There is a scene that MUST be there, in all of it's goofy glory. I will RIOT if they don't include this as a playable minigame:

I WANT to screw up the parade.... IN HD!!!

I really hope they can pull these moments off. FF7 had so much charm and character.

Somehow I doubt they're going to retain the weird mood whiplash of having Cloud snowboarding ten minutes after you-know-what happens...though it would be hilarious to watch.

Th main concerns is if the honeybee inn scene can be called "homophobic" or the domestic abuse is "triggering" and using retard as a slur is "bigoted"

Dude, relax. There's no huge SJW conspiracy to ruin your memories of FFVII.

I think I actually shed a tear when I heard it on FFIX.

And also, the remake MUST have this:

Barret-ffvii-sailor.png

I can live without Red XIII' sailor antics, but Barret HAS to wear the sailor outfit. No buts or ifs.

Honestly I would be more than okay with all the alternate costumes being used in the game as unlockables.

fuck i love ff7

Apart from voice overs I can't think of a bad song in the whole game.

weirdly enough, I think the Honeybee Inn music, the music from the cargo ship when Red XIIIs standing like a person, and the Chocobo music might be the worst in the game. those are the parts I want more than anything in the game itself, but the music's a bit too wonky for the really beautiful score.

This is actually one of my favorite themes in the entire FF franchise. I could listen to it for hours! I dont' know, it sounds so festive, so magnificent, but at the same time there's some sort of strange goofiness to it.

You know what this remake means right.

Muthafuckin' fully orchestrated FFVII soundtrack.

Two things I really want:

1. Nobuo Uematsu to return as composer
2. Option to turn off voice acting

If Square gives me these two things, I'll be happy :)

Type 0 is the only FF game that got a mature rating as far as I know.
I don't see them gunning for that label slapped on VII. But I would like the cussing to remain that's part of Cid's charm lol he's a grumpy asshole who curses like a sailor.
There's no damn way they could get away with a T rating anymore with it HD. The scene in Shinra tower after Sephiroth splatters the walls with blood and gore would turn it into a Dead Space game for a few minutes.

Hunting down the weapons and Chocobo breeding is gonna be amazing. I wonder how they're going to go about the world map though. If they did a full on FFXV style world map then traversing around would take a loooooong time since you are on foot for a while.

I hope they go for something closer to the stuff we've seen in Versus actually. Where the world map looks a lot smaller and more condensed. That would help a lot, and the world map would still be big enough that the airship would still be fun.

yeah world map could be an issue. don't think they can get away with having a little character on screen running from town to town, would feel outdated to many people.

Do you know what I hope they do ? Make the Midgar part of the game bigger and longer. Maybe have Avalanche and co blow up one more reactor so we can visit another sector. Or anything, really. It needs to take longer for the player to leave Midgar. Because that moment is one of the defining moments of my childhood, which is a testament to how powerful it was. If they can build on that by expanding Midgar, it would only make for a better experience. They could also take more time to develop the other members of Avalanche, such as Jessie and Biggs, before their ultimate demise. It would make the destruction of Sector 7 more impactful to the player.

I hope not, I was so happy to leave Midgar.

It was too dark and depressing, when I hit the world map I was ecstatic to see actual color and people not suffering.

If this trailer is anything to go by I think Midgar will be greatly expanded on.

Man I bet they have tons of plans for DLC for it. Costume packs, weapon packs maybe even weapons from the FF's after 7, maps and new quests, new summons packs, maybe even character packs.

One of my irrational fears is that by reimagining this game, they plan on setting it's entirety WITHIN Midgar. No world trekking, just Sector trekking, and a revelation that the Promised Land IS under Midgar somewhere. But like I said, that's irrational and they'd have to change a LOT of the story for that to be done.

Majority of the game took place outside of Midgar. Hell, I think one of the key parts of the game was traveling the world to see how Shinra and Mako siphoning has had an effect on the planet and it's people. This is a MAIN theme of the game.

I think some people are jumping the gun when they said it wont exactly be like the original.
They're not going to change things like Aeriths death as that what made the determination stronger to stop Sephiroth it's still a remake of VII

I can see them keeping the most important parts the same and expanding on or altering certain parts of the game like when you visit Zack's hometown and the rocket mission. Maybe turn the slap fest into a full blown fight woman to woman lol. (that would be ridiculous but hey)

Sigh... All this talk about how the game is going to be different... I was really hoping they'd just give us the same game with a consistent art style that wasn't schizophrenic like the original...

I'm not looking forward to "Final Fantasy VII as reimaged by the people who made Final Fantasy XIII, XIII-2, and XIII-3 Please like Lightning"

Yes I realize some of these people had hands in VII and XIII but they also had Sakaguchi reigning them in for FFVII...

As cool as it is to know that it's coming, it would have been nice if Sony had played up the announcement more, added more tension given it some oomph.

I think it was done perfectly imo.
It started out the same way as the PC port reveal so many of us thought we were going to get trolled again.

I don't think they need to expand on it. It's been a long time since I first played it but I think part of that holy crap I'm just now leaving the first city feel is because I spent so much time there. it was only after playing through the game multiple time that Midgar loses some of its scale. From what I recall you
you do two reactor missions, you meet aerith and go through the slums, go through the market, fight the turks and the sector is destroyed? and the whole Shinra tower section.
I'd say it takes 5-7 hours minimum for Midgar on a first playthrough.

Sakaguchi didn't do much in FFVII besides setting a very basic plotline, actually. Most of the credit of the game goes to Kitase and Nojima. They basically BUILT Final Fantasy VII.
