i don't think they will try to save cost on their most important project. Why should they??
Square Enix that even spend over 100 Million on the Tomb Raider Reboot

That this game will sell a lot of million copies is also given - so go full force with it

SE is playing their biggest hand right now with REMAKE.

I'm just wondering how much of the company they're betting with REMAKE and how much money is getting thrown at them by Sony.

He was in the trailer so...
Huh? I didn't see any purple. It was very hard to see the colors because of the tone.

I'm talking about bright purple too.
I can't wait to see how they handle his mako poisoning in the remake. That glow in his eyes will be cool to see in current gen.
I really hope they actually add that feature. They haven't done it in his other representations and it's something I've always hated they ignore. His eyes are supposed to stand out.

If I had to guess, a reasonable release date time for FFVII would be late 2017/early 2018.

However, I would not be surprised if it easily slipped into late 2018/early 2019.

He went into depression. That's what happens when you think your not worth life cause of shit that went down that you feel your responsible for. The more happy he got after 7, the more depressed he felt because he didn't feel he deserved it, and with Geostigma, it really made him very enclosed.

If you look at Crisis core Cloud, he's happy as fuck. I was actually shocked how expressive he was, he was like a normal guy, as happy as Zack even(although Zack also got way more serious by the end of the game).

People use meme's of "Emo Cloud" without even knowing the backstory.
This. I understand that people are upset that the character they loved isn't how they remember him, but there's a reason for it.

If the reaction is anything to go by I assume Sony will throw a lot to lock in that console exclusive and to help development.

My point was to remark they are going to use "Emo Cloud" in the remake instead of the Real Cloud.

Can you imagine this sad fuck here?

Kalm is such a strange place. It contrasts Midgar by being a medieval small town with next to nothing going on. It serves no purpose other than being a resting spot for Cloud to tell his story. Yet it still remains being a memorable place.

It really is a bizarre feeling when you arrive there.

Up until then all you know is Midgar. Then all of a sudden you're in some unknown town and everything has gone to shit.

Being young and playing the game I suppose I felt intimidated and anxious being thrown out the comforts of midgar with so many questions! And then combined with the music and it captures a really special feeling !

No, because he was not sad in vanilla FFVII until he went into coma.

AC Cloud != FFVII Cloud

I don't know why people are saying that the remake is going to be like AC when AC was a separate thing.

I wonder if they'll keep the screen flashes for Cloud's delusions.

Cloud wasn't even acting like Cloud there.

It's crazy how many people keep pointing at Don Corneo scene as something so valuable in the game when it's a really small part of the whole.

Eh. As much as I understand the difference, many representations of Cloud have started to take from AC and this is something they could implement into the remake.

I guess I can see where people are concerned about Cloud keeping his personality from VII in the remake. He was how he should be in Crisis Core, but Dissidia Cloud was mopey like in AC even though he should have been cocky.

This reminds me... in the compilation games they more or less changed out Sephiroth's original main theme "Those Chosen By The Planet" and overused the more iconic "One Winged Angel" in it's place. This happened in Crisis Core as well which was a prequel, before he was even corrupt let alone Safer Sephiroth. If they did that again for the remake by using variations of OWA throughout the game as his theme instead of TCBTP, it would take away something special compared to the original where they waited until this final battle if you ask me.
TCBTP is sooooo creepy - I remember having nightmares about when those ghostly synth-vocals come in right before you leave to see Nibelheim in flames. You are right. One-Winged Angel is so powerful because it is coming face to face with a God. It's the final showdown of man versus man, man versus himself; it should be self-contained by mere importance.

I picked up VII way later than others (probably about 2000 or 2001) but I can just imagine how fantastic and terrifying it must have been to start hearing real vocals during your last and final fight. That was one of the first times real vocals had been used like that, right?

And that lasted a very short time, he was confident again pretty quickly.

Crisis Core Cloud is totally different form AC Cloud.

Heck, what little we know of the design in FFVII remake is already more reminiscent of FFVII than AC.

