Hopefully with Nomura directing , the combat is KH esque/Action orientated.

How do you get around dumb AI party members then?
One of my irrational fears is that by reimagining this game, they plan on setting it's entirety WITHIN Midgar. No world trekking, just Sector trekking, and a revelation that the Promised Land IS under Midgar somewhere. But like I said, that's irrational and they'd have to change a LOT of the story for that to be done.
You don't.
Versus type gameplay is absolutely absurd for 9 playable characters. They can do it like FFXV with Cloud being the main focus, but even then that's too many characters to spend resources on. It works for FFXV since it has fewer party members and thus a tighter focus.
That's why I see them going for ATB or at least make it faster like it is with FFXIII.

I rewatched that trailer just earlier...that combat was so hypeLocal co-op could be a cool option to control your party members. Versus XIII also originally allowed you to take control of your party members even with the real-time combat. Imagine controlling Vincent or Barret with an almost third-person shooter perspective

The party limit in FFVII is 3. Not sure why you're suggesting controlling 9 characters simultaneously
hes saying that it would be too hard to create 9 playable characters in FFXV style. Type-0 mightve been simpler, but the combat was better and had 14 playable thoughThe party limit in FFVII is 3. Not sure why you're suggesting controlling 9 characters simultaneously

That limits you to one at a time, your other parties members will be fumbling dumb AI's still.
And good luck finding 2 other people to play with you, I don't have any friends left(irl) who like JRPGs.
Well... in ATB you're technically controlling one character at a time and then sitting through the animations. Maybe they can add some sort of active pause option for people to issue orders to ai. Online co-op could also be an option to the friends issue
I'm pretty sure we will get some of the tracks made by The Black Mages.
Like this one.

EDIT: When I finally get my hands in this remake, and when the first Boss Battle kicks in, and this theme plays in the background, I will go FUCKING APESHIT.
is it heresy to say i prefer the original version?
My big one fear is that they're going to overhaul the combat system with something else.

FF7 Remake Viewcount at 6.3mil just on the Playstation page.
Several times higher than the likes of Horizon, Uncharted and TLG.
I wonder if Sony knew just how fucking massive the announcement is? Like it should have been at the end of the conference instead of Uncharted 4. Wouldn't be surprised if they attempt a full on money-hat now.

After nearly a decade of pent-up demand? I'd hope so.
Can't wait to see what he says about this E3. Hasn't been online for a week. Master, where art thou?I knew of three. XV, another one which had a concept demo showcasing summons and traversal involving them and what I initially called FFXVI but now refer to as just another FF, and finally FF7. The middle one is what I assumed to be FFXVI or the next FF project beyond XV. This one comes out of nowhere. These spoilers are very detailed though. I'm hoping this is mobile, because if it's not, that means there is no FFXVI at the moment. There's no way SE can be doing this many big FF projects.
I bet you feel real proud of yourself, don't you Sherlock. But did you know Sherlock died in the end?
Servers don't last forever, in 10 years you'd be limited to AI party members for good outside of local and local will be impossible to find then.
In ATB everyone gets issued commands, no one does their own thing.(unless Berserk)

Who else is involuntarily drawn to a fresh playthrough of the original right now?
I want to remember the finer details of FF7 lore.
I may even play through the Compilation games.... I never beat either of them.
Hopefully with Nomura directing , the combat is KH esque/Action orientated.
I can say I want to control every party member and them never make a move I don't tell them to.Whew. So I'm finally ready to write more than just a few words. These last two days, man...
First of all: I told ya'll to believe King Verendus since 2013. Even the "summon traversal" prototype he saw back then is now revealed as World of FF. Only the "medieval" and "quite unique" FFXVI he teased is left now from his batch of info two years ago. See:

