[IGN] 40 minute Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain demo 1080p60 - 6/18 at 5 AM PST

I think there are legit concerns about how spread out the game is with the amount of side ops, and the potential for players to grow tired of the gameplay before they reach the end.

It's not the first time it's happened with an open world game, and it won't be the last. However, it seems they are doing things to combat game fatigue by having enemies that combat a players static play styles, meaning I probably can't go into multiple bases doing the same shit over and over, which is generally the number one cause of player fatigue, repetition.

I still have a few concerns, I wish the enemy guards were more aware of distant movement and sound. Sure, Snake hit a chair and had a guard investigate, but the mech magically being silent as the player hears it tear shit up, sneaking up on a guard is pretty OP and laughable, along with Snake running completely silent and screaming "DD" right next to the guards with them not noticing.

Small details, yes, but it's the small details in a game that thrives on small details that make games for me. When I see things like that go unnoticed it takes me out.

Did you play Ground Zeroes on Hard? The enemies become much more aware and notice you faster and from further distances.

The Hardest mission in Ground Zeroes on Hard is Rescue Kojima Mission Non-lethal trying to S-rank it.

The rest are fairly easy to S-rank once you know a good strategy , but yes the AI has pretty high awareness about a 25-30ish M sight radius on a bright sunny day.

If research is instant, maybe the microtransactions are to buy blueprints instead of having to find them, or buy S tier staff etc? Basically like the unlock DLC for Burnout Paradise way back when. Pay 5$, unlock all cars instantly.

...Shit, if that's what it is I'd pay it. Finding all the weapons in PW was kind of a chore.

No there is no way to unlock stuff early , at least thats what someone said asking a Dev in E3 on MGS Reddit. Unless he's lying who knows.

I personally enjoyed finding lots of shit in Peace Walker.

I think this is one of those things that are so because of gameplay reasons. The mech is completely silent but in order to give the player some feedback it makes noise. Like the noise is only for the player's convenience but as far as the game world and the enemies are considered it's silent for them. Like how in TLoU Ellie is invisible to enemies for gameplay reasons, but she is "there" at the same time.

Just noticed something in the video.

Missions will have various optional tasks within themselves, probably offering further mission development and also reward. In this instance, this mission can be completed by just eliminating the target, but taking the time to extract the target will complete this and no doubt offer some reward. I imagine if you interrogate him, there will be further objectives made available with further reward.

Not sure if it was like this in PW, but this is a nice touch. Players can dictate length of the mission, but will also reward those who take time to learn the game mechanics. This was kind of the case in GZ, except there was no visual notification of this.

That didn't stop people from saying Ground Zeroes is a 5minute demo posting people running the main mission and none of the side ops in 3min ish.

Of course the guy had multiple failures he was playing on European Extreme.

Uncharted 4 and this game is going to be Glorious.
I feel so spoiled this year. So many great and insanely good looking games coming. MGSV, DOOM, Hitman, Horizon, Deus Ex, the list just goes on. Can't imagine what things will look like in 10 years.

Whatever if you feel that the games take a long time to complete after you memorized most of the stuff and had a bit of practice then its your opinion.

Please go through all the conversation we've had. You have no idea what you're arguing about and what I am talking about. And ofcourse because you are so confused about what you want to argue about you just finish it off with a " Whatever".
Edit: fuck it I'll just post a picture to show it

"Comfortably" and "in less than 3 hours"?
Get out lol
If you interpret this as me finding completion in 3 hours amazing and automatically assume I am bad at these games then perhaps you should read better. I was replying how completing in 3 hours is not " comfortably possible" because you have to play the game many times and fail may times to succeed here. Also why were you even talking about speedruns while discussing playtime ?

Is it possible to play MGS games within 3 hours the first time you play them without any knowledge? No...then the game is not " less than 3 hours" in length. End of story !

