Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

So. Uh. What's an easy way to make money...

I'm hurting in these streets... Hurting.

go dominate some ranked matches

Anyone who wears the gas mask has no self respect.

Or fashion sense for that matter.

Upgrade the black arrowbands instead. They look much better.

A lot of the 3-star gear is boring or dumb-looking. It gives that extra incentive to upgrade all of the nicer 1 and 2 star gear.

Is Ranked really that good for cash? I guess I should try it out more.

4000+ at higher levels if I remember correctly.

Once you get to the B ranks you can win like 3000 for winning and at A+ I think you can get 4100 if I remember correctly, at your rank it should be at least 2400 so even if you win 50% of your matches it should still provide you with good money. Plus I know from playing with you that you can make it into the B ranks pretty easily

You get a base reward for winning, and +500 for a knockout. Base rewards vary per rank. I'm in A and I believe I get 3300 for a win and 3800 with a knockout. You get nothing for a loss, but as long as you have a win rate of 50%+ you'll mostly likely be earning more than you would in turf wars, regardless of your rank.

Lag roll too strong, can't deal with an Inkbrush lol.
Since we're talking about ordering gear, how exactly do we get friends to show up in our hub world? Daboss, I want your gas mask!
You have to play with them while they are wearing that specific gear. Then leave the lobby and go to the plaza. You'll see the people you played with most recently near the tower.
Damn Daboss... that's a lot of points you got there.
That's what the Inkbrush is made for. Gotta get that cash in Kelp Dome.

I was doing it wrong this whole time, holy shit. Thanks, guys.

Unless there's a map like Kelp on Turf, Ranked will generally have a better windfall as long as you're at least 50/50. It helps that a quick Knockout is way shorter than a Turf Wars match, which has to go the set time.

Do you have any echolocator weapon? Zapper, Gal .96, for example? Having a way to tell were the enemy is helps most teams wake up, even at C-.

The Gal deco, Gal .96, zapper, chargers and dynamo roller have been the flavour of the month for a while, they are easy to pick up and fit splat zone's playstyle.

This was my first shooter and I suffered from what I call Deer in Headlights paralysis. My main tactic was hide with ninja squid and surprise kill with the .52 Gal. If I failed and it became a shootout, I couldn't get my brain to figure out how to strafe in one direction, shoot in another and evasive jump at the same time. I either froze on the spot or ran forward like suicidal infantry. I would also grip the right stick so hard that I would trigger the Inkstrike at the absolute worst times and get myself killed.

My only solution, discovered by accident, was playing with the blasters after feeling like the .52 was too convenient and letting me languish with bad habits. Very short range and too slow for me to pop out from ink at a bad range and charge forward like a brainless dummy. It forced me to move around a lot, hide in walls, using ink for evading mid-shootout and taking angles, dive for mid-air kills, get in people's faces, hop with purpose, etc. The small burst also helps with my crappy unsteady hands.

I don't use that one, seems like a weird hybrid gun that would get you killed before you got the job done. Too low power for a slowish, short range weapon. Luna all the way and occasional dabbling with the Blaster. They're similar enough for anyone who wants to use a blaster type.

I don't know what weapon your using, but I used the splattershot jr. with the bubbler which helped me get out of a lot of situations, I say use something with the bubbler or possibly echolocater. Those seem like the best specials for ranked to me. Also play on maps that you like and usually do well in, for example a lot of people in this thread don't play ranked when arowana mall is in the rotation because they don't like it, it's one of my personal favorites so I don't mind playing it. If port mackerel was in the rotation I would always play ranked though as I usually won on this map. I haven't really played ranked that much since I've gotten to A+ with 99 points, but I do defend my rank like once or twice a week. Also since your still a low ranked don't be afraid to practice with different weapons until you find what works best for you.

you destroy me with the rapid blaster, seriously
Imo I got lucky. If I had to approach my target, I don't think I would have taken anyone down. Most of the success I had with the weapon was due to having a lot of room to work with and waited for them to come into my range. I want to believe this weapon is good but I can't see how, at least not yet.

Zekko, the one with a high chance of Special Saver. Just cursing my luck that I couldn't get a roll with even 1 decent ability since I'm stuck with worse gear now than when I started.

There are brands with higher chances of certain sub powers? Any wikis or similar that list them?

And any good gear that has ink resistance and more than one sub? Currently stuck on the green ones because of that.

Thanks for the tips, everyone. I've been trying to use the Blaster as I really like its style but I'm not making much use of the sub-weapon and spacial. Maybe I should switch to the Aerospray RG like everyone else ( ._.)

Red High Tops are probably the best shoes in the game for Ink Resistance, they have a high chance of getting swim speed up. Neon Sea Slugs have a high chance of ink recovery up but they start as 1 slot you'd have to pay a lot to get them up to scratch.

I'm making 3800 per knockout in A-.

Inkzooka's good in turf but absolutely monstrous in ranked. I'm getting multi-kills regularly with everyone bunched up together. It's a nice substitue for ranged weaponry (since I can't aim for shit) in Arowana, just picking off snipers.

Japan miiverse is something else.

Do they make everyone to learn how to draw or something over there.

Man I'm so jealous of them, splatoon would look so crazy with real art everywhere.

Instead we get "where is splatfest??" Scrawled on walls in children's handwriting

I can draw but idk why the gamepad is a terrible surface for me. I wish I could make the canvas full screen because I can't do anything in that little rectangle

Firefin: Ink Saver (Sub)
Forge: Special Duration Up
Inkline: Defense Up
Krak-On: Swim Speed Up
Rockenburg: Run Speed Up
Skalop: Quick Respawn
Splash Mob: Ink Saver (Main)
SquidForce: Damage Up
Takoroka: Special Charge Up
Tentatek: Ink Recovery Up
Zekko: Special Saver
Zink: Quick Super Jump

This was posted here a while ago. Also, yes, Rockenberg has some ugly 3* boots with ink resistance and there are some nice red ones with 2 slots, forgot the brand.

In my opinion the aerospray is a terrible weapon for ranked, yeah it's great at turf wars for getting high point values as it can ink the floor pretty well, but ranked is more about fighting and the aerospray loses pretty much every one on one direct battle. If your seeing people using it a C- rank than that's probably the reason they are still there, I don't think you should follow what they are doing. In the higher ranks I can guarantee that it is extremely rare to find an aerospray user.

Please don't subject yourself to the CRT again, haha. HD games must be played on an HDTV. Leave your CRT for sub-HD consoles (where it's preferable to use a CRT).

Would you believe me if I said I've been using CRTs as a primary screen until I got my first HDTV in 2013? =P

After posting that post it occurred to me that yeah the Aerospray is purely for turf war. Maybe I should go with the roller/zapper. They're easy enough to use.

Agreed inkzooka is great

I managed to get to B- with the aerospray but you make a good point - it's less about painting and more about holding ground. But I don't want to experiment with other weapons in ranked mode in case I drop down. So I suppose I have to sacrifice performance in turf war to try them out. I don't really get on with chargers so maybe carbon/Dynamo roller would be good? Any suggestions for good ranked setups?

you can probably just use the .96 Gal in ranked on every rotation and you'll be fine

Finally got this yesterday and I'm having a lot of fun with it so far. I'm currently level 7 or 8 and have been using the roller almost exclusively. How does it rank in comparison to other weapons? Any tips or things I should know?
