Her Story is the new video game from Sam Barlow, creator of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories and Aisle. A crime fiction game with non-linear storytelling, Her Story revolves around a police database full of live action video footage. It stars Viva Seifert, actress and one half of the band Joe Gideon and the Shark. Her Story grants players access to a police database of archived video footage that covers seven interviews from 1994 in which a British woman is interviewed by detectives about her missing husband. Players take on the role of the person sat before a police computer terminal, their own computer or device playing the part of the fictional computer. They type search queries and the database returns clips of the answers where the woman speaks those words.

The App Store is telling me its not available when I go to purchase. Might have to go with PC on this. I love what Ive seen so far

I heard it's $5. Any clue if it's the usual $5 = 5€ bullshit?

Love the idea of this. Very few games even attempt to anything like an "investigation" angle, and the ones that do are pretty simple so that you can't miss anything. Hope they pull it off.

Humble lists it for 5€ sigh. Still buying it of course, looks right up my alley

Is there a reason to choose iPad over PC or PC over iPad?

Probably just depends on what inputs you like. if you're rearranging your fictional desktop and typing in search queries, I'd personally prefer PC.

Also seems like most of the reviews (at least in the OP) are reviewing the PC version.

I did try to find a review specifically for iphone/ipad but I did not have any luck.

I've played it on both. It's great on iOS, but honestly, there's something nicer about the actual keyboard on a PC that makes that the preferable system. ANYWAY the game is superb so just get it either way and all that.

£3.99 on iOS in the UK (obvs)

I can't wait to try this thing! The iPad'll be happy it's not just an FTL device for a bit.

No, I don't mean it can reach faster-than-light speeds.

This seems really interesting. I've never cared much for FMV games but the premise sounds compelling. I think I'll go with the PC version on this just because of the typing.

This is coming to phones as well, right? Not usually my kind of thing, but with all the acclaim this has been getting I might pick it up for the right price.

Ooh, I somehow missed that this was coming to iOS. Downloading now (via work wi-fi - EXTRA WIN).

That RPS review really, really sold me on it. Plus, I have a decent keyboard for my iPad, so should be able to bypass the immersion-breaking virtual keyboard.

Now I just have to find time to play the thing :(

I've been excited about this since it was announced and all the reviews are only making me more hyped. Gonna be a long day at work today.

seems like really clever way of using fmv in gameplay.
waiting for the code, really hyped.

can anyone confirm if there is a subtitle option for the game.
i had hard time understanding some of her lines in the trailer (not a native speaker)

I asked Sam a few weeks ago on Twitter and he confirmed English subs only. I'm not a native speaker too, but English subs are good enough for me

There is. Interesting game so far although I'm not entirely sold on the acting yet, feels a bit off at times.

thanks..
yeah having played most of 90's fmv adventures, i can definitely believe acting can make or break these type of games (especially so with a solo-performance)
still reviews look promising.

I'm really curious about this game. A play-along SERIAL, if executed correctly, would be wonderful. Waiting for the reviews.

So excited to play this when I get home tonight!

It's so funny how last week's Steam sale has created an ever-growing pile of awesome unplayed titles, but all I want to do is try out this new FMV game that I only just heard about days ago.

It's funny what moves us.

Downloading now on iOS but man, the App Store download is slow today.

Does the game have iCloud saving? So we can play and continue on different devices?

I'll be honest, I'm kind of taken aback by the reviews so far! Put a lot of love into this game, so it's amazing to see such a response.

(If big images like this are frowned upon, feel free to kick my arse).

Quick question, Mr. Barlow.

Reviews seem to be unanimously praising the quality of writing and acting in in Her Story. How did you settle on the actor Viva Seifert? Did you put out a standard roll call or were you familiar with her work beforehand? Did you test a lot of people?

The final casting seems pretty spectacular based on her reception.

premium Steam price? >_>

its actually 5.99€ for us (15% discount puts it at 5.09€) compared to the 4.99€ on humble store...what the fuck? Its not a big deal, its just the principle of it

not to mention the $=€ thing but we're used to that now

I'm still reeling from the gut-punch ending(s) of Shattered Memories, and the build-up to them, so I'm really interested to check this out. I haven't tried Her Story yet, but I've already recommended it to my friend who is a huge fan of murder mysteries.

Has there been any news on the Humble Bundle situation yet? Thinking of asking for a refund and purchasing on Steam if they have no idea how long it will be.

Apparently Humble offices don't open til 10am, which is in (I think) about 40 mins. I imagine/hope it'll be quite simple to sort once they're open.