Really like what ive seen on this game, seems like such an awesome game to end this amazing series

Even tho i have a high end gaming PC, ill get this on PS4, just seems fitting to round off the series on the same system i played MGS1 on all those years ago

I'm still in the middle of MGS 2 so I don't want to see spoilers. I watched E3 2014's gameplay demo last week and was hooked (just skipped the short cutscene at the start). This game looks incredible. Is there just a cutscene at the beginning I can skip like E3 2014 or is this demo more story focused?

I have more money than time, so it's aimed at me. In any case, with speed pass you skip the lines, not the attraction. This only works if you think the main game is like waiting in line, in which case it's a doubly terrible design decision and it affects everyone.
It doesn't really matter what you're skipping. If you consider it unenjoyable and/or are impatient, what's so bad about spending money to skip it? (As long as it doesn't affect the balance of the game for others)

I'll try to explain to you what you did.

You wrote this before I even said anything about the playtime and yet you claim later that you wrote it because I find finishing MGS games in 3 hours amazing (which is you putting words in my mouth because I said no such things). Do you see me saying anything about playtime there in the post you quoted? No

Then I said this AFTER, you told me to learn from watching speedruns.

A game's length is largely determined by the player.

End of story , if you suck and want to take 20hrs . The game is 20hrs . If you finish it in 1hr , you finish it in 1hr.

Considering previous games could be beaten comfortably in less than 3 hrs and had way more than 3hrs worth of Cutscenes.

Its funny how people want more Cutscenes less Gameplay.

Watch people play Ground Zeroes and speedrun it . You'll learn a lot.

This is my original post. which meant to imply the previous game has way more cutscenes than actual gameplay if you run even at a comfortable pace.

People were complaining that there was too much gameplay not enough 'story'.

"Comfortably" and "in less than 3 hours"?

Yes people can play this game pretty damn comfortably without being full tryhard and make it in way less 3hrs .

Honestly Metal Gear Solid games are dictated so much by muscle memory and memory of how the game works.

I can comfortably run through the all Ground Zeroes mission on Hard and S-Rank it in 1hr.

Nah, if you look at it closely it says "Development time = 0 Minutes" which means that either they shortened it for this demo, or this one doesn't take any time.

We'll know when the game comes out. If I'm wrong I'm wrong.

Man, this looks amazing. I'm gonna miss the more linear, story-filled craziness of the first four games, but this still looks like a great ending for Kojima and MGS.

This looks like an open world game done right, but that's not what I want from Metal Gear. Hopefully it's closer to old Metal Gear games in structure and not just a stealth Assassin's Creed.

These blood blobs...lol

Ok, but from a balance perspective having D-Walker be silent to the enemy, have CQC abilites, have extreme mobility and a gatling gun is pretty insane.

Like the box with the sexy ladies and shit, I won't use it, it breaks my immersion in the game world and as of current plays completely OP.

Give me Quite to scout and I'm g2g

Not blood blobs, it's film reals burning.

Its obviously melting film because TIME PARADOX!!

D-Walker being able to strafe in wheel mode is awesome, everything they showed from the stealth to the action looked perfect.

You can't use D-Walker in Interiors , at least I think you can't. Also he can't cover you.

Honestly I don't get how you see bloodblobs it really looks like film that is burning and that was my first thought too.

No way it's like Assassin's Creed, this actually has good gameplay and fun mechanics.

It's likely mid-to-end game level D-Walker for demonstration purposes. You probably have to do a ton of research to get him to that stage.

The way he got 'caught' is so ridiculous , he saw the warning indicator and walked in the direction of the soldier.

I'm glad he did otherwise we wouldn't have seen how insane it can get if you do.

Plus, ROCKET DODGE! Someone needs to gif that. Stat!

Too much gun blazing at the end.

You can avoid it, right?

Of course you can, don't get spotted, don't alert guards, don't go in gun's a-blazing, be stealthy and smart and slow.

The fact that you have a choice to do either and the game can handle both stealth and all out action is a huge testament to how well it's made.
