Google Play Music All Access

Since when did the app start looping an album when it ends? It should stop and let me find something else to play. Another pointless addition.

The new layout is great. Gotta love that consistent UI over all devices.

Anyone having issues with the phone app itself being laggy? I have a s400 device with 1GB RAM so that might be a issue. Outside of GPM my phone runs pretty fine.

Payback for iTunes on Windows.

iTunes on Windows isn't that bad anymore. In fact I've been using it since 11 on Windows and never had a complaint (except for the lack of click wheel scrolling).

Another issue I have with Google Play Music: the design. I'm listening to Endtroducing... by DJ Shadow right now, and even in full screen on my 1080p monitor I can't see the full track list (16 songs) without having to scroll. Not on the main album view, not on the currently playing pop-up. So much empty space it hurts my brain. The same issue also affects my iPad and my iPhone.

That is where I am at. Multiple UIs seemed pointless to me. The new web interface doesn't have as much wasted space.

A more static and text heavy (adding, editing, creating, etc.) design over the ginormous moving pictures in my face. For my money, the web client is still lacking so many basic options to organize your library.

They took away the 5-star system for the songs as well. So if you spent a lot of time rating your songs in this manner, it's bye-bye. I understand it was a lab function, and it can go at any time, but it still stings.

I'm with you in this one.

I don't need to see the pictures of everything. I wish there was a static text heavy interface where you don't need to move from one page to the other. Where you could search for songs and manage the list or the song that is playing without moving to another completely different page.

Also, the client is getting slower and slower with every single update. It should be instantaneous.

And it still uses Flash because the HTML5 lab function is broken. Google is fucking evil. I don't know, this might be close to the last straw for me. God damn it.

As someone who has to fix other people's iTunes installations frequently I disagree. Still bad software with bad UI.

Since you accidentally pressed the button the the left of the 'Previous track' button, I presume.

I agree. I always have the page zoomed out at 75%. Looks great!

Can I shuffle my radio stations similar to how Pandora does it?

I like to mix up my genres, but not even Spotify allows it...

It's not great (not even on OS X - in fact it's bloated and slow compared to other native apps), but I can't find a better solution right now, so it suffices. However, Google Play Music on iOS (specially on my device, 4th gen iPad) is appalling, in a much higher degree than iTunes on Windows.

Oh, I've got the new UI now. Really not that different from the old one, I like it, makes it feel more uniform across platforms. Only complaint would be that the artists are in circles now. The circles waste so much space in-between artists, and cut out the majority of the picture. Probably my only complaint. Not sure why they made the change either, considering everything else that was formerly in a "panel" still remains in a panel in the new UI — just not the artists.

What a complete mess. Everything is massive, the artist circles are annoying as hell, and it just feels all incredibly slow.

I can understand wanting uniformity, but if I want a mobile experience, I'll use my phone!

Its pretty much the same as the mobile client. Its really overdue. Tey have been running inconsistent UI's across those platforms for to long. Now if you know how to use the mobile client you also know how to use the web client. No learning two different UI's for no reason.

Its also more readable by far. I think the font is darker.

Only problem I see is the circles for the artists is inconsistent with the rest of the UI. They use cards for everything. Then circles out of nowhere. That doesnt make sense.

I don't mind the change but I would rather have the rectangle artist pictures over the square ones. I wish they would allow me to add custom artist art though, I'm sick of having the wrong shit or just nothing at all on some of my more obscure stuff.

Second time in 3 days the Android app has deleted all of my downloaded music.

Fuck this.

Think that happened to me too. I have mine set to cache what it plays because of all the LTE work Sprint is doing in my area. Signal went to shit and had like 6 songs :(

Just happened again. Plenty of space left on my sd card but everything deleted.

I've got my app set to download and stream via wifi only and haven't had an issue up until a few months ago.

Switching to spotify.

Odd, I've never had this issue at all and I have 3 devices (Galaxy Note 8.0, Galaxy Note 10.1, Droid Razr MAXX HD), all with SD cards and set to use SD card storage wherever available (Beyond Pod, Coursera, Udemy, Google Music, Spotify) .You sure it's not a faulty SD card?

Anybody having issues with the phone app not getting a data connection? It pulls some album info down and then nothing. I just upgraded my S4 to lollipop like two weeks ago and ever since this app has been shit.

I occasionally get that, where the album info loads but no songs show up. I usually close the app completely and restart it and that fixes the problem.

