People are stupid. They think that next is child molestation, then bestiality, then necrophilia. The funny thing is i think that the religious people fighting marriage equality are going to be the ones to try and make an effort to make pedophilia/bestiality/necrophilia legal.

No, their argument is only valid if progressives do it.
Because they are hateful bigots who believe all gay people are also child rapists and or animal rapists, and in fact see people in same-sex relationships as being on a par with people who rape children or animals.
This is the level of sheer hatred and stupidity that is being exposed and fought against.

Their argument isnt valid because none of their slippery slope fears are between consenting adults.
These people fail to realize that gay marriage is new, yet child molestation has been around for a loooooooooooooooooooooong time.
So, their argument has no validation in the first place. They're just being dumb.
No, there are no credible studies that show a connection between homosexuality and child molestation rates. However, there is evidence that shows that most child molesters aren't even pedophiles. They are just rapists who rape an easily manipulated and vulnerable target.

They don't care about logic, otherwise they wouldn't be against this. My facebook "friend" refuses to see the parallels of his reasoning against gay marriage with slavery, segregation, and interracial marriage. (As in using Bible verses as evidence to be against it.) It's somehow different but he can't explain why it is.

I would like to think that is true, however, I know many people who are against this and are passing this down to their children and feel like it won't go away in my lifetime. I'd like to see it.

It's sad that I have close family members that are really upset about this. Hell I can't even support it on Facebook because the owner of my company is active on there and "vocally opposed".
I grew up a fundamentalist christian and while I didnt have these views I heard them a lot. To these people anything outside of penis inside a vagina, and oral sex (between a man and woman of course) for the progressive ones is a sexual perversion. They believe that gays, pedophiles, rapists, etc are all people who did not guard their thoughts against the devil and now have fully succumbed to sexual perversions. They believe that pedophilia and bestiality are next because they believe they suffer from the same affliction.
My sister is very religious and right wing-I see the thing with her and her friends today is posting their profile photos of their children but it has a transparent American flag over it-As opposed to the rainbow flag.

Linking homosexuality to pedophilia even just from the slippery slope angle is a VERY old trick. Anything they can use to make us look evil, immoral, lesser or unclean has been used over and over. I'm still reminded of the ridiculous myth about how AIDS started because someone fucked a monkey, I mean really - this is exactly the same kind of slur. You still see disgusting jokes about anal sex, as if straight people don't have anal sex not to mention not all gay men even have penetrative sex. Furthermore what that says they think about women that they make fun of men "lowering" themselves to be the penetrated partner during sex. But of course ignorance is the main advantage when creating a boogey man.

Although keep in mind that even restricted people can see/like/comment your profile picture changes. They won't see your regular status updates, but they'll still see an update if add a rainbow flag to your Facebook picture.
