Google Play Music All Access

The fact that haven't added a feature to detect duplicates in a playlist by now is nonsense. When I started using Spotify and made a new playlist with a song that was already included, I was like, "Oh yes! Yes yes yes!" I mean, it's really that simple and yet, after all these versions of GPM there's no solution for it.

When I try to add a song that's already on a playlist, a confirmation dialog pops up.

I (genuinely) don't see what it offers that Google Music does not for an Android user.
I haven't looked into it too much but does Apple's family pricing give it an advantage? Right now, I share Play Music All Access with my wife and have her account logged in to my phone, but that gives me lots of annoyances like having her Hangouts and Google+ log in periodically and accidentally, or having to select an account every time I want to share something in Hangouts.

I hate this. I hate this a lot. I wish I could decouple the account from certain apps rather than having it touch everything Google related for every account. I'd have to think the family plan and pricing for Apple Music is a big advantage over what Google offers now.

I got excited for a second. Went to a playlist, selected the overflow menu for a song, added the song to the same playlist I'm currently in. "1 song added to playlist."

You're saying Google Play Music is warning you that the song is already on the playlist and asks you to confirm if you want a duplicate?

Did some testing. The web interface does it, but the app doesn't. Weird.

Omfg this phone app is an infuriating piece of shit now. Once its playing its fine but god forbid you switch songs too many times or try to start/stop it when its off in neverland. Killing the app works sometimes but not always and I've blown the cache out more times than I care to count. Cone on Google fix this hunk of shit that I'm paying you to use...ffs.

Ya this really pisses me off when I'm listening to songs in my car on the iPhone. Also, sometimes the iPhone just starts playing my music that's stored locally on the iPhone while using the Play Music app, but I don't know if that's an issue with the iPhone or the app.

Just realized that I'm losing money on this app since I don't listen to a $10 worth of new music every month. I want to cancel but then I know they will remove my library before I have the chance the buy all the songs I like and I don't feel like writing down the names. I want the Zune Pass to come back.

That's the iPhone. If your player isn't running or maybe it's suspended by the iPhone due to resources it seems to play whatever's in your phone. For me it's always that stupid U2 album.

When you sub again you get your library and playlists back.

Wow you had to convince them? :/

Yeah. When I re-subbed, I wasn't given the discount. It might have been a glitch. I'd call em up to double check. Surprisingly, Google has some kickass customer service. I called about my Chromebook and even after fixing my problem, the girl and I just talked about phones afterwards. It was surreal.

Should have asked her out m8

When I go to playlist, auto playlist, last added on my phone it's never the last songs I added not even close. It works on computer fine but never on my phone. I also have had to reset my phone (nexus 5) because the music wont play but every other app is working fine. I keep leaning closer and closer to getting rid of the service.

Can you guys see if you can play Radiohead's In Rainbows on All Access, without owning the album? For some reason I only see the song Videotape as available. I don't know if it's a glitch or what.

I've been using Google Play for a long time, but I've always used it on Android devices. I plan switching over to a iOS device later in the year. How's the Google Play experience on iPhones?

It's quite good. I never have an issue when I switch to my iPhone. App looks and works great, as do their other apps.

So, the new Google Music. Did they remove the ability to explore sub-genres? Can't seem to find the option anymore.

Android/web versions.

Trying out the free radio feature now, and they seems pretty good. It doesn't work for songs they don't have data for (such as songs from very small artists or minor releases from somewhat larger ones), but I guess that's not too surprising.

No for the android app yet. Hopefully that's coming soon.

Maybe I'm being dense, but it appears that playlists no longer exist? Just replaced by stations?

Yeah I can't find them either, but the implementation was always shit for me. Biggest thing they can improve on for me.

I'm an All Access member and it's under My Library, the tab before Stations.

If you're not, then I don't believe Playlists are available under the free option.

Same here, but that's just playlists that you've already subscribed to or your personal ones. A list of the playlists available for subscription doesn't seem to exist any longer.

You can still search for public playlists. When you do a search, playlists are in the list that match what you searched for. I don't think there is a dedicated area for them anymore though.

The $9.99 caught my eye. Went to join up. I'm in the UK, so that's gotta be about five or six quid yeah?

...£9.99? No thanks.

I hate that they ditched the subgenres. I'd check new releases periodically but that's all gone now. Oh well...I finally got it running somewhat better by changing my cache to the phone and disabling any song caching at all. The thing would go off in neverland and need to be closed before it started working again. Still flaky as hell but better.

Tried out Apple Music in the hope I could maybe migrate from Google. Laggy UI, poor library selection and uploading/matching songs is a chore and doesn't work half the time.

Think I'll stick with a Google and Spotify (Student) sub.

Eh? Click on New Releases, then there's a drop down for new release subgenres.

I want to upload all my local music (about 22k songs) to this service, can I then download it again and move it to another service in the future?

Yeah, you can download your uploaded and purchased music in one go (or individually if you want).

And if I remember correctly, if it recognizes your local music and does not need to upload it, when you download you get nice clean high quality versions which may be better than your original files.

But I'm trying to clear space on my HD, so once it's done that process it's ok to delete all my local music?
