Nope

Now that we're into Illuminati stuff when the heck are we gonna learn more about who this guy is supposed to be?
http://m.imgur.com/a/ZrSKc

I think what he's doing on that billboard kinda resembles Gill's Cryokinesis, his arm has ice fragments when he's doing that attack just like Gill. Also, it seems like his hair is glowing (again, just like Gill's entire body in 3S) or it just has a very unnatural white color (similar to Urien, but that could also be the coloring of the billboard). But having a playable character as a stage cameo is not something you see often in SF games.

Based on what? Nothing we know about this character hints at illuminati.

There is no power that 'fuels the illuminati'. The gem thing on Urien's head is never explained other than him and Gill were rigorously trained and genetically enhanced or something to learn the secret arts of the Illuminati (Aegis Reflector for Urien, not sure about Gill). Since they have and research and experimentation facilities (Twelve's ending, Dr. Kure etc.) I don't know if they're using Aztec powers or whatever.

Necalli's name is of Aztec origin.

Or maybe it doesn't mean shit

Where are people getting the "Cody is the most powerful" stuff from? Is that an inside joke that I wasn't around for?

You don't need a gem to be illuminati, he could be like the progenitor or something.

Cody is the most powerful character in Street Fighter other than Oro. He fights with handcuffs and still wins. Even Akuma recognizes his power and Akumas sole purpose for existence is fighting powerful people.

Interesting connection, but this Olmec architecture. Urien was in Egypt in Second Impact. The Illuminati had supposedly been manipulating the course of history for 2000 years. Pretty sure Olmec and Egyptian civilization predate that, but this is Street Fighter and I feel stupider for indulging in story speculation for it.

Haha that's so stupid. Do they at least give an explanation for it? He's just a normal dude right? But he beats the soul-consuming magical fighters? Why is Guy not like the second strongest then? He beat Final Fight too.

The "he wears cuffs and wins" explanation is pretty weak too because:
1. He doesn't wear cuffs in Final Fight where he canonically wins
2. Even Dan can win in Street Fighter if the Dan player is good... Doesn't mean he's more powerful than Oni.

Sounds like one of those Udon writers was just fucking around.

Yeah Olmec civilization predates the Aztecs, but it's generally from the same area.

That and the New Zealand stage point to him being associated to the Illuminati in some form. It's not completely baseless. Then again, he might have nothing to do with that New Zealand stage and Capcom just wanted to show it off in the trailer because it's new.

Isn't Ingrid some space alien that created the SF universe or something like that?

Some quotes suggest that Cody is far more skilled than he appears to be. Given that he can willingly remove his cuffs but chooses otherwise in order to enjoy his fights gives some evidence of him holding back greatly.

How exactly powerful Cody would be is unknown, but if he could stop being apathetic and gain some sort of his former motivation back, we would have a better idea. Otherwise, we just have certain quotes and Udon.

am i the only one who wishes they could see necalli as a sf3 sprite?
i think a big part of what makes his hair look goofy is the randomness of it. the crazy physics nonsense flying all over the place

if he were a sprite where they had to actually hand draw the hair moving around, i think it would actually look pretty rad

A random jungle with mesoamerican stuff doesnt make it aztec, in fact looks like that the designer took liberties and made a wall with some random olmecan head (right side) in the left side because reasons

Birdie wasn't a replacement for a character that's already on the roster

They could change remy a bit?

And like I said also Guile will most likely be added down the road for story with Nash, so 2 reasons why.
You know and i know story dont stop capcom from added characters to ANYTHING. You remember how akuma murdered gouken and bison. You remember that time when sf3 characters shouldn't have been in 4 so disregarded ages so screw it.

I said this in the smash thread, heck asked mod the guy that was doing what you are doing to stop. Stop trying to discount peoples desires because what you think you know, because you actually know nothing.

You dont even know the story you trying to defend with. The story dont even look like the story going to be in the base game based on capcoms comments during the evo thing. Yet you so far in the future you using this as a reason to discount folks characters? You talking strait nonsense.
Remy would be such a waste, it's the worst character in Third Strike.
Twelve

Two, i would like to see modernization of his design.

Yeah it's an Olmec ruins site. I looked it up and that's what the game stated. Still it takes place in Mexico which is where the Aztecs were from. He looks like a Pillar man also which is where Urien and Gill also took inspiration from.

Wiki says is in La venta, tabasco, gotta visit it one day.

Yeah but thats the Olmecan people, Mexicas moved to another place to found their civilization still

TIL that Twelve has more fans than I thought he did.

A sun goddess. Not the creator of the SF universe, but she does claim that Bison's Psycho Power belongs to her.

And that it's a fraction of her own power. And I believe she also "beats" the Dark Hadou out of Ryu? She's just completely dumb as a character
but I really love her moveset. I even came up with one that could fit SFV's systems.

