Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

I was under the impression that they lasted through a few uses. It's why they turn from green to red (icons on the map) as people use them.

The colors mainly just indicate whose team they belong to. If you ever saw someone use one and that one stay there it's most likely them placing a beakon again immediately after landing

Just reached lvl 9, and have my eyes on the blaster weapon. Seems to be the closest thing to a shotgun, which is my jam. Is this the only one, or are there blaster varients later too?
I would say it's closer to a grenade launcher with a specific range. It's a fun gun to use once you've learn how to use it to its full potential (hitting people around corner and under/over ledges, etc.).

Yeah this is why I'm still kind of wary about joining gaf rooms because even when I'm getting good points with a positive K/D it often feels like I'm still the worst player in the room and I'm not sure exactly how much I'm contributing. Constantly running into DaBoss during matches yesterday and getting killed by the inkbrush in ways I didn't think was possible probably doesn't help lol
I don't know how other gaf members feel, but usually I go in there for fun. It doesn't matter to me who's doing good or bad as long as everyone is having fun. It's also a great place to learn how to use a weapon with aggressive players.

You go GAF or you go home lol

Seriously though.... SplatGAF rooms are the proving ground to see how good you really are. I don't even bother with turf wars with randoms. It's a waste of time. It's either ranked mode or turf war GAF room.

I'm only level six, is there a guide someplace about what weapons are best at each unlock level?

I'm sticking to roller now since I seem to do Ok with it currently, but its clear its outmatched against the level 20s.

There really isn't a best weapon in the game. A good roller is fucking dangerous.

At your level, I'd personally sport Splattershots considering you're in Turf War, but rollers can perform just as well in that mode.

Thanks for the info,

I just got enough funds to purchase a few items and I'm seeing how they adjust gameplay, its fascinating.

I havent really tried a PvP first person shooter since I lost far too many hours to TF2 when the Orange Box came out on the X360.

Splatoon's gyro controls have truly spoiled me.

I tried to play Warframe over weekend because of all the hype. I decided to use my 360 controller instead of kb/m. The game is pretty good but I missed the gyro controls. Having gyro is like having an air mouse. Fuck using the right stick for all aiming. It's too slow and clunky.

No lies here. SplatGAF is to Splatoon what KartGAF is to Mario kart. It's a hyperbolic time chamber where Squid kids go in and tactical war veterans come out.

I still play ranked from time to time, mostly to get some cash. Just had an hour long session and made about 46,000 which is nice.

If I lose a few games, I just go back to 99 rank points and then stop my Ranked session lol.

Alright, 60" TV is available. Let's see how this plays. Going Nozzlenose. =D

I sometimes get the delayed splat icon on my end vs you. There's also been times where it was instant.

Edit: Oh wow, I can read names and text again. =D I started launch week and the week after with the 42", but had to switch. The 60" looks nice.

Edit 2: I realize I originally said the other TV was 47", but it's actually 42". The 47" got replaced by the 60" because the inverter died and I was too lazy to fix it. Costco warranty FTW.

I don't even know if those are still cheap. Besides, the 36" is best left in there for now.

Please don't subject yourself to the CRT again, haha. HD games must be played on an HDTV. Leave your CRT for sub-HD consoles (where it's preferable to use a CRT).\

Neither

How about sprite

Sprite is a Coke product =P

The correct answer is Pepsi, BTW

Played some rank today, starting at B 70. After one and a half hours of hard work, end up at B 71. :
At this point I'd consider that a net positive considering you had some wins in there and got some cash too. It took me about the same amount of time to slide from B+ 40 to B- 70 with little else to show for it.

The partial credit/extra credit system for ranked is bullshit

If you lose 12, that means you will go down one rank one game quicker, since you keep your rank at 0 (you have to go below 0 to drop rank). If you gain 12, you're not getting to the next rank any faster, as once you hit 100 you rank up anyway, so the extra 2 is useless.

If you lose 8, it hurts no less than losing 10. If you gain 8, it's useless rank as you're not going to bump up at 98.

and THIS is why getting TWO weapons changing them on the fly, would be GREATLY beneficial

Eh, but you might run into problems where everyone plays too similar classes. For example, everyone would spam snipers when playing Arowana Mall (and this could result in boring games). Instead, being locked to a certain loadout adds a bit more risk/reward and diversity to the mix.

first of all even if that happens in ranked matches, it does take a lot of skill to win on a match where everyone is a sniper. The only BORING thing I see, is being forced to play the EXACT same level for over 5 times in a row.

