Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

This post reminds me, how many people are playing this with experience in other TPS/FPS? I literally had zero experience with competitive FPS/TPS before this (unless Squawkmatches in Banjo-Tooie/a bit of GoldenEye and Perfect Dark count) before this.
I've played call of duty and the transformers shooters for years

essentially none for me. I've played some shooters but never competitively, only with friends. I played some Team Fortress 2 when the Orange Box came out but didn't stick with it because I sucked lol. other than that I've played some Counter Strike back in the day, some Golden Eye, some Perfect Dark, and some Halo.

GoldenEye 64 was basically it for me too. I'm pretty awful at FPSs in general

I've played some TPSs but never for competitive multiplayer

Played a lot of Timesplitters 2 with my friend back in the day, and a little bit of Halo 1/2 local online. Have played some coop online and offline shooters more recently, but haven't played anything VS humans in quite a while.

Basically none for me. Played a decent amount of Goldeneye in middle school, a decent amount of Halo 1 in high school and college (but never really got into them). I enjoyed Halo more for the epic Warthog and Ghost battles than the actual shooting.

Maybe it was just the old Halo playing, but it always felt like FPS movement was too slow and plodding for my tastes. A lot of ducking for cover and waiting around corners and stuff.

It seems they changed the match making - I have never had some many games where there is only A/A+ players. Anyone else notice this? I'm certain the patch might have tweaked the matchmaking a bit waiting for players of similar rank before my games would always have B ranks in the game.

Moving on with Cold-Blooded - this is my new loadout for ranked

I didn't notice any difference yesterday but good if true. Less exploiting the system to gain ranks.

I was a huge halo player and am still a big battlefield guy. I also loved Timesplitters, it's still in my 5 favorite games of all time. I would say I'm pretty experienced at FPS.

Yeah I pretty much only see A+ or A players

Before it was all over the place

Only can play for like 30 minutes before heading to work, but will be on stream late tonight.

I've played call of duty and the transformers shooters for years

Every time I thought about how I wanted to play, I thought of you, and my gripes felt real small. You're a true squid.

Played them all, PC and console, from Heretic and MoHAA to Max Payne 3 and TLOU. None of them play quite like Splatoon. Told someone on stream the other night it was like Nintendo's quake in that it's just fun to move around the map. Which makes sense, since playing with the wii u pro controller made me want to stop playing.

I didn't know you could super jump more than once. I thought it was just a spawn thing.

Learned this in the same game I got level 10.

Last 3 ranked matches:

Get clock down to 10 seconds and still lose.

Again, get clock down to 10 seconds and lose again.

Get clock down to 18 seconds and still lose.

...what the HELL? No more ranked for me tonight.

That hurt. Did I hit you with the bomb when you were using the Inkzooka right before the DCs?

Edit: I guess the bomb didn't get sent out on everyone's screen. =(
To be honest I don't remember, but I think you were using splat bombs so I doubt it because I didn't die near the time everyone disconnected

it feels a lot longer than .84 seconds, it feels like 2-3 seconds

the squid sits there havin a seizure before he decides to jump

i hate it worst nerf ever

I didn't play much last night and I'm not on yet, but in my limited observations the delay seemed to vary. Is that possible? Sometimes it felt like 4 seconds, unbearably wrong and a severe nerf.

Other times it felt like I took off quickly after respawning. Anyone else?

Has this ever happened to anyone?

I get that it is a postbox and that you have to collect post from that but I didn't expect the game to be so literal about it.
A few minutes after I could post fine

Passed almost all my college days with UT2k3/4(THAT demo!), Quake III Arena Dreamcast version(loved the gauntlet, the melee weapon), then yeah, some Halo but only local multiplayer, keep fond memory of these times, and on pc TF2, casually, I no longer have the time for these kind of games :/.

Oh that explains! I had a friend who was gifted with this game, breaking platinum( iirc) records on each game, the gameplay was really something, and it was just cool to spectate.

It was either you or Incite. I was on the right lane (left lane for your team) and someone was trying to inkzooka my face. I think they splatted SM239 or Zero, but I managed to escape to the side in between the boxes. They were still shooting Inkzookas and I thought I heard them move forward (even saw a ripple around the corner), so I threw a bomb. I got DC'd the second it went off. =/

Am I the only one that keeps on forgetting to press R3 for the Special Weapons..?

Probably why I don't score that highly lmfao

Did you just start playing? I recall my first week or so I would barely use my specials or sub weapons.

Nope, I've been playing it since launch so I've got no excuses lol. I guess my brain is having too much fun just splatting with my main weapons. I do use the sub quite often though.

Only played TF2 and a little Bad Company 2 before playing Splatoon. Usually whenever I play FPS/TPS games, I start getting motion sickness after about half an hour. It was really bad back in the day for Wolfenstein.

Splatoon is the first shooter game that I can play for five hours or more in multi. Strangely enough I got some motion sickness when playing octo valley. It wasn't as bad as what I got before, but I still needed to take breaks in between sessions of octo valley.

Lately I've been trying to train myself to super jump if I'm in a situation in which I feel sure I'm going to be splatted. Going back to the spawn and getting back to the fight from there is about as long as dying and getting back, but not leaving an ink explosion and keeping my special meter seems worth it.