Not just that, the design in the new Dissidia is more like FFVII than AC as well.

delusions? or memories?

thats written in future tense, e3 is in the past

Well, they weren't real memories. He put himself in place of Zack, he knows this despite reality, so...yeah, delusions. :)

Dissidia Cloud is sad because he's caught in a war where everybody he knows is dying.

It's important to note that the Buster Sword design for Cloud is closer to the original one in FF7, and not the redesigned buster sword from CC.

FFVII Cloud was grumpy and snarky. Not unlike a lot of Gaffers.

Near the end of the game, he chippered up and became a leader.

AC is an abomination of his character. Good fight scenes, tho.

I actually really like Bike G's designs. They should be the portrait art.

Absolutely. But I'm referring to things like Dissidia and Kingdom Hearts and other spin offs he's featured in.

I'm not saying it's going to happen but it's not something that I can rule out either.

just a few posts above someone explains why he was and should have been depressed during AC....

This is why I absolutely do not blame anyone for not wanting compilation elements to have a strong presence in the remake.

At least they added the Kalm Traveller sidequest to the US/PAL versions, to make it a bit more memorable.

It makes logical sense with the progression of the plot. Stop being thick. AC is literally the only time he is depressed outside of Dissidia where everyone he knows is dying left and right, and KH2 which...is supposed to tie into FFAC. KH1...i dont know...

I remember Kalm fondly because I think it was the first area to deal with the issue of how Mako impacted the everyday life's of people in a balanced sense.

Sure things are more convenient, but because no one has to rely on each other as much, the community isn't as close knit as it used to be.

Just subbed to this thread

I imagine this will be the official remake thread for the foreseeable future, at least until we get more info at Psx or whenever

Strap yourselves in folks, this is gonna be the ride of a lifetime (let's hope it doesn't take a lifetime for it to release)

Same demo as before... go up to the Reactor explosion.

The PC demo was extraordinarily weird. It took place on the pathway to the North Corel Reactor (with the rollercoaster and everything), with some small tweaks, like Red XIII not being there with your left out party member to cheer you on as you walk across the bridge.

Also, characters were WAYYYYY overleveled for that part of the game and had some Materia you can't get until later on. It was just a weird demo. It ends with the party getting on the transport to the Gold Saucer, but it doesn't actually show North Corel town.

Haven't been keeping up with a lot of the developments, so I figured I'd ask here:

Are they planning on retaining/refining the ATB system in the original? I honestly wouldn't even want to play this if it was removed... Just wouldn't be FF7.

I'm happy and sad.

Happy because so many of you grew up with FFVII; its your first one. Now you're getting potentially, a masterpiece class remake.

Sad, because I didn't start with VII, I started with VI. Maybe one day :-(

no word yet

On dualshockers they have some crowd reactions from the theater. Am I weird for crying along with them?

I get teary-eyed whenever I see the trailer. even after 100 times.

unless you got a time machine you cannot change what game you started playing with

The moment I realized the voiceover was talking about the legacy of the original and a remake, rather than the plot of a sequel or spinoff, will forever be ingrained in my memory

I legitimately broke into tears

"Yet with each fond remembrance we knew, those encountered were nor forgotten. That someday we would see them again."

I get it man. The feelings I have for FF7, the yearning I've had to see it revisited, I can't imagine what you're feeling right now either. I'm picturing them announcing an FF8 remake instead of 7 and my heart would be shattered.

You will get your FF6 someday!

I watched the trailer by itself this morning with my cup of coffee and started to tear up a bit. 3 days later it still got me shook. So we can at least be weird together.

It's not just the trailer itself, but the 18 years of emotional baggage that comes with it. An overwhelming sense of relief, mostly. Finally, it's really happening, and we can stop being jerked around by "Compilation" stuff, Tech Demos, vain teases, Hashimoto's laughter, all of that. It makes me so happy I can cry. :)

People keep mistaken Zack's personality for Cloud's have any of you guys played Crisis Core?

Cloud was always a emo loser until the events that happened with him and Zack.

Huh? Cloud was a quiet guy but he wasn't mopey or depressed.

Plus Cloud isn't even that much like Zack in VII. He has his confidence and habits but he's far more snark and uncaring.

It's a small part of the whole but it's still a part. If they remove it people will be pissed.
