VR is definitively going to be a tough sell to a crowd. Best thing you can do is show what they're seeing, with perhaps the back of their head in the shot dead center to show off headtracking and then explain you're "in the game, where you look you see in game", then have people try it out for themselves and be the judge. It's a hands-on affair.
I've been waiting a long-long time for VR to hit, basically since I started gaming on an Atari 2600 (i'm old). I held back from getting a Rift dev kit because I didn't want to spoil that experience when I try it out, wanting a more "finalized" experience from the headtracking and display. That said, I'm ready, and if Adam Boyes, Lucky, or someone wants to hook this old man up to try it out, I'd humbly accept the offer.
