The disruptor description says it lowers abilities. But what exactly does that mean? It sure doesn't feel like it lowers damage output or defense.
I know 100% it slows them down, decreases their jump height, and marks them for your team to see even when under ink.
I think it decreases their ink recovery, and increases their ink expenditure.
I'm not really sure but I get the feeling it decreases turning speed, as disrupted people typically have a really hard time reacting when attacked from behind.
Hmm, so I guess if the squid isn't running away, you throw a disruptor on them and then flank them? Otherwise maybe it's useful against ink-heavy weapons. Seems kind of useless to use it when you go head on.
As someone who uses disruptors regularly, they're useful for flanking and ambushes. If the enemy sees you, it won't be any use unless you have a big height advantage. If they don't see you, you can use it and run straight at them (or jump down on them, more often) and they'll typically be dead before they even realize what's happened.
Also, disruptors seriously fuck with rollers and brushes. Because of their need to run around to spread ink effectively they become sitting ducks just waiting to be picked off.
And if someone (especially a brush) is trying to run away you can lob a disruptor in their path and stop them in their tracks, then go on over and finish them off.
They're pretty useful when you know how to use them.
