There were definitely some fugly textures in the latest game play demo.

But I'd rather the game look like last gen but perform well. So I'm happy.
 
Tossing the grenade and having her shoot it from mid air into the right position is the most kojima thing I've seen in years
 
I wonder if there's some auto-aim on those Quiet grenade shot co-up super hyper turbo attacks. Like, is she always going to know where to bounce'em, or is it something that's only possible when you're a Konami employee and it's your job to play that demo over and over and over until you get all the angles perfect?

Also, #Team60FPS. MGSV isn't a patch on, say, Witcher 3, as open-world graphics go, but it's still totally respectable looking and the locked 60FPS is utterly wonderful. I'd never give up that slick responsiveness just for some SSAO and higher-res textures or whatever.

If you read the description when he told Quiet to shoot the grenade it states "she shoots the grenade to the closest target", So one can assume in the Africa Demo the chopper was the closest enemy, and in the new demo the group of soviets were the nearest enemies as well
 
Have they mentioned what happens if we leave a teammate behind, as in flying off the chopper without Quiet? Or if our teammates can get killed in combat?

Teammates apparently get fultoned by default if they are injured badly.

I think it was confirmed that buddies can not be killed in combat but severely injured to the point they are fultoned out, however I assume if you try to leave a buddy as well, they will be fultoned out but your relationship with them may suffer as well. If you have good relationships with your buddies it unlocks different skills for them

Like Vire said. I am worried there will be too much of the same 2 locations and not much diversity.. which might end up feeling like the world of Shadow of Mordor. I know I should trust Kojima, but he has never done an open world before.

Also, please get rid of the "Hiya" after every 2 seconds. Or I will just ignore the horse entirely which would be a shame.

Other than that gameplay looks amazing. Day 1.

But he has done a connected world before with MGS3.

those were only sub-bases, there are sub bases and main bases mostly what we have seen has been in small scale and not major. I think the game will offer a variety of bases and skill level for them.
 
I legit do not believe Snake says "hiyah!" every other second on a horse. I mean, if you get up to a good gallop, like in Ocarina of Time you need to press a button to maintain a high gallop. I'm sure the demo player was just mashing it to save time during the demonstration. You don't hear Snake saying it so often in any other demonstration.

Or. Or, we can wait until the game releases to make our judgement on that.

most likely he was mashing the gallop button to make the horse move fast the entire time, quiet on the other hand hope they fix it, let her hum twice to let you know she is in position and done.

I'm hoping there's at least some missions ala MGS4 where there are factions fighting each other.. in this case Russians vs. Mujahideen.

MGS3 being my favourite of the series. If its anything like MGS3's levels, that would be great.

I dont have any issues with the bases. Im sure you are right and there will be bigger bases to play in with all these amazing tools and gameplay mechanics the game provides... but I'm worried if all the bases in the area (being 2 of them AFAIK), it will look and feel the same with the same weather conditions and all in each of the two areas.

well the game is dynamic and you can accomplish anything the way you want, even the weather is dynamic and you can infiltrate during a sandstorm or at night etc, i get what you mean by design though but I am sure it will be varied, esp for other locations such as Africa and other ones we do not know of yet either.

Not to mention that there's a ton of small bases like the one scattered through Afghanistan. We don't have a sense of scale on how big Africa is either. Hell we might even have a third locale in the game. My point being, there's going to be a ton of variety in these missions. Come in from any direction, different approach, etc. There will be missions set in the same bases or areas on the map, that's guaranteed. But what happens in those locations will be totally different from what you've done previously.

Yes, thats what I am hoping for. Atleast another area with snow would be more than enough to keep me happy. Desert, Forests and Snowy mountains. Sounds amazing.

Afghanistan has snow in the mountains during parts of the year, same with Africa.

I have a feeling there may be 4-5 (some small areas included however) total, one also including the building of outer heaven

Going by the times given at the starts of missions, and then subsequent check-ins on the iDroid, it looks like about a 2.5:1 ratio of in-game time to real-life time. Every 24ish minutes of real time is one hour of in-game time, in other words. That's something I've been wondering about for a while now, and it seems like about the right balance. It'll give you plenty of time to do things at the time of day you choose, but still give you a nice sense of variation during a play session.

Considering you said you checked the in game iDroid clock, you're probably more accurate, but the time from beginning of the assault play through (which shows a clock at normal speed time, showing around 5:30) to the point near the end of that mission where it shows a "6:00" notification is only like 3 minutes. That means there should be a 10 times speed ratio roughly speaking, 1 minute of play is 10 in game time. That seems excessively fast, and I hope it isn't the case, simply because using the cover of night inside a complex base could result in sunrise too quickly if you don't speed up.

I remember back around E3 2013 I think Kojima said they were experimenting with a 1:4 ratio, one play hour equals four in game, 6 play hours equals a full day. That seemed a little slow for most gamers though, so I don't know. Slower than 1:10 is what I'd prefer.

As for the general discussion of unrevealed locations, I really hope there are some, even if they are isolated compounds that are like bigger Camp Omega's. Unfortunately ("maybe spoilers" shown in packaging)
the recent showings off of the various special editions have given a good enough look at the map to see that one side is devoted to Afghanistan. I hope it's a ruse, but Occam's Razor suggests that there are only two hubs. Two sides of one paper equals two countries. Could be a fakeout or for some reason the "Africa" side has two African hubs as has been speculated about before.
But I'm not so sure of the chances of another area we haven't seen yet.

I sure hope Gray Fox shows up. Would be kind of weird for him to not show up in this game, since he has such a big connection to Big Boss, and is sort of his proxy to David.
 
As for what they've shown, I feel that they're being very selective in what they're showing. They've shown a little part of Africa, mostly Afghanistan....hrm.

I'm inclined to agree. Personally, I wouldn't be disappointed either, they seem like pretty vast expanses. Angola could happily contain a variety of different climates.
 
I'm downloading the SHQ version as I type this, 6.6 GB file so it will take a few hours to download and process!

Ah, I only went by the first demo with Quiet, so maybe they're tweaking things behind the scenes just for these demos?

Given the latest story trailer, we might be in for some crazy areas.
It could be that there are individual, separate bases the size of Ground Zeroes. Or the demos are very good at not really letting us appreciate the scale of it all

Psycho Mantis
in trailers right? Are they

I doubt she is literally Sniper Wolf. Quiet can't talk and has abilities that far exceed anything Wolf is capable of. They could be related in some way though.

Yes either that or the clock behaves very strange in this game as it sometimes advances quickly and slowly both in the same demonstration. I don't get why they're still messing with the time, maybe it's to keep guard shifts from changing or something.
The assault mission seemed to be 1hr=12hrs, but the others seem inconsistent.

Oooh I missed this.

I think we haven't really appreciated the scale of it. If there's suppose to be over 10 bases in Afghanistan with varying sizes, and the fact that the base we see in the demo is actually quite isolated.....(We don't see any bases in the distance..)...it's going to be a huge game. I imagine there will be hidden cave networks, or possibly hidden locations. This games been in production for what, 5-6 years now? Possibly longer in concept? There is no season pass so it might be a very complete package...
