I've seen a few negative comments on Facebook and elsewhere about how companies are rainbowing their brands for the sake of publicity.

I see where these comments are coming from - some of these companies probably don't care about the issue and are just capitalizing on "being part of history" - but it also shows that these companies are willing to visibly alienate bigots like this. I was very amused by the Facebook comments on some news story where they showed an image of the american flag but with rainbow colors. Because there were a bunch of people saying stuff like "I don't mind same sex marriage, but don't you dare and touch our flag!" "Leave our flag out of this" "Don't bastardize our flag!!"

Yeah, there's been a lot of this going around. The Guild Wars 2 account posted this amazing picture of two male characters having an in-game wedding and there was a bunch of people saying they were never going to play the game again... but some how missed the game's many obvious gay characters and relationships (including one that developed over last year's storyline and ended with an "on screen kiss" to boot) and the recent addition of a transgender NPCs. Poor schmucks can't even cancel their subscriptions in protest.
