Circana - April 2025 U.S. Video Game Market Highlights - Oblivion Remastered #1, Forza Horizon 5 #2, MLB The Show '25 #3

Doesn't really matter. Sony isn't willing to hurt their console sales to sale software. MS and Sony aren't operating with the same strategy in mind that's what you are failing to understand. One company still wants to sell consoles the other company doesn't care about that anymore and only wants to sell as many games as they can. Sony is willing to hurt their software sales in order to increase their hardware sales. Xbox is no longer willing to do that.

Don't argue with this guy. He's a massive fanboy and is in denial.

Sony pays publishers not to publish on Xbox but he thinks they're going to start putting their games on Xbox when it makes more sense to usher that userbase into their ecosystem... He knows the reality of this.

If anything this may make MS analyse their Gamepass stratgy better. We haven't heard anything about a huge increase for Gamepass subscriptions...even with COD releasing there.
Playstation even had more sales this past COD release. Weird stuff.
For me as a player is amazing, i paid only $10 a month and have access to the whole Microsoft catalog. That's the only thing that makes me keep my Series X.

These companies don't care about consumers. They care about money. If MS realizes Gamepass isn't the way for them to make the most money, they will shift strategies again.
I'm sure going 1st party wasn't their 1st choice as well.

That's obvious, still GP is an amazing service for the players.

Here's an even better deal ;)

Xbox Series hardware sales grew?

People better enjoy it.

It's the last growth you'll ever see.

I tried this, doesn't work for me…

This has to eat MS up. They almost had the games, they almost made it, but were forced to go multiplatform right before they all came out.

They walked for 40 years in the desert only to be struck down(to 3rd party) by greed right before reaching the promised land.
Struck down? Stop and think for a bit. They've never had a userbase this big before, they've just gained 80m potential customers for their games with no subscription cannibalism available. They're going to celebrate every month going forward. This transition really couldn't have gone better. They just need to hurry up and release more old ports and make sure Switch 2 gets some as well and this year will likely be historically positive for them.

That's the way business partnerships work. Both parties benefit from it.
Who doesnt benefit are xbox only players, if they knew at the start of the gen that going with xbox will be so much worse vs playstation i bet console wouldnt even get to the current 40m units sold, question is about longterm effects/next gen- microsoft knows they are out of proper console business with that move so what could they possibly offer to console only players in 2027/2028?

Either it stops when the next console cycle begins, or Microsoft doesn't even release a console. Why would anyone buy one if Playstation has all the games?

Good news for Microsoft for once! Growth in hardware and lots of high charting software.

A very nice drop for PS5 too. A bit steep for Switch, but that's to be expected in its 9th year.

An embarrassing look for Sony. Where are the games?

XPC will be the place to play games next gen with Microsoft being the world's largest publisher :messenger_clapping:
PlayStation's businesses model for decades has been to rely on third party partners. Why would they be embarrassed about it still being successful?

It would like being embarrassed that Sega and Atlus games sell well on PlayStation.
They learned from Nintendo based on them having more Wii U titles released on Switch than new games for the first few years.
This never happened though. Even if we just look at the first few years, Wii U ports were a minority of what Nintendo published on Switch.

AssCreed Shadows being the 2nd best selling game still confuses me.

If it was a hit why isn't Ubisoft going public with it?
Most publishers don't give regular sales number updates. EA hardly ever shares FIFA numbers for example.

To achieve more sales. Launching +2 years old games on others consoles is not a bad idea and is not going to hurt the Playstation fanboys feelings (I think)
Xbox Series isn't to Sony what PS5 is to MS. You're not getting much sales porting to xbox like MS is getting from PS5. When some regular third parties are skipping xbox what makes you think a competitor is champing at the bit to port its games there?

If you only game on one platform and call this your hobby, your a chode that deserves to feel left out.

I honestly play my xbox so much more than my ps5 thanks to gamepass its ridiculous.

My ps5 hasnt been turned on since astro bot.

i loaded a few games on my pro last week to see the games and i havent touched it since.

Legit, if ms left the console business fully tomorrow it wouldnt be a problem at all. Leave sony and nintendo to it. Ms fumbled this gen completely.

imagine of this year was the launch of their console. They should have been hitting this kond of release schecule years ago and shit would have been completely different.

imagine, if they launched an xbox with indiana jones then a couple months after you had south of midnight...then the game of the year clair obscure as a third party banger...then you launch oblivion remaster and doom all on the first 8 months of the consoles launch. And then, these are all included in a gamepass subscription.

thats what ms SHOULD have been treating console launch years like and planning for. Not like the mess of a launch they had, hell even first 3 years of the gen.

they completely fumbled and now theyve paid for it BUT ultimately their loss benefits every gamer out there...so, i dont see the issue? Why concern yourself with microsofts console business failings and not just enjoy their sweet games like loads of ps5 owners clearly are.

microsofts gaming business will be so much stronger thanks to this move to third party and they will be able to continue to offer great games.

Jizz cordon is an absolute dumb ass and I love seeing him own himself...endlessly looping and owning himself.
Are you forgetting how much they spent on ABK?
No, i havent. But, what does that have to do with any of this?

Weird how Microsoft has more sellers in playstations top 10 then the actual number of games Sony has released this year 😂

Do you know what consolidation entails?

If I bought McDonald's, Wendy's, and 5 Guys would you think it's weird for ChiefDada to sell more burgers than Burger King in any given period?

By your posts over the years, you absolutely give a shit where anyone plays. You don't care now, because Microsoft doesn't care anymore. What a coincidence.

Show me one single post where I care where someone plays a game or complained about Xbox going multi platform.

I've been arguing for years for Halo to drop Multiplatform, my post history is public I'll wait mate.

My complaints on Sony is what they've turned into this generation as a publisher (lacking) and I'm not alone.

The next financial report is going to be incredibly interesting. An increase in Xbox sales YoY combined with all the ports compared to a period last year where they literally only released Hellblade 2 and nothing else.

If they didn't need to make it back, they wouldn't be going 3rd party. You don't spend $70B and say "well, we're not making a lot of money on the purchase, but at least we got an asset."
They are going third party because Xbox Series sales are shit, not just because of ABK.

But my larger point is that acquisitions are not loans. They don't need to be paid back in the same way a loan does.

So many starving Sony fans, gleefully slurping up what ever Microsoft spaffs at them.
Playstation fans despised Microsoft's hardware, but are buying software in droves.

😅
I'll be honest with you, dawg, no one sees Oblivion, Minecraft and Call of Duty as Xbox games. Forza Horizon 5 is the true and only win here, as Indiana Jones looks to be underperforming ONCE AGAIN.

PlayStation 5 dollar sales declined 5% in April compared to a year ago, but the platform once again led the hardware market in both dollar and unit sales. Switch hardware spending fell 37% in April vs YA, while Xbox Series grew 8%.
Wow, Playstation dropped like a rock.
