Is there still an equalizer? Just got my M8 and it's gone. Booooooo to Google.

Edit: never mind, found out it's an HTC quirk. Apparently they apply their own band set for their boom sound setup.

But I'm trying to clear space on my HD, so once it's done that process it's ok to delete all my local music?

Yes. Once all your files are either uploaded or recognized and added to your online library, there's no need for local files.

The only issue with deleting local is that if you listen you will always be streaming and using up data vs. playing local files.

Eh? Click on New Releases, then there's a drop down for new release subgenres.

Correct but there used to be a section that gave you a start on the genre beyond new releases like Featured. So if I picked Metal there was Subgenres, Featured, and New Releases. Then Thrash had Featured and New Releases. That's all gone now except for New Releases. My work phone isn't updated yet so its easy to look up.

Hmm. Yeah, when you go to New Releases, you can select the drop-down to choose between genre's but that's about it.

Yep. So I uploaded from my desktop as that is where I keep my music but I have my Thumbs Up playlist in Google Music set to download across my devices (phone and tablet) along with another playlist so that I can play offline and not stream so much.

That's what I do as well to minimize streaming in general (pin the playlist), but I never deleted the offline songs.

Yeah, this just got me to cancel my sub.

It made music discovery an absolute chore... being able to see what new comedy albums came out was nice.. or whatever new releases in a sub-genre.. and then explore from there.. I don't do the radio's.. so Google can go fuck themselves with this change.. they went all in with radio and destroyed music discovery the old way.

It's been a while since using a competing service.. I liked Beats.. but it's dead now right.. becoming Apple? I'm on android.. so Spotify or Pandora better for exploring sub-genres?

They said it's coming back.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but you have to select the genre to see sub-genre radio stations on Pandora. I didn't think Spotify had it. I very well could be wrong but if it works the same way, then you have to browse the radio station genre on GMusic to see sub-genres, or search for them.

Not sure if that's what they mean by that tweet though.

I just want explore back with genres and sub-genres. It's what I liked about the service.. could give 2 shits about the radios and top lists.. which is basically what it's all about.. now you have to know exactly what you want.. exploring is gone.

Does the new apple music do this? Spotify? Pandora.. I cancelled already, if they bring it back I might re-up.. but time to move on for now.

Figured out that you can edit album info even for the stuff your subbing, ie not just your uploads. Got a big chunk of my library correctly identified now. Hopefully they don't wipe this out, lot of work.

Is there a way to filter only the music you've downloaded through Google music? I'm trying to separate tracks I have previously from music I got from Google music.

For me, there's an "auto playlist" called Free and Purchased that has everything acquired from Google in it. This is the link to it for me; don't know if it will work for you as well: https://play.google.com/music/listen?u=0#/ap/auto-playlist-promo

I didn't know or realize until after I'd be using it for a few days that there are no audio ads for the free radio. There's no way I can go back to Pandora after this!

Anyone had an issue with songs just disappearing from playlists in the mobile app?

I go to the website and one of my playlists has 68 songs, but only 26 are showing up on my phone.

I've done the refresh thing and made sure it's not displaying downloaded music only, but nothing works.

You know I had it happen once and I thought it was maybe related to my subscription running out and then me restarting it. But the links I had worked so I know that still have the full playlists on there so maybe try going in on the web?

Never used this thing before but I like this new radio feature but how do I save them? I see buttons that say 'add to my library' but I can't seem to actually see my library or maybe I just can't find it. This is what I see: http://puu.sh/iZBer/457b15934a.jpg I don't want to see all that tuesday night shit, and the only way to actually see what I added is to look at my recently played down below.

Also, any way to mix all these stations together into one?

In the upper left corner there's the "hamburger" icon (the three horizontal stripes).

That's typically the Android symbol for menu. Click on that and you'll get a side menu with a bunch of options. You should see one that says "My Library" click on that and you'll be able to see all the songs from that you've put in your library.

As far as mixing stations together...hmmm that one's a little tough. One thing you can do is you can listen to a radio station (like some hip-hop station) and save it as a playlist. Then you can listen to the folk music radio station and select all those songs and add them to that other playlist. You can literally select songs with the shift button and then drag them over to a play list on the side menu. Now you'll have a playlist with a mixture of hip-hop and folk music. You can then start a station based off of this mixed playlist. I know it sounds like a lot of work for something like this. I never actually felt the need to do this, so there might be an easier way that I haven't seen.

