Doesn't make Xrd a bad game the same way it doesn't make SF4 or MvC3 a bad game, that's just kind of how it is. A lot of people find that to be really fun. I will concede it took BB several versions to move towards a "normalized": approach to keep MUs more open ended. CP is when it became really noticeable but lol power levels and other shit design choices.

glad you added that part because a lot of people will opt the opposite for similar reasons.

I'm already at evo, so you guys can pm me if you want to meet up and play games or have lunch (probably spent most of my expenses just trying restaurants)

pretty sure USFIV will be played next year at EVO

Assuming that SFV comes before EVO, having both SFIV and V seems a little awkward for me. That's why I said it... Besides SFIV is not as iconic as 3rd strike to have it's own tournament. That is how I feel, I may be wrong though.

You're extremely wrong.

SF4 is much more successful and is being played by way more people than 3rd Strike was.

I feel bad for Watson and all involved. I hope the next endeavor doesn't meet as many road blocks. Super Arcade has been the training ground for many players in that area for so many years (myself included.) It needs to come back.

Yeah it really stinks that a lot of cities don't want anything to do with arcades. This was a problem with people wanting to open arcades in northern california years ago. He might have to drop the 'super arcade' branding an go for a barcade or gaming center branding instead.

This dude lives in NYC and yet I've never seen him at any locals. If online is bothering him so much why doesn't he come out to where a large number of people will gladly play him offline?

hopefully he stays away, he sounds deranged brah

Someone asked Watts about this on Kappa and he said getting the liquor license would be prohibitively expensive.

i read a response from somebody who had to get a liquor license.

Right now I think there are only fifteen liquor licenses available in L.A. County. You have to sign up for the lottery to get one and along with your application, hand over a check in the amount of twenty-five thousand dollars.

Then you have to give the city a plan of your space, in my case the shop, including the fixtures to show them where I'm planning on selling the alcohol.

Then I have to send out a notice to fifteen hundred of the neighborhood's residents to alert them of my plans.

Then I have to go to my neighborhood council with the CUP (Conditional Use Permit). There's a division that hears about change of use of anything in the neighborhood. I give a presentation and they give a recommendation.

Assuming it's a positive recommendation, I then have a general neighborhood council meeting, which is where the full battery of people who live in Silverlake have the opportunity to either support me or not.

Assuming I've made it all the way thru this process, which is anywhere from nine to fourteen months, the ABC (Alcohol and Beverage Control) comes out and looks at the location to make sure there aren't payphones on the premises, so that drug dealers and prostitutes remain deterred from hanging around.

If all is copasetic and I can come to terms with my landlord over my lease, for about seventy-five thousand dollars more, which includes contracts, expeditor fees, build-outs and inventory, I might get my liquor license.

And dare sully himself with the riff raff at locals? HE IS THE CHUN-LI GOD!!

Why? He's a Chun Li GOD, he doesn't need to prove anything to you, mortal

I'm saying that the importance is overstated, not that it's not there. The worst matchups are 7-3 and there's not so many of them.

Well there are 1936 matchups in the entire game. Even if only 1/16th of the matchups are 7-3, that's still over 100 instances of one guy putting down his controller as he watches the other guy play. I guess it isn't important, not in the sense that every matchup is flat, but you can practice comfortably knowing your character has a blind spot or Achilles heal in USF4 and play the odds that you won't run into that counter in tournament. Unless they're local to you...and in that case people do attempt to counter pick.

And I don't think 7 - 3 and 6 -4 mean the same as they once did.

EVO GAF! Does anyone know where I can get a sanwa button right now? My LK button is sticking like a son of a bitch. If someone's selling some currently I'd actually like to buy a full set. Or if someone here happens to have a spare I'd happily buy it off you. Don't want be trying to swap buttons last minute tomorrow morning.

Isn't the Mad Catz booth selling gear?

Have you tried taking the button out and cleaning it? I did that recently and got a bunch of grime off, button as good as new.

SF4 will be at EVO until it hits like 300 ppl. Anyone thinking it won't be in the 2016 line up has lost it. There is no way that many people will drop it for SFV which releases April-ish.

March iirc, but yeah, people have been playing SFIV for too long to just drop it.

Things like BB ukemi and the various universal means to do things make it work out better when power levels are kept in check. It's by no means towards universal design as a whole, but when the characters are of similar levels it's not close to how SF4 is. If there were a sliding scale SF4 would sit on the far end of that character based design. BB would sit on the same side as SF4 but not as far.

In Xrd offensive options are absurdly strong and character specific, and the ways to deal with them are specific or nonexistent. There's a lot of "you need to play this MU situation out this way or incur really bad risk/reward to deal".You tend to see character MUs more than player MUs. It's really noticeable with low tier, watch FAB just outright lose to weaker players cause they have a good MU over Pot. It'd be closer to SF4 on that sliding scale.

I remember talking with a '09 BB player about how old school GG players (I am one of them) liked stupid things and injustice (getting crushed by Eddie but refusing to change him, playing Hokuto no Ken) ; whereas new players asked for normalized games where everything that stands out as unfair needs to be toned down.

Didn't played BBCP but I found that the most fun version of BB was actually CT where everything was stupidly fun (played Hakumen with 4 hits combos doing 50% life was so fun, Arakune dives where so stupid). And I tend to prefer Persona over BB for that reason, the game feels more fun.

Yeah, the BBCT version of nu-13 was really fun.

Oh man, I just got my first message on PSN saying complaining about Ken and his shoryuken. And then begging me to move off the character.

Oh man, this is great. Gotta figure out how to upload this.

Siliconera has a new update on BBCF.

There's a new "Exceed Accel" attack that can be executed by pushing all four buttons while in Overdrive mode.
Damn, that roster is looking pretty big.

Those portraits are pretty generic looking, though. Not the full-size characters, the little hexagon images.

No Nine info found. :-(

I don't mind OP stuff, but OP stuff needs to be balanced by other OP stuff. Marvel does a great job of this, and we see monsters like Hulk taking on Magneto with widely different strengths and weaknesses. That's fantastic.

What's not cool is when one character has something OP that destroys most of the cast without effort or thought, or that provides an uninteresting unfair advantage. For example, in Smash 4, Rosalina's Luma lets her get reversals off before her opponent recovers from hitting her. Example:

1) Rosalina and Luma are chilling.
2) You run up and hit Rosalina.
3) Rosalina goes flying.
4) Rosalina recovers before you do, and hits "A".
5) Luma hits you before you recover.

That kind of stuff needs to go in a game. You're literally rewarding a player for getting hit and mashing.