They also missed a HUGE opportunity to go ratchet and clank with the weapons. Give them levels, give exp bonuses for using them in levels that are not favorable, unlock stronger versions AS YOU USE THEM.

Too many weird choices made by people who do not understand how online competitive games work.

Bolded part don't sound competitive O.o

I thought I posted this earlier but my post did not go through.

I have a theory that the hidden rank system also affects Ranked mode.

When I first got to A-, I did okay then dropped back to B. I got back to A- and was on a roll and a few points shy of A before plummeting back to low C+. I switched for good from .52 Gal to Luna Blaster to vary my playstyle, improved considerably and got a good streak over the weekend. I went from C+ to A for the first time. I wrecked entire teams at the B+ to A+ range.

At A- and A, the skill ceiling seemed no higher and my win rate remained quite high, until my last couple of hours playing. All of a sudden the lobbies were full of very strong A-, A and A+ players. I went from looking exceptional to average among the pack, occasionally squeezing out best K/D in a match but nothing to brag about. A lot of deaths. More losses than wins. I slipped back to A- and it feels like I'm slowly dropping again. The rooms are brutal on both sides. I didn't suddenly start playing worse. All the matches got tougher.

So my theory. The game makes it easy for anyone of decent, competent skill to rise to high B and A level. If you're okay/average in terms of K/D and whatever other variables affect the hidden rank, you will encounter similar average opponents even at the A level. If you improve, regularly come out on top with impressive K/D, maintain a long streak... the game puts you against powerful B and A rankers to humble you.

To further support this, I have seen the odd A player show up in low B rooms and he was nothing special, sometimes bad in fact. I suspect these are players in decline getting set up by the hidden matchmaking with players that have similar hidden rank. Maybe I'm off with all of this, but something that seems more than coincidence is going on.

I figured Ninja Squid would get nerfed. It was too good. You're straight invisible and you barely lose any speed. Wonder what they'll do to bring it back to reality.

I wasted 6 rerolls on my Squidforce ninja squid shirt and didn't even get 2 damage ups subs (I have a Squidforce special charge shirt with 3 damage ups)

I say nerf Ninja Squid to oblivion, one less thing to worry about as a charger

Spike is a fraud
I have the ninja squid shirt with 2 damage up never use it since it doesn't help my guns

This will hurt my mobility as a sniper. :/

Btw you can order off my clithes, I have 2 power up and Def for squid shirt.

iirc you don't get the subs (or maybe only the first sub) when you order gear from someone else. Otherwise everyone would be running around with a perfect set

Well I had quite a day went from A+56 to A10 than back to A80. The amount of times in the last 6 hours where my team is not understanding the point of the game is astronomical.

Lose games 18-6, 13-5, 4-2, 11-8, 11-3, 10-5, 13-4 - only way to reliably carry a team is with a Krak-On for me. I can get decent results with Custom Blaster but no chance I'm carrying a game with that weapon. Anyways at least I prepared a lot of different loadouts just in-case Kraken and Ninja Squid are completely ruined tomorrow.

It's a small chance of getting the subs. I just recently ordered your shoes and got the second power up from them. You can order mine and if there's no subs or not the right subs, you can choose not to buy it.

There's a chance to get exact the same gear, depends on how many stars and how many same ability the gear has. IIRC the chance to get a 3 star gear with triple same ability is 0.5%.

There's a random chance of Spike getting a shirt with all the sub abilities. You can just order his shirt every day until Spike gets it right.

Does it only work with 3 star gear? I guess that makes sense.

well I'll be damned, time to start ordering top tier gear and stop wasting my money on rerolls. Thanks for clearing this up for me

if anyone wants my Special Charge Up (main) 3 Damage Up (sub) shirt, just ask me

Couldn't believe the difference between my old 28" CRT and my 37" LCD telly when I bought it years and years ago. And last Summer I upgraded from my 37" telly to a whopperdongler 50" one. It's like having a cinema in my front room lololol

Just played a Ranked match where my team snatched victory from defeat in the last second...about bloody time, it'susually the other way around lol

I had one item that has triple sub and it's the most useless ability in Ranked - faster respawn. If you are dying there constantly a few extra seconds aren't going to change anything

Hopefully just cut the swimming speed deeper, which would still allow someone to choose to counter the effect with other gear, at the expense of using those slots to boost something else.