Now my 2¢ regarding FFVIIR:
FFVII is in my all-time Top 3 and I love it from the bottom of my heart, with all its quirks and faults. The atmosphere, the music, the setting, the crazy varied plot points ranging from initiating an eco-terror-attack probably killing innocents, to sneaking into a brothel, to being thrown into a desert prison from a floating amusement park, etc...
However: I don't want to play the same game again. If I would want that I could just play the original one and I'll probably still do that in 10 years even with the remake out.
Give me a reimagination. Do what you would have done 20 years ago when you had the technology you have today. Don't listen to people stuck in the past, afraid of change.
Create a new classic FF for today's audience that's also an exciting and refreshing revisit to the FFVII world for us life-long fans. It won't suddenly make the old game disappear or destroy our memories, would it?
Smaller story and script changes would be fine as long as the overarching plot and the main themes are still in.
When it comes to music SE has never disappointed, so nothing to say here as long as they don't butcher some tracks too much (like FFXHD's battle or Luca theme).
I can't believe some here seriously would want the same battle system (though admittedly, FFVII has the snappiest ATB from the PS1 era and I never had an issue with it on later replays compared to FFVIII and FFIX).
A question to those: do you really want the exact same battle system, like, party on the right, monsters on the left, waiting on the spot for their turns? Or would something like FFX-2 has, which imo is the best classic ATB in any FF (LR has the best modern one), be okay for you, too?
Classic ATB feels like such a waste of time nowadays. You don't gain "strategic" value by having your characters artificially wait before acting. FF battles are piss-easy and if you're really feeling challenged by 95% of normal battles, I don't know what to tell you. You can button-mash "Attack" most of the time with an occasional healing spell/item and a simple "enemy is blue, let's use fire" action. So when I'm button-mashing, anyway, I'd rather have it be in real-time to save some time and to at least feel like I'm involved.
Replaying FFX a few motnhs ago felt so slow and random encounters with so many simple, "Press X to Win" battles really tested my patience.
For FFVIIR I hope they build on FFX-2's system, which was a great evolution with additions like attack-canceling and moving party members, plus FFXII-like seamless battles.
A FFXV-like battle-system, as much as I'm excited for it, would be way too ambitious and time-consuming (see how difficult it is to make a flexible camera, a high-quality animation-system, complex collision with other objects and the environment, balance of movement and animation speed, etc. right for FFXV).
I wonder if the whole party walks around and can be used in fights simultaneously for once in a FF. Having the others disappear suddenly from the map and battles kinda seems too game-y nowadays with more realisticly presented games. Maybe we'll get the larger-scale battles that Kitase mentioned as a possible idea for future FFs in an interview last year.
---
Btw, I already said it, but SE pretty much hints at every unannounced FF years before in interviews when you actually read everything. Last year the CyberConnect2 president and even Kitase outright said they would like to make a possible FFVII remake.

Then there's the thing with a possible future FF developed by Eidos that Abe and Toriyama mentioned last year (not the one that was confirmed in 2013 to have been cancelled).
When I speculated about this rumor being true and FFXVI being developed by Eidos recently, Verendus responded to me strangely, implying that I might be right (though I don't know if he maybe just meant the cancelled one I mentioned before). See:

Now that you mention the PC version, it's suddenly a shame that the PS4 port isn't out now... I'm curious how that version will look.Yep, just started replaying the Steam version.
The thing is that by the time the remake comes out... Whatever playthrough you begin now will also be a distant memory.I'm tempted to.
I know the remake is 2 years out, but it's been a good while since my last playthrough of FF7. So I'm tempted to wait it out and wait for the remake so I can basically re-experience the game with a near fresh mind
lol
Not at all. Black Mages just plain suck. Too flowery.is it heresy to say i prefer the original version?
There is a scene that MUST be there, in all of it's goofy glory. I will RIOT if they don't include this as a playable minigame:

I WANT to screw up the parade.... IN HD!!!
Somehow I doubt they're going to retain the weird mood whiplash of having Cloud snowboarding ten minutes after you-know-what happens...though it would be hilarious to watch.

Street Fighter V is exclusive to PS4??
