You are wrong. Its like you missed all the discussions about this.
Even if you disregard the story completely, you still get an action, linear game with almost non existent exploration and not having to worry about finding anything to progress, as everything was given to you while following the path. That doesn't feel like Metroid. Sure, Samus is more agile than what she is in Prime, but everything else was like they missed the point completely. The irony is that even though Prime was a first person game, in the end it felt much more like a 3D Super Metroid than OtherM ever did.
As a game it wasn't bad. But as a Metroid game, it was pure filth.
