintendo cancels Dread, and a 3DS Metroid for Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, and NOW they put out this shit. I can't believe Metroid Prime is in the title, this is not a Metroid game, let alone something that should be in the Prime series.
 
Ew. I guess it's too early to pass final judgement, but right now it's looking like a great big pass from me. I really don't get what they're thinking. It's like a different game they tacked the Metroid name onto, but it's not like Metroid has a ton of pull outside of the core audience... so... I don't get it.
 
I like Metroid Hunters, so I'll probably like this as well. I hope there's some more Metroid down the line though. And maybe also a port of this to Wii U to play it on the TV.
 
Game looks pretty fun, is my first impression.

I hope one of the missions involves hunting down Samus, who is now considered rogue after Fusion. Good way to tie it in to the ongoing story. You could start the next game escaping from a Federation prison - or it could be set on a Federation prison that's been infested with something.

I wish we got to see more of it. 20 seconds is intro stuff, and 22 seconds is blast ball and outro stuff. We got 14 seconds of actual gameplay, really want to know more about it.

That art is hideous, Glad that was never made.

So I guess Nintendo just thoroughly doesn't understand Metroid. Well, that's not exactly a revelation with Other M in existence.

I actually regret buying a Wii U a bit. They didn't announce any new Wii U gamea I'm interested in except Star Fox, and even that looks underwhelming. :(

The hope now is that the next actual Metroid is being developed for a later time, because this is not what anyone wanted. (Unless someone did ask for this?) Should've just called it Federation Force, because adding Metroid Prime atop just feels like an insult.
Who knows, though. We might actually get an interesting plot and more insight into some mythos out of this. For now, though, I'm really really really not sold.

Nintendo treehouse and their whole official brand don't acknowledge negativity exists. It's not within their brand perimeters.
 
Next Level games have always looked aesthetically weak, IMO. But they still manage to turn out fun playing games.

Still, this isn't the Metroid that I (or anyone else) was asking for.
 
I feel bad for Next Level games. They're a very competent developer and all this backlash seems to be based on something they couldn't control.

I'm hoping for the best, and I'll play it when it comes, looks fun and can't wait to see the expanded Metroid universe.

This isn't fair on those of us who loved Tropical Freeze but still want Metroid though.

If that was going to be the artstyle I'm not really crying over it, honestly.

That said, is this really early in development, or something?
This looked *embarrassingly* bad for a 3DS game after beautiful 60FPS titles like Kid Icarus and Smash Bros.

I eagerly await the inevitable interview were Reggie states how he knows fans have been really excited for a new Metroid and he hopes that this new twist on the series will provide them the excitement they want and they hope to gain new fans of the franchise akin to the NintendoLand minigames.

That's in 60 FPS with 3D ON too!! Absolutely crazy. Think about how good it could look with 30 FPS...

As a HUGE longtime Metroid fan, I am completely depressed and saddened by what I have seen... How long until we find out what Retro's been doing?? How many years has it been?

I love Nintendo but I'm really happy with all those dislikes on Youtube, they deserve it for being such an assholes with all their fans. Is that hard Nintendo? Just bring what people wants and please stop being a dick.
