Yes, it had a shit story. It still played pretty damn well and was a better game than the GAF narrative makes it out to be.
I was joking. I agree with both the positives and negatives you posted. Other M was alright.

The best thing about Hunters was, of course, the hunters. I'd love to see then return and get fleshed out. I loved the rock one. What was his name? Spire? And the worm dude. They're still planning the Sylux game? Wow. I thought that would never come about... Sylux was the best character in Hunters. He was the only one they gave a ship other than Samus and he showed up in the bonus ending of MP3. He won a poll asking fans who they wanted to see star in a Metroid spinoff.
Reads interview.
This is also the first concrete confirmation that the ship that chases Samus at the end of MP3 was Sylux'. I mean, we didn't really need it because the ship looks almost the same as the one in Hunters, but some people refused to accept that.
Yep, Spire. Worm dude was Kanden. The best thing about Hunters was, of course, the hunters. I'd love to see then return and get fleshed out. I loved the rock one. What was his name? Spire? And the worm dude.
When he tries to do something he fails, when his team actually does something they succeed. Not having Sakamoto around for Metroid is the best thing the series could possibly have.
Honestly, the chibified characters are the least of my problems with the game's visuals. I'm more concerned with the bland environments (especially the snowy area) and enemies (That aren't directly lifted from the Prime trilogy). What would you guys think about redesigning the characters so that they aren't chibi-fied?
There's a precedent for this:

Yeah, ignoring all those interviews where it's mentioned that many of the designs and elements that made Metroid what metroid is are attributed directly to him, both by his employees and his employers and even his contemporaries.
Cause everybody feels some god given need to give him undue praise for work he didn't do.
Sakamoto never said this.
Sakamoto without his team is demonstrably trash, there's no getting around this. Hell, without him the 2D metroids probably wouldn't have been much different. Fusion probably would have been better with less Adam flashbacks.
There are interviews that straight up say this is wrong.
The director of the original Metroid said Sakamoto was the origin of Metroid's map structure and sequence breaking
And his staff for Super Metroid even attributed most of those designs to him.
Metroid wouldn't be metroid without Sakamoto. It's not a arguable point, it's a fact.
Incorrect, his demonstrated failures without his team is a fact. Again, he's Nintendo's George Lucas.
I would be super down with this if you could play as the hunters. I have such fond memories of that games online. I beat the singleplayer too but honestly barely remember it.Yep, Spire. Worm dude was Kanden.
It's not incorrect since there's documented proof.
And failures indicate multiple, Other M didn't turn into several games.
OK, Federation Force looks legit. I've done a complete 180* on this game, for the better.
I imagine you guys are already discussing this, but if you haven't seen it, be sure to check out the most fun Treehouse Live session ever. I had a huge smile on my face watching this. Both missions they show look great.
First, the general atmosphere and attention to detail is more on point than I had thought from the short trailer in the Digital Event. Love the haunting music in the lobby, the loadout options (healing beams, slow-down beams), the look of the environments and the enemies (the ice beasts, pirates with the sabers, etc). Love the billowing smoke effect from comrades in critical condition, and the jet-thrusters on the extended jump.
Character movement looks like it has a good feel to it, with the quick sidestep dodge, the subtle gyro tweaking reminiscent of Splatoon, etc. The charge shot (and gunplay in general) looks satisfying very fast and punchy with the trailing effects.
Some surprisingly intense moments, where everyone is down and the sole survivor is trying to fend off pirates while reviving teammates and stopping the missile inbound on the target you're trying to protect. Or luring the beast into the cage and then slipping out of the cage so your teammates can close it.
Really intrigued by this. I want to play it. If it was that fun watching it, I'm confident it'll be fun to play. This is Next Level Games, right? It'll probably be one of the best-looking games on the system by the time it comes out. I'm already warming up to the style, which is more "bulky armor" than straight-up "chibi."
Also, Blast Ball is part of this, right? I saw videos of that and it looks like a lot of fun, as well. Really warming up to this game.
Apparently Other M was so bad it counts four times. Federation Force is also such a slap in the face that it counts for five bad games, so the Metroid franchise is totally in the red right now.

The fans wants: Team deathmatch style online multiplayer.
The fans receives: somewhat awful grifball style sports game.
sigh. ;(
So Other M and...?
And we're thankful it didn't.
Blast Ball is a separate mode. The main game is a co-op shooter where you go on missions to complete various objectives like fighting space pirates and capturing giant aliens. The fans wants: Team deathmatch style online multiplayer.

For me this looks fun, but It doesn't mean this game is good as metroid franchise.
More like
The fans want: An exploration game in which the solitary explorer descends into the darkness beneath worlds, surviving, enduring and overcoming. She becomes attuned to her environment, discovers long-lost relics of dead civilisations, and seeks out the hidden evils shrouded by darkness and rock.
The fans receive: Co-op shooter multiplayer in bright bold environments, and a multiplayer sports shoot goal in a big bouncy bright surrounding.
Beggars belief.

Tree house live makes this game look sooooo much better, but it also makes me wonder, because I only know one other person with a 3DS.
Maybe it can be played online, seeing how Tri Force Heroes can be played that way.
Join a four-player local or online squad in this co-operative sci-fi shooter set in the Metroid universe.

Treehouse video actually doesn't look that bad as a non metroid game, this could easily be a decent 3rd party game.
Still has this awful psx game style that makes it look like a budget game

It doesn't look like a good shooter even putting aside the Metroid name.
Sure, that's the first impression, and hopefully they can address it. But because of the name and developer pedigree, I checked out the Treehouse Live footage, and it looks fun as hell. It looks like there's a truly excellent game there, and one that might even make good use of the brand name, in terms of world-building and capturing the feel of movement in the Prime series. It looks plain as fuck. If you took off the Metroid name and put this thing out for $5 on iOS, PSN, eShop or XBLA nobody would give it a second look.
Aesthetically and lore-wise Bryyo was great. It's level design however was a bit too simplified and linear compared to the rest of the series.I loved Bryyo![]()

I'm waiting for more challenging mission design for federation as the core of metroid prime's shooting was honestly not that greatIt doesn't look like a good shooter even putting aside the Metroid name.
On 3DS? No, not really. Moon Chronicles is absolute ass, qnd I've only heard mixed things about ironfall. There are more interesting eShop games available tbh.
Looks like metroid is the only franchise that can't have a spin off that expands the metriod universe.
After umpteen years without an F-Zero game, would it be satisfactory for Nintendo to announce F-Zero: Cooking Simulator? I mean, that's a spin off that expands the F-Zero universe, right?

No. This is far from the same thing as that. Are you reading what you type. After umpteen years without an F-Zero game, would it be satisfactory for Nintendo to announce F-Zero: Cooking Simulator? I mean, that's a spin off that expands the F-Zero universe, right?
