Xbox One adds Xbox 360 backwards compatibility

There were deals that had other games and a $50 gift card + 12 months XBL for a good price as well recently I think? Theres been some goof offers for sure at the moment

Thanks duder. I didn't want to bump the thread again unless it was on the first page, but I picked up the 1TB MCC bundle and got Arkham Knight and a $50 credit for free. Now I just need to grow a mustache so I can twirl it malevolently as the proles engage in their list wars.

I was not talking about the "aiming" when holding L2. I agree that is mega borked on both versions. Diagonals are not right, feels horrible compared to N64.

Luckily I only use that for the sniper rifle and that very rare in the game.

Maybe my Xbox One controller is faulty (although it seems fins in Halo 4). But 100% without a doubt the sensitivity curve is off on Perfect Dark on XBO for me. I know the feel of that game like the back of my hand and could tell right away. Ran them side by side to make sure I am not crazy and there is no doubt it's worse on XBO.

Dead zone on the XBO controller sucks, especuially since the DS4 has almost no dead zone at all!

Maybe it's my controller, or maybe the XBO controller is just inferior (I think it is anyway) in it's sensitivity curve and I need to buy that damn $150 Elite controller! ;)

I just meant regular aiming as well, I only use the LT aiming with the sniper or farsight too.

It could be your controller, or a glitch, or maybe I'm just not noticing the differences that are there. Like you I've played PD a ton so I don't know, I tend to think our games or controllers are just acting differently and we're not crazy lol. I'd be interested in hearing what others have to say about this.

I play wired most of the time I should add (controller). I doubt it matters but I though I'd add that.

Perfect Dark (XBLA) appeared on the compatible list but cannot find it for download on Xbox One "ready to install" list.

Are you a preview member?

I bought Hexic HD (or got it free for 360 years ago) and I went into the Xbox website and ordered it again for 360. I waited about 10 minutes, and then it popped up on Xbox One under "Ready to install".

But you need to be a preview member.

You never played Gears 3!? You need to remedy that. It's a really good game.

Totally agree, Gears 3 was really good, IMO. 4 player co-op was a great addition to the franchise and graphically was a treat as well. I enjoyed it much better than 2, which felt rushed with a garbage final boss fight to boot.

Rod Ferguson also just retweeted this:

Gears 3 in Wave 1 would be glorious.

It seems like there are a lot of playing Gears 3 on 360 recently so I imagine they would like to push those people to Xbox Ones if possible, so I would expect Gears 3 to come in one of the first few waves.

Yes.
On my list appeared: Defense Grid, Toy Soldier and Banjo-Tooie.

Odd, try this trick (works even if your not a preview member). Goto Twitch and search for perfect dark xbox one. If there is anyone playing it you can pull up the store listing for the game and download it from there. I did that before I was even a preview member.

Impressive he's mentioning gow1 for backward compatibility. Would have expected them to not ok that one since they are doing the remaster

Spencer said he thinks that remasters are, in some way, a transitional period of games between generations but that remasters also have their purpose in other ways (integral years for a franchise might warrant one). He also said that backwards compatibility won't prevent remasters and remasters won't prevent backwards compatibility (at least for Microsoft who is trying to take a leadership role by making every first party game back compat so other devs may follow).

Source?

Would love to hear if this helps with Mass Effect frame rate issues, or if its broader PAL support, etc.

"Source" was me reading what the update says in the dashboard preview app. The update installed last night when I posted originally.

I haven't noticed any differences, but I don't have Mass Effect on XBOX (Steam), and I have been deep into the MCC campaigns anyways.

Just thinking about this. The best thing about BC is going to be playing through all these games over again with the Elite controller. Man. So awesome.

Man, EA has a great opportunity to absolutely kill it in terms of value proposition if they start filling EA Access with BC titles.

It could be an awesome mic drop moment at Gamescom for sure.

So....as a Preview Member, would I be able to insert my Halo Reach disc right now and play it on my X1? It'll automatically install it and I won't need my disc anymore...? Is this correct?

No, Halo Reach isn't available as a BC title on the Xbox One, yet.

Reach isn't on the list yet, and you'd still need your disc.

Got it.

So all my retail games would require the disc in my X1 at all times, right? As for my digitally downloaded 360 games, how can I access those on my X1?
Licensing works as it does on 360. If you own a digital copy, you can download and play on your XB1. If you own a disc, you insert the disc.

The fact that you can take screen shots and record clips makes this much more than just simple emulation. This is a big deal for me - itll make me want to replay so many games just to record cool stuff.

I'm sorry, but I remember the 360 and its backwards compatibility with the xbox. It was NOT something that makes me feel inclined to trust them yet on this. I'll wait a good long while till after its been around to see how well they implement it before getting excited about it. Their claims that KoF 02/03 and MVC2 were backwards compatible were laughable considering how broken they ran on the 360...graphical errors, frame issues, 02 disc didn't even LOAD while 03 had disappearing sprites...it was bad.

I'll wait, and confirm after its in effect a good while before even counting this as a feature after the last gen issues.

Settle down. Read up on how the BC works on X1. It's the same as running straight off the 360. That was not the case from Xbox > 360.

I think remasters and BC can coexist nicely. I mean BC is more for the cheapskates like myself who don't care about an up rez port. And then you have those folks who live and die by 1080p who will definitely buy up all the remasters.

I agree, and I think that having the option is a great thing! Being able to play the games we already own I don't think will stop people who want a higher res'd version that runs at a faster refresh rate from buying a remaster.