Maybe I saw the wrong quotes, but I always figured that he was just depressed and had a death wish because of what happened with Jessica. He keeps his handcuffs and prison suit because of his guilty conscience, and his death wish is what makes him want to fight handcuffed (and fight so much period), even though he probably won't win. Add in that he's a pretty good fighter because of Final Fight too. Like Guy, who's coincidentally not a super genius fighting master lol.

I don't really buy the "he's a secret super hero that's always holding back to play fair" bit because uh... one the secret super hero thing is stupid, and two because he fights with a knife and throws sand in people's eyes. I mean it's kinda funny that some hack Udon writer did that, but it's funny because of how ridiculous it is.

you seem really bothered by how awesome Cody is

Cody is bored as fuck not some dark depressed dude. I'd buy him handicapping himself for lulz more than because he couldn't feel his soul with light.

Cody's in the same position Sakura is in- they're afraid to change up their look.

Is this just going to be repeated forever without basis?

Sakura's look in the games has always been based on her Alpha incarnation. But that doesn't mean they are 'scared' to change her look. If they were, she would not have a different look already in existance

Nah, Cody's not depressed. Just extremely jaded and burned out from fighting. But since fighting was always a part of him, he can't let it go as well. Self-destructive in a way, but not exactly depressed.

He's depressed in some aspects, but he's bored.

Dude legit says in x tekken the most fun he's had is fighting monsters

Humans bore him

Correction: Humans other than Ryu and possibly Guy bore him. ^_^

I'm on board for getting a slightly redesigned Remy in this game, he's one of several characters I'd be happy to see show up in SFV (Alex and Q in particular being the other two). Him being long and thin but with comparatively large hands/feet gave him an interesting distinctive style compared to much of the 3S group.
Maybe it's been disproved since it first game up, but wasn't there originally some speculation that Nash might have been Remy's father? Nash "dies"/disappears, Remy and his sister are left as orphans, but he somehow knows his own variations on Nash/Guile's signature moves...if there was ever any validity to that, then Nash's return in this game might give Remy just as much story-reason to show up as Guile has. Aside from Birdie's pop-can roll and chain combination, there isn't yet a character with multiple-height projectiles on the roster and combination of reach on normals and range with projectiles puts him in a unique space compared to anyone they've shown so far.

Well guy is his friend, which is an character I like alot as well. An opposition to cody's " i'm actually stronger than everyone " with " I work super hard and hard work pays off" characters

as far as ryu goes, IIRC didn't he bob ryu with a quickness and ryu instantly went dark hado?

Only happened in that Udon comic issue that I don't remember. Otherwise, his quote to Ryu suggest that he's one of the few fighters that don't bore him.

Well if Cody shows up, he better stop playing around and remove the shackles and get rid of that prison uniform. He needs to throw on the muscle shirt and the jeans and go for broke.

Remy is no where near the worse character from Third Strike.
Remy was better than Twelve, Hugo, Alex, Q, Necro, and Oro.

The only person to actually provide us legit leaks about SFV said Capcom is emphasizing the story this time. In addition to that Nash being brought back from the dead seems like it could be ripe for a major story point and who else would add drama to that story then Nash seeing his old friend Guile. So add the fact that Remy and Guile play similarly, etc. I don't see Guile as an initial roster type of guy, but as possible dlc. This doesn't discount Remy being added, but like I said GUile seems like an obvious choice.

He could have the shackles and break them when using V-Trigger :P

You may doubt me.
I may be wrong but I doubt it. :E

I mean karin is like a lock and sakura is one of the most popular characters.

They changed Nash to be a rush down character. So now Remy is irrelevant from a gameplay and story prospective.

Of course you're wrong.

I'm on pins & needles waiting for Crimson Viper's announcement.

Imagine how cool she would look with this new graphic engine?

Er...what? I'm not entirely sure how that follows. If anything, wouldn't Nash becoming more rushdown along with his teleports and fake-outs make Remy's two-tiered style of boom-spam and lengthy jump-kicks more distinct and unique in comparison?

I would rather Guile in the game than Remy, but not sure if I would call Remy a rush down character.

I just hope they make the game tie in with SF3 at first only to swerve big time. I don't want them to be bound by that game. I think treating SF3 as an alternate timeline would free the series.

SF3 is slowly becoming the DMC2 of the SF Universe (in terms of timeline, not quality).. DMC Universe has yet to reach the DMC2 timeline again and probably never will..

Unpopular opinion: the SF3 cast was pretty boring for the most part. If it was up to me, I'd only bring Makoto back. For returning characters, I'd prefer more Alpha, SF1, Final Fight, Rival Schools, Ingrid, etc.