So are you guys swayed by Apple Music? It seems to also have the defining feature of Google Music (the anility to upload and integrate your own songs).

Not really because I'm all-in the Google ecosystem. However, if I have an iPhone, I probably would. I'm expecting it to be tightly woven into Siri where not having it will almost seem like you gimped the phone.

I'd have no problem trying it out, but if it doesn't support Chromecast, then there is no way I could use it.

Not to mention I'm locked into the $7.99 deal and it would take a lot for me to give that up.

Nope. While I hate the Google Music material design, the only way I would have switched was if they offered the entire iTunes library.

Isn't that what they're doing?

I have so many issues with GPM that I'm surprised I've stuck around this long to be honest. Everything from feature disparity to poor design to poor functionality to a multitude of playback errors that I've never experienced while using Spotify.
I guess it's the ability to integrate my own music that is a huge pull for me because there's a lot I listen to that don't exist on these platforms. And the fact that I'm on the day 1 deal helps.

Either way, I might take them up on the 3 month free trial and see what it's like. Very surprised they're actually supporting Android.

So I've been using the free version of Google Music for awhile now, and I have most of my library uploaded. My issues is that it's not identifying things correctly, even after I edit it.

Like, I want all of my Wu Tang stuff just under Wu Tang. Instead I have 45 different artist for each song on a wu tang album. I've manually edited the Artist and Album Artist, but nothing changes.

Is there a way to fix this? When I had iTunes Match a few years ago, my changes would stick.

Since i own not a single IOS/MacOS device, gotta say nope. I have my own albums ripped and uploaded, plus i only pay 8€ from the test-month-promotion in the beginning.
Can't say that i feel like missing some albums/artists ... i can even listen to some rather small/unkown bands like Smith Street Band and Teenage Bottlerocket (before anyone kills me, they are rather unkown here in germany!)

And if i want to socially stalk some artists, i could use Twitter, although i have no account. :)

Uhm, open up the web-interface of the service, the tracks of an album have the option "Correct false match" or something like that (in german it's "Falsche Übereinstimmung korrigieren"). Try to edit the tracks again and hit that option afterwards.
I hope that helps ... i had the problem with some albums that have a censored and uncensored version, that option helped.

You'd need to manually edit the tags yourself. I hate when I have songs with someone featured that gets placed as a separate artist. I usually just rename that track the main artist and put featured either in the song title or track comments. I redid my whole library using TagScanner because of that. While I was at it, I also made custom artwork for all of my albums.

It was also because of how I've collected music over the years; whether it was bought from an online store or ripped and auto-tagged via ancient CD-ripping software, the meta-deta would be inconsistently formatted. Now I manually edit all my songs even after purchase just to maintain the format.

But don't most programs do this same thing if the meat-data is not formatted the same? I had the same problem happen on my uploaded music for iTunes Cloud.

This. Neither Apple Music nor Spotify have convinced me to give-up my $7.99 deal.

No. I have an iPhone and I'm not interested. If they'd brought out the service two years ago when I got this, sure. But I'm locked in at $7.99, my library is uploaded, and I see no differentiating factors that would get me to switch. If anything, it's likely going to be a couple years behind Google Music and Spotify in features.

Of course I will switch to Apple Music, who doesn't want those 3 free months? Right now I'm on Spotify, I keep switching between difference services as long as there is a special discount going on (I'm paying the equivalent of 0,30 cents of a dollar for a period of three months of Spotify right now).

I pretty much only care about rap music and of those services have the catalog that I care, so whatever. I'm a price whore and I don't give a fuck.

The only thing I want from that Apple is the live Radio

Google really need to do something with this playlist

Yeah, the playlists is the main thing I want Google Music to improve on. Spotify is killing them in that category and if I want to listen to playlists, I generally go to that.

Has anyone else had this stupid bug with the android app where when you go to load it up, the queue doesn't load? Then I can't click play on anything. Well, I can click it, but it doesn't nothing.

The only way I've found to fix is to go to app settings, force close, and then reopen. Then I can click on music and it'll start playing again. Super annoying, I've submitted multiple feedbacks.

Yes, it happened pretty much everyday when I used. Such a hassle.

The fact that haven't added a feature to detect duplicates in a playlist by now is nonsense. When I started using Spotify and made a new playlist with a song that was already included, I was like, "Oh yes! Yes yes yes!" I mean, it's really that simple and yet, after all these versions of GPM there's no solution for it.
