Xbox One adds Xbox 360 backwards compatibility

Have we heard any word on fixing the resolution in Perfect Dark? On 360 it runs at 1080p and on Xbox One it is downscaled to 720.

Also the controls feel off, the sensitivity curve is wrong I think. It moves too quickly too fast. Makes it tough for those of us that play with Auto-Aim off (breaks the game IMO).

Switching back and forth between the 360 version really shows how much accuracy you lose in the BC Xbox One version :(

PDZ definitely did not run at 1080p. like not even close.
edit. read incorrectly. you mean the original. yeah thats unfortunate it isnt full res. i think the emulator just isnt capable of that yet.
havent played without auto aim so i cant comment.

Do you have the "lock sight" option on? The controls feel about the same to me, though I do notice major framerate drops that didn't exist on the 360 version.

Would be nice to be able to play OG xbox games on 360 on xbox one. For me I'd love to play Shenmue II, Rallisport Challenge, and Mashed.

I've been playing PD on my X1 quite a bit lately, and the lowered resolution isn't super noticeable, IMO. Looks like it's being rendered internally at 1080, then downscaled to 720 then being reupscaled to 1080 via the X1.

Also, did you lose your 360 savegame when playing on X1? Had pretty much everything unlocked and then I downloaded it to test the BC and my save was not there. :/

The next big MS mic-drop: They allow full, 100% OG XB compatibility AND bring the original Live servers back online. RSC2? PGR2? Fucking give it to me NOW.

I agree and it's probably just a matter of time. I mean, the 360 emulates OG Xbox games. The XB1 emulates the entire 360 OS via VM. So yea...

That certainly is awfully inefficient though. Emulating a PPC architecture that is emulating a x86 platform - on a x86 system. Just asking for trouble on that one.

Well, wouldn't that be a more efficient way of doing it than re-doing the work they already did on Xbox 360 emulation? They could add more titles that way without having to re-do it again.

I don't think it would THAT much work just redoing a direct emulator OGxbox-Xbox One.

The real limiter I think is the Nvidia royalties they'd have to pay. I'm not sure they'd want to do that. More likely we'll see recompiled Xbox Originals show up on the store and MAYBE some form of BC authentication, but without an emulator - doubtful on that last part though. I dunno.

I don't give a huge shit about BC, but I'm thinking about getting an Xbone soon to complete my gen 8 console collection. There's a 1TB MCC edition for $399. Is now a good time to jump on, or are there better deals out there?

And sorry for asking here. I didn't feel it warranted a new thread :p

There were deals that had other games and a $50 gift card + 12 months XBL for a good price as well recently I think? Theres been some goof offers for sure at the moment

Yep I have lock sight on and auto aim off. Had both versions on and switched back and forth. May be the (in my opinion inferior) Xbox One controller at fault but I can say 100% that the sensitivity curve does not leave enough room for fine aim on the XBO.

Not super noticeable, but when you play it as much as me I could tell right away and I did not like it ;)

I agree it seems to be rendered at 1080 then downscaled down and back up again. Which is insane!

PD is one of my favourite games of all time. I have played it several times a year since release (still have my N64 just for that game, although the XBLA version means I never play it now) so in order to happily retire my 360 I need to know the XBO version is at least as good as the 360 version.

And yes I lost my save which was odd because when trying to change save location to the cloud it said there was already a save there and did I want to save over it?! Must be a BD bug. No worries, good excuse to redo everything :)

Phil Spencer said on the Podcast Unlocked that the 360 GwG games will show up as BC at some point

If MS put's up a 360 store within XB1 I'm sure more publishers will jump on board for games they don't have to repay for ESRB, etc. so they make some sales.

I feel the same way with the 360 version. That was the first thing I noticed when the game came out originally. It's like the game doesn't like diagonal aiming. When you aim it'll move vertically or horizontally only and not at the speeds you'd want it to. There's also a gigantic deadzone so making fine adjustments is a pain.

I hooked up my 360 last night and I flipped between both versions on the same level with the same settings and for me it handles the same. The X1 joysticks are more sensitive but that's it. I don't doubt that you could have a bug that I don't have but for me it's the same in both versions.

I was not talking about the "aiming" when holding L2. I agree that is mega borked on both versions. Diagonals are not right, feels horrible compared to N64.

Luckily I only use that for the sniper rifle and that very rare in the game.

Maybe my Xbox One controller is faulty (although it seems fins in Halo 4). But 100% without a doubt the sensitivity curve is off on Perfect Dark on XBO for me. I know the feel of that game like the back of my hand and could tell right away. Ran them side by side to make sure I am not crazy and there is no doubt it's worse on XBO.

Dead zone on the XBO controller sucks, especuially since the DS4 has almost no dead zone at all!

Maybe it's my controller, or maybe the XBO controller is just inferior (I think it is anyway) in it's sensitivity curve and I need to buy that damn $150 Elite controller! ;)

They need to announce a new wave of BC games already! You would think publishers would be lined up ready to hit the button with this. It's a sure fire way to drum up new sales of old games. Give me my Nuts and Bolts!

Once a month sadly :'(

nice - just as they announce Gears of War 3 for 360 GwG for July. Never played that. I really should have been 'buying' these on the website every month just in case - missed quite a few quality 360 games.

You never played Gears 3!? You need to remedy that. It's a really good game.

Rallisport Challenge! <3 What a game that was.

vote here on Xbox Feedback and help us get the attention needed to make OG Xbox backwards compatibility happen!

Impressive he's mentioning gow1 for backward compatibility. Would have expected them to not ok that one since they are doing the remaster
