Not if Xiaohai or Dark Jiewa wins. Those two already have plenty of points and Xiaohai will continue to travel. So if those two wins then its pretty much another case of the guys on top continuing to gate keep everybody else. If someone else wins then it's a different story. Either way it's pretty shady of them to not give everybody else in Asia(and the rest of the world) a longer heads up.

Yeah he doesn't get bodied unless you call not getting first bodied. Kane's tournament results have been getting better and better up to this point. He also took out Chris G at a recent tournament. The only god has hasn't beaten in tournament is Champ.

Neo vs clockw0rk was the reason I got into marvel.
KBR vs CrazyJoe was what convinced me any team with good synergy could win in MvC3 and team big bodies is hype.
I don't think people realize how much Neo and KBR brought excitement to this franchise.

Yeah, some people are thinking he's trying to scam like some of the people he hangs with has actually done in the past.
Personally, I think he just had a lapse of judgment. I'll keep my thoughts quiet on the entire crowd funding portion of it, but let's just say if he was trying to scam (and he gets found out), that is one way to tank his career as a lawyer before it even got off the ground (you know, ethical obligations since one of the reasons being thrown around is to help with law school expenses).

The Neo stuff is boy who cried wolf status right now because of the NorCal crew's long history of trying to scam stream monsters with random stuff.

Having been to a couple of tournaments and being involved in a couple of salty/private suites, the elitism is definitely there if you aren't a pro player. The top players make it difficult at times (this is the case for SF, Marvel folks are always down for playing anyone) for other players who aren't as good to try and level up. Sure you can play a couple of games with them and ask them for advice but they wouldn't think twice about kicking you off the set up when they wanna play a more well known player or just MM some people. The elitism is terrifying to a certain extent but that's what it is in any competitive circuit, you have to earn their respect, it isn't given out for free. However, with KBR's case, the poor bastard can't do anything to change their minds. Having played him a lot of times, dude puts in the work for Marvel. I'm not gonna lie though, he is setplay as fuck, always has something ready for when his combos drop, which is a great presence of mind. The reasoning behind the top player hate on him is cause he doesn't have to think too much with his team, which I do agree with to a certain extent, but that doesn't eliminate the amount of work he had to put in (just like the rest of them) to get good at the game and learn the match ups. Those same players don't realize KBR never won a tournament until EVO here in America since he would always get beat by Justin, Chris and F. Champ convincingly at times and take 2nd place at other tournaments he would go to. Its just sad to see KBR not get the recognition he deserves.

But that's the nature of tournaments. That's one of the reasons Chris G was saying EVO doesn't matter any more than most majors and it is true to some extent. The difference with EVO is you play a few more matches against a more diverse player base but people can obviously get lucky. That's how people like Infrit get second place at an EVO. It doesn't make an EVO win less special, it just doesn't guarantee you're the best.

What I don't get about that salt is, why does the US pros think their scenes are better than others? They should know that they are MUCH better than the base. They should be the ones trying to better it. Champ I seen did some work. Not sure about the other though.

there's some folks who will duck if they think you're a scrub or demand MMs and screw around on their phone rather than play but it's more or less the dudes you'd expect to be scumbags

That sucks, I am really hype for the game. I wonder if the lack of familiarity with the developers, SKill and Cannons, is causing an undue amount of skepticism. Most people probably don't understand how OG these guys actually are.
I think FG popularity is growing on GAF, it's good to see new people discovering fighting games.

Actually, quite a lot of people don't like playing SF4. Or atleast don't enjoy it nearly as much as other games but play SF4 because its the one thing everybody plays.
Ricki has always been a player thats about footsies and neutral. Less about the knockdown , vortex, focus and etc. Just look at her CVS2 playstyle.

Consider the perspective of a top player. You don't gain much from playing with a lower level player that can't win games. There's a time and place for that but it's not always going to be at a major, where people are practicing for tournament matches or have limited time to play the few players at their own level. They're humans with their own priorities. Elitism when you're elite isn't always a horrible, unreasonable thing.

Just imagine if mvc2 and mvc3 were really popular in Japan. Marvel history would be so different. Justin would just be a top player but not the best. Would he be able to even win an EVO?

The theme of this year's EVO is that hard work pays off. Lots of champions trying to coast on their success and fundamentals got bopped by people putting in the hours. Upsets everywhere.
I will say this, I know some people don't like KBR for personal reasons outside the game and I am not going to tell them to put that aside to congratulate him over a game. Nobody should be sending him threats or harassing him, but seriously those people shouldn't be told they are just haters. Real life shit happens outside the game.
That being said anybody going in based on gameplay is pretty dumb.
Also it sucks Neo got hit but the instant gofundme is both sketch and in poor taste.

S2J and Darkrain both made Top 32 at Evo this year. (S2J got 17th, Darkrain 25th)
