Fighting Games Weekly | June 29 - Jul 5 | Frauds Among U.S.

Namco is trying a bunch of different monetizing schemes for T7.

Like accessing the training mode for 5 minutes requires paying up.

As far as Revenge Match, there's a special option that lets you not get your rank demoted but you have to pay double. If you don't care about your rank, then I guess you don't have to pay the premium price.
Do you have to pay extra for the training mode? It's a pretty standard feature in arcade games nowadays for one credit -- hell, Namco had it in the arcade version of Soul Calibur 2 over a decade ago. I guess it would be new for Tekken, though.

I also wonder how much the online functionality helps with revenue, especially with smaller arcades. Knowing that you can dip into a random arcade and be nearly guaranteed to have competition has to be a huge plus.

At EVO2011, during Saturday night, LI Joe walked into the EVO venue with nothing but a towel on. He spent around 20 minutes on the EVO floor until he was noticed by a member of the staff who escorted him out.

Those EVO numbers are fucking insane.

Crossposting somewhat from the Smash thread, but I managed to get people SUPER salty last night at a local tournament with Custom Villager. One guy even went and started ranting and raving after he lost talking about how Customs are part of the future, and he didn't want that future. Then he ended with threatening to kick Sakurai's ass.

It was glorious! imm0rt4l would've been proud with how mad this dude was.

Chillager with that good stuff. :lol

Whoa, those T7 shirts look sweet. And 30k to the pot? Nuts.

Namco said they would announce something "big" next Tuesday, and tbh I can't think of another "big" T7-related news that's not the console release. A 2016 console release, but still

An updated arcade version is possible too. T7DR or whatever.

What customs do you run?

7-7-17

also, wasn't there a shirt last year. Black with one of the women characters (Auka or Jun maybe) on it?

If Harada isn't bluffing, Tekken 7 is also apparently making Namco more money in the arcades than any previous Tekken title before it.

I hope this tekken is very successful on consoles as well.

I love the series to death, it was my first fighting game

Oh, nah it's just one credit for the training I think.

And yeah, the online functionality is part of the reason that they're making money. If your local arcade is empty, you can still find matches.

huh

EDIT: t-shirts!

Wow!

I wish I could be there.
They also just announced 30k added to the prize pot for Tekken 7 from Bandai NAMCO

Hot damn.

It was also my first fighting game. :)

Honestly pretty surprised at the Mortal Kombat X and Guilty Gear Xrd numbers.
I expected around 700 for both of them, and that was kind of optimistic.

Aren't there like dozens of Japanese coming though.
First ever completely Japanese top 32 this year?

@Dahbomb. After going through many nuisances, DOTA 2 installed

At first, it was running terribly on integrated graphics card for some reason instead of Nvidia. Then, when I switched to Nvidia, the program stopped launching. :/ After much trial and error, I learned that there's a problems with Nvidia's latest driver for the graphics card. So I deleted the new driver and went to their website to install one of the older versions and the game runs fine now.

Gonna go through the tutorial soon.
Black with Devil Asuka, same art style as this year's shirt.

Here's the design from last year.

It's probably going to be an update to the arcade version. If not that, then it'll be announcement of and more details on location testing in Round 1 locations in USA.

A console release seems like it would piss off Round 1 arcade owners at this point.

Though, console release is what I want more than anything right now.

Well, the Smash 4 community seems to be giving custom moves the cold shoulder at this point, so...

Yeah don't install Dota 2 Reborn, that's a beta version of the game using Source 2. It's also a big buggy so I would avoid that for now.

Did they address the complaints from EXVS players during the beta?

So yeah its still the same game, movement feels kind of stiff. But it's also very different from EXVS in that sense so who knows. Mainly they just seemed to improve the UI a lot more compared to the earlier iterations of the game.

Oh and Zeus is ridiculous.

Or maybe a new one

I'm always amused by Baja Blast cans/bottles because there's a thing we here in Finland call Bajamaja ("Baja hut"):

KOF13 top 8 was disappointing, not because of the matches, they were pretty good with Tokido making Xiaohai work for his win, but I have never seen commentators give less of a damn when their game has some of the most exposure it's ever going to get at its point in life. I know Hellpockets was banned off commentary because he said a curse year the year before but at least he puts in a lot of enthusiasm besides, "yea, okay, he got a hit" when both players were vying for hits with stocked resources.

The grand finals were and amazing display of sharp, technical play. The lack of enthusiasm from the commentators was unfortunate (but kind of expected because they weren't folks who do it a lot AFAIK)

I want that shirt.

Anybody with any EVO info that should be in the OT PM me. Would need a list of notables for every game other than Ultra and UMVC3.

XIII was never their game and, if anyone watched SDR, they would have know not to let them on commentary. They are real, but not hype at all.

Yatas gameplay is good, but the presentation is god awful.

I also heard theres already a pretty stupid OS found in the game by NickCool.

There are no stupid OSes (yet). There's some really safe stuff involving parrying, but as players improve those tactics come down to the level of "honest".

i saw a vid of a hitconfirm OS where it always canceled into super/special on hit but never on block due to different timings on hit/block cancel windows or something like that

is that still in? that seems like a big deal

Can you link it?

I think I know what you're talking about, actually. It could theoretically be a big deal, but just like in MKX there's probably very few people actively using it. I can tell you straight up that of the current Yatagarasu players no one is using it.
