My understanding is that in the 60s/70s the Klan had a lot of infighting and there really is no Ku Klux Klan organization anymore. There are a lot of tiny splinter groups that claim to represent the "True Klan".
They are. In fact since Obama was elected there's been a resurgence of similar groups.
But really you can't kill an idea, you just have to wait until the idea kills itself.
The same reason why other hate groups are still able to continue thriving in America.
