After watching the show....I enjoyed it

. I mean, it wasn't nearly as grand as say, Sony's or Microsoft's shows and despite expecting more from Nintendo than Sony, it got completely inversed, with Sony showing off a lot.
I liked what was shown off though honestly

. The Mario Maker stuff looks really cool and it was cool not only seeing amiibo support for the game but to also have Miyamotto share his design documents from SMB's with everyone. It really paints a picture that the game is not only going to be a lot of fun, but it will inspire people into making games themselves, and that rocks :').
Star Fox Zero is amazing; Platinum games co-developing the tittle, the visuals having a nice clean look, the gameplay looking like classic Star Fox and the transforming features really spice up the gameplay. While the game could look better, I am very happy with what Nintendo showed us and it will be cool seeing more of the tittle this fall.
The amiibo support they had for a few tittles ranged from interesting (the Skylanders versions of Bowser and DK) too annoying (that re-skinned version of Mario Party with Animal Cross characters). Loved the segment with the amiibo Yoshi; the speaker seemed really nice and it is cool seeing how the creation of the amiibo plush birthed from doing a nice thing for the development team. Will get a either a green or blue one for sure

.
The rest of the announcements were cool honestly

. The Wii U Mario Tennis looks great, the new Mario and Luigi tittle looks awesome (really interested in how Alpha Dream will incorporate TTYD mechanics into the M&L formula), FE 3DS looks great, #FE still looks like a interesting Wii U-exclusive Persona tittle and its great knowing that Xenoblade X is coming this year.
While I am a bit irked with the Metroid announcement (even more so hearing its from Next Level Games, as they WERE working on a very interesting 2.5D Metroid before LM2 :l), I'm willing to give it a shot. They are great developers and the Metroid series is a great fit on the 3DS, so I look forward to seeing more of this.
I think the lack of big Wii U tittles is mainly due to the fact that Nintendo is ready to move on from the platform and is gearing up their studios for the next Nintendo system. And its not like they did this before, the two years of the GC were very sparse with content outside of FE, Chibi Robo, Mario Strikers, Mario Baseball, Mario Party, Battalion Wars, Odama and Twilight Princess being the only notable game released for the system in 2006. Nintendo is handling the transition a lot better here, as big Wii U games are still coming for next year, so I don't mind this year not having 'big' Wii U announcements; we will see them in a future direct I imagine

.
And apparently Iwata got wind of peoples disappointment with the direct, so that might push them into announcing a few big games this E3 week to mediate the negative response.
