According to Grimoire Nier,I could be remembering incorrectly.wasn't the last cut ending about Kaine being saved, then going to find Nier, ending in him being reborn?
It'd be awesome if that ending transformed into a playable sequel with her as the protag.
I have to raise my hand.
And this german dude too: http://www.twitch.tv/hookedlive/v/6240320?t=96m24s
Nier, Star Fox, Scalebound, Transformers
Damn how big is platinumgames
I agree. Very mediocre. But now Nier is by Platinum. This ought to be more than okay.
I never studied a bulge in this much detail before, but looking at this HQ video it's hard to see it as anything else. Could just be confirmation bias of course.
... I can't believe I just wrote that.
I need to play the first Nier
So how's Drakengard 3, guys? Coincidentally I just ordered it last week but haven't cracked it open. I think now it'll have to wait until after I replay Nier.
Also, to weigh in on the bulge debate, it's totally a bulge. It's quite prominent in motion if you're looking for it.

There's always a few people in every bunch.![]()
Game is very Musou-like with some annoying stutteringSo how's Drakengard 3, guys? Coincidentally I just ordered it last week but haven't cracked it open. I think now it'll have to wait until after I replay Nier.

Is all of the stuff about Kaine being ahermaphrodite just from outside texts, or is it covered in the game at all? Because the only part from the actual game that I remember that could allude to that was how she was shunned in her village for being different. And I would think that her being half-shade would take precedent in what makes her a "freak" over just having a dick.

"Never fall in love with potential."There's more than a few here with that sentiment. Bottom line is, there's potential here for a Platinum game without a completely throwaway plot and a Nier game without throwaway combat.

So if this is Kaine and Nier 2 is a direct sequel, then I guess they're going with ending D? Refresh my memory, but I think that leaves us withAm I close here?Kaine and Replicant Yohan both alive. Emil survives as a head rolling around in the desert. Weiss loses his physical form and is pretty much dead? Nier gave up his existence and no one remembers him except maybe Kaine. Without Shadow Lord the whole Gestalt-Replicant system is fucked.

Wait-and-see mode engaged.

I never understood why so many had problems with Nier's combat. Sure, it got repetitive aside from the boss fights, but the same could be said for 95% of RPGs. Basically every Rpg that isn't grandia or chrono trigger gets repetitive fighting regular enemies. Xenoblade's combat was no better.
Not seeing anywhere that confirms this as exclusive. Either way I can't wait to play it. Adored the first game.
How can this E3 ever be surpassed?
Man what a time to be alive for a gamer.
Haha, from a gameplay aspect, yes, I'll give you that.i mean, have you played the other yoko taro games
i don't think it's even remotely possible for platinum to produce anything as bad or worse gameplay wise
even "pretty alright" is a massive step up

I don't know why people rag on the combat so much. It was perfectly serviceable from my perspective. It wasn't super awesome and amazing, but it did the job well enough. It wasn't something anywhere near as banal and sub par as D3's combat anyways.
Then again, if the story, atmosphere, lore and world are good enough, i tend to give leniency as long as the gameplay elements are acceptable
NP! And I don't blame you considering how unheard of it was to have a character like that.
The boss fights were indeed probably the most complicated bits; it's not -just- the combat though, Nier was a weird mishmash of unfinished pieces of different games sewn together with a fairly interesting plot concept. Serviceable is definitely the best thing I could call the gameplay, but it did have a lot of variety, I'll give it that. I just felt like none of the parts had any identity or focus. It reminded me of a lot of PS1 games that still weren't quite sure what to do with a 3D world yet.
I'm just like the total opposite of this, and you could flip gameplay and story/worldbuilding in this post and it'd be like my talking about Vanquish

...
(I still kinda hope they keep the game-genre integration that made "NieR weird"..I want more Diablo dungeon, Zelda references, rail shooters, etc.) (oh and Vanquish is awesome).
I was shocked to see this already on Amazon.