Thanks, I would've never known those 3 bars meant anything at all without this post, I was already surprised that clicking the little 3 dots opened up a menu too. What's wrong with arrows or boxs instead? Edit: Oh wait those 3 bars are the same menu button as the menu button in Chrome, heh never really payed attention to it.

Eh, I can live without an eternal shuffle playlist, I just wish this google play desktop player extension worked without the site being open as well, kinda misses the whole point of the extension.

Is there a way around this particular annoyance? In a playlist, I might add a song to My Library, but then later decide I want to add the whole album to My Library. But on the album page, the only option is "Remove from My Library" even if I've only added one song from that album. Seems like the only way is to Remove the Album, which also seems to remove it from the current playlist, and then re-add it. I should just be able to add the remaining songs, shouldn't I?

Guys, I decided to give Google Music a try after being frustrated with iTunes for so long.

Now the problem is that Google Music doesn't actually upload all my songs.

I pointed the website to my iTunes folder. It uploaded songs all night yesterday but now it's been stuck at like 20 songs short of the total since yesterday. Even then, when I look at my library, I am about 100 songs short compared to my iTunes library... This is really fucking annoying.

I was expecting that maybe some of the older or weird stuff in my iTunes library wouldn't transfer but then I get weird shit like one specific song from a legit bought Iron Maiden album that doesn't upload (the rest of the album is there just fine)...

Aaarggghhhh

Yeah I found the manager after posting and it uploaded all my songs in like 20minutes which is great.

Now I deleted one of the songs by accident on my phone and it also disapeared from the website and I can't seem to find a way to re-upload it... The manager is still saying that everything is uploaded.

Just hit the sidebar on the Google Play Music site and click Upload Music and you can drag the file over.

so I've been trying Spotify now since I'm paying 5.99
the playlist is way better than google, when you go playlist top song it is actually the current trending songs not overall song like google does with 5 year old songs

I still don't want to cancel my google play just because of my uploaded music

I believe the streaming sub is separate from just you having your music in the cloud. So you should be able to cancel the sub and still play the music you own.

Hey guys I need help with the site... I'm not sure why but some of my songs uploaded are mixed up.

Basically I bought the Led Zeppelin Celebration Day live album in iTunes a while ago.

All those songs were uploaded with the rest of my collection to Google Music when I started using the service a couple of weeks ago. I see all the songs properly in my library on Google but some of the songs are completely mixed up.

For example when I try to play Black Dog I get No Quarter. When I try to listen to Good Times Bad Times I get Rock And Roll instead. Most of them are ok but some of them are mixed up like that.

I doubled checked (and even redownloaded) the songs in iTunes and all the files are fine... Somehow Google is mixing them up during the upload. Is there any way to fix that?

Has Lana Del Rey been dropped from the site or something in the UK? She shows up with some albums but the vast majority of the songs are gone. At least the ones I had in my playlists anyway. Beginning to notice this more and more.

Scratch that - seems to be back all of a sudden (sort of)... odd.

Wow lots of stuff added today. Of course I had to go into the New Releases->Rock area to find the Shinedown and Chris Cornell albums I wanted to add. A little surprised Shinedown wasn't popping up in my Recommendations or on the top New Releases page.

And of course Metric is buried in the New Releases->Alternative area.

Maybe I'm missing something, but why can't I click a button to follow a specific band so that when they release new stuff it automatically gets put into my stream?

Thanks for the heads up on Shinedown and Chris Cornell :)

Edit: Neither showing under the rock new releases here :( Had to add them manually. Annoying as if I hadn't seen this post, I wouldn't know they were released.

i think the Chris Cornell album was last week. or at least it popped up for me then.

Have they fixed the 1000 song limit for playlists? That fucked me over real bad when transferring from iTunes since I thought everything was backed up properly and then I deleted my iTunes with my Playlists thinking it was all saved on Google Music but nah, 1000 song limit, so a lot is missing

Anyone having problems with their Google Music All Access subscription not being detected? My Youtube Red is still up so I'm still subscribed, but can't use the Google Play Music outside of radio.
