soul calibur died for tekken's sins
Seems like all the stuff they tried with V backfired, which is too bad, 'cause I really like that game.soul calibur died for tekken's sins
If you were to extrapolate numbers from regional events, it probably would have gotten the same number of players P4AU did.I wonder what kind of numbers UNIEL might have gotten.
I thought the entrants for T6 at Evo 2010 was around 300, not 600. It was the second biggest game regardless, as the only big fighting game at the time was SSF4 and the next biggest game at Evo that year was... Melty Blood.Apparently over 600 and was the biggest game after SFIV in 2010 based on what's being said in TTT2 OT.
The way I'm looking at Tekken 7 numbers is that if a MvC4 or SFV had been announced as an EVO tournament before actual console release and some people had the first chance to play it, I can only imagine how many would have entered just to try the game out.
Tekken is just no longer as popular as it used to be, which really sucks because it's the only 3D fighter being represented anyway.

I also think there's a very real issue of self-selection going on here. Yeah, a promotional SF5 tournament would get a stupid number of entrants -- but there are also a lot of SF fans already in the building. I don't think you would have a lot of Tekken fans naturally at Evo unless the game was there normally, and I doubt very many people are going to take on significant personal expenses to enter a tournament for a game they have never played. So the only people who would go are Tekken fans that are either relatively close by or that play other fighting games. I think if you had a prerelease tournament at an event like Final Round, you would have a large proportion of the TTT2 players entering.

Whatever happened to that F2P version?
EVO lineup gives a boost to tourney entrants at other events. If UNIEL is pulling P4AU numbers without EVO, it would be higher than P4AU at EVO most likely.
Too bad FB doesn't have the ASW/Atlus money backing it.
This is like SCV and KOF13. Similar numbers but KOF was given 3 years as an evo game. Soul Calibur only one.
Definitely not, unfortunately.Hm. I wonder if they use the Keits format
As for Tekken 7, I think it will sell less than TTT2 did.

You could say that KOF is the only SNK representation at EVO where as Namco at least has the option of either Tekken or SC.This is like SCV and KOF13. Similar numbers but KOF was given 3 years as an evo game. Soul Calibur only one.
2012 was one hell of a year(SCV, Skullgirls, SFXTK, VF5FS, Blazblue, DoA5, P4A all in the same year).

Though we all know it's because of hype top 8s get viewers and thus EVO inclusion.
Some brackets are up...just seems to be SF and Marvel so far.

Any brackets you may have found are for beta/internal testing right now. I wouldnt take them seriously.
KOF13 top 8 was disappointing, not because of the matches, they were pretty good with Tokido making Xiaohai work for his win, but I have never seen commentators give less of a damn when their game has some of the most exposure it's ever going to get at its point in life. I know Hellpockets was banned off commentary because he said a curse year the year before but at least he puts in a lot of enthusiasm besides, "yea, okay, he got a hit" when both players were vying for hits with stocked resources.
I am saying KOF was in last year because it had hype GFs the two years before. Any other game would not have been at EVO because the numbers weren't there for the game at various events.KOF13 top 8 was disappointing, not because of the matches, they were pretty good with Tokido making Xiaohai work for his win, but I have never seen commentators give less of a damn when their game has some of the most exposure it's ever going to get at its point in life. Also I am shocked (but not that shocked) to see that Tokido has only entered 1 game at EVO...
Ah I see. Yeah that's probably it most likely.based off the amazon brackets? i entered usf4 and xrd but my xrd pools dont show up so his other ones arent probably showing up either
If Harada isn't bluffing, Tekken 7 is also apparently making Namco more money in the arcades than any previous Tekken title before it.
I read that T7 is also more expensive per play, so that would makes sense...
Don't they also have a revenge match feature in it now as well where you pay more (double?) to play against the same person you just played?
Or was that in previous Tekken's as well?

Capcom Pro Talk with K-Brad was great.
K-Brad saying in Marvel the best feeling is getting that first hit. After you get hit, you deserve to die.
No, that's new. And yes, T7 is more expansive than TTT2
Countblack gonna give Yipes' woman some work
That's great to hear. Those Evo numbers seem really low to me. I would have entered at Evo just to try it out.If Harada isn't bluffing, Tekken 7 is also apparently making Namco more money in the arcades than any previous Tekken title before it.
Just play Claw, it's his weakness Kappamy first match is against super santarou man
I feel like it isn't too hard to make a schedule that pleases everyoneI'll wait for tonight to actually look at these brackets. That's when they are supposed to go "live". It's ridiculous the numbers for some of this games.
Can't wait to see what the Sunday schedule looks like + salt.

Wow, that's really scummy.
There's no requirement to use it but it's a psychological play all the game. It's both brilliant and insidious. Not really? You don't have to use the feature and it's only probably 200 yen to get the salty runback instead of just putting in 100 and hoping you get matched again.
It's been over a decade since this happened and reading about it still pisses me off. What a clownshow that was.Soul Caliber 2 grand finals COLLUSION?
