eh, it'll at least get the eyes of people looking at the teamconan facebook page onto the kickstarterSaw those too and I'm just like :|
Crazy the backlash from game journos.
He said he was looking into continuing funding after the Kickstarter ends, and honestly I'm fairly certain they'll do that. Worked out very well for other Kickstarted projects.Suzuki should just set up a patreon after Kickstarter, he'd get 50k-100k per months easy until the end of development![]()
To be honest, I don't like this video all that much. The $10m part needs to go.GAF ! If you know another language please help us to to create subtitles for the Shenmue III - Alternative Kickstarter Video using this tool: https://amara.org/pt/videos/kQizNCy4...-video-no-dub/
The video editing is cheap, but conceptually it's stronger than what's on the Kickstarter right now. I look at it more as a mock-up of what they should have done.To be honest, I don't like this video all that much. The $10m part needs to go.
Edit: I was thinking some people saying this should be the KS video derp.
I would at least partially agree with that. Just saying it needs work and some re-thinking of the message too.The video editing is cheap, but conceptually it's stronger than what's on the Kickstarter right now. I look at it more as a mock-up of what they should have done.
That would mean you would need a dreamcast, however.
Kickstarter has stagnated to $50k per day now. This might not even break $5mil before it's over.
i'd be interested in cutting together a video, if anybody has any high res gameplay and cutscene footage i can lay my hands on
nah, i don't want to use compressed youtube footage
Need to put more coal in the fires. Is it just me or has the funding momentum ground to a halt? I keep checking and it seems like the number is barely changing.
Kickstarters generally try to keep the passion high with meaningful updates and new information that will get press coverage. They best ones also tend to reach out to the community in order to encourage them to be active on social media in order to keep it in the zeitgeist. We constantly talk about what Bloodstained did right, but there is a reason for that, they nailed their campaign with great outreach. Is it just me or has the funding momentum ground to a halt? This Kickstarter has more or less gone silent for the last four days or so. I'm hoping there is some kind of shakeup happening behind the scenes.

Yes, I think that is true.Is it possible that the fact this is a direct sequel to two old games is creating a barrier for entry?
Bloodstained has an advantage in that people can jump in without having to worry about playing any other titles, so it's bringing in both old school Castlevania fans and newer generations who maybe aren't familiar with them but want to get in on the hype.
Shenmue 3 may scare some people off who aren't familiar with the previous entries, so perhaps that limits the backer number ceiling.

Just for your information, fellow GAF Shenmue fans...
I will be working on a video to release before the final week of the Kickstarter (and onwards for paypal) that will take a historical look at Shenmue, the context of why it was so important, the man behind the creation of new genres, and why I shed a few tears in the San Francisco theater during the PlayStation E3 2015 press conference.
To aid me in this, I'm replaying the games with almost no HUD (at times, anyway) to capture some 1080p widescreen footage of the game. Here is a screen.

May also be doing some illustrative artwork to express my love for this series before the release of the video!

I know this may seem like port-begging, but if the expected final budget will be much more than $10,000,000, and if the kickstarter is currently asking for $10,000,000 (meaning that $10,000,000 is critical to the creation of the game)...
Then doesn't that mean it's still possible the game could come out on other consoles other than PC/PS4? What's stopping the game from coming out on XB1 if the game hasn't even been fully funded yet?

This generally happens. It will likely pick back up towards the end. $10 mil isn't realistic though. It'll probably end up between 5 and 6 mil.
If the KS raises $6 million by the deadline, I wonder how that will affect Sony and their plans.

That's not exactly true. Yakuza is basically Shenmue repackaged in an easier-to-swallow form. Even if they do have their differences, it's an apt (and common) comparison.it's really the only game of it's kind, so there are no easy comparisons to be made. With Bloodstained you can just say "It's a Metroidvania game" or with MN9 "It's a Mega Man type game."
You can't really define Shenmue in the space of a tweet.

Anyone else worried we still might never see the conclusion to the series? If 3 bombs then we sure as hell won't be getting 4. I kinda wish Yu tries to end the story with 3.
Yeah, there's no question about the handling of the Kickstarter, it could be better. I'm kind of hoping they just weren't prepared for the goal to be met so soon so they've been working to implement more tiers the last week.

Hopefully this line in the last update is about that.
