I liked the part in the trailer where the Japanese man screamed. He was like "aghh whatru yur doring?!" lol Japanese people sound weird.

Do other actors in sandler movies make next to nothing? Sandler costs 20 million + 25% gross earnings.... thats a shit ton of money for 1 person.

Don't get me wrong, I'm hardly interested in seeing this but can people stop trying to say that it's ripping off Futurama when it's based on this short they bought the rights to?

I'm actually surprised how bad the reviews are for this. I went to an advance screening and thought it was more dumb and by-the-numbers than offensively bad like most Adam Sandler movies. It's a step up from a You Don't Mess With the Zohan, for example.

Dinklage said in an interview that has been taking different roles since his kid was born. He wants to do more family movies they can all watch.

It only intrigues me because of its classic video games focus. Outside of that, it looks pretty dumb.

Peter Dinklage's character looks super cheesy.

I used to like Adam Sandler when I was younger but nowadays I don't find him funny, like AT ALL.

The two films I enjoyed of his were Anger Management and Big Daddy.

The way he acts and shouts trying to be funny just grates on me,

Gives all the fucks
IGN gave it a
4.5
out of 10. Full review.

Pixels is the button-masher of movies: brainless, obvious and only fun in short, five-minute bursts. When it's not resorting to cheap, obvious jokes, this Happy Madison comedy coasts from set piece to set piece, hoping you don't notice its one-note characters and ridiculous plot points. But again, this is a world where Kevin James is the President of the United States, so... judge accordingly.

Thought Emoji Movie was good. Take that as you will.
Nobody cares how this reviews that's going to see it. Professional reviewers won't review something like this well because they gotta keep the image that they are film buffs up.. and liking a lowbrow movie goes all against all that.

If you were interested in seeing this knowing it was a Sandler movie, but saw bad reviews and changed your mind.. I mean, wtf... go see it if you want.. you don't need GAF approval or some fuckwit reviewers approval to go enjoy a bad movie.

Please get into better movies, Peter Dinklage. :(

Let's be realistic here: The job market for actors with dwarfism is always going to be slim.

Dinklage, in spite of his exceptional work and well-earned success on Game of Thrones, is always going to have a somewhat limited selection of roles offered to him.

It's bullshit, but it's Hollywood.

So let me get this straight, a feature-length Adam Sandler comedy based on a 2 minute and 45 second short film is a bad movie?

I am shocked. I am astonished. Say it ain't so!

But seriously, I don't see how anyone could have seen this as good. The short-film was good, but that's because it was unique, fun, and most importantly short. You were in, you were out, you were done. Then Sandler and Sony Pictures comes along and says "Hey. This looks like a good premise for a movie."

And they were wrong. Not only were they wrong, but they took it in the most generic direction they possibly could have. And yet, it will probably do well because people... Hell, half of the people going to see it were probably kids in the 70s who fell out of video games as they got older, but remember the "good 'ol days" playing Pac-Man and Donkey Kong in the Arcade and this movie just reminds them of that.

I seriously doubt it will kill at the box office, though. It will be one of those movies that comes and goes and in the end people won't care. 10 years down the road, someone may say "Hey, you guys remember that Adam Sandler Movie with Pac-Man in it?"
"Yea... that was so dumb."

And that's that.

That is as true as it is unfortunate. Dinkledge is a great actor, and it is a shame that his stature keeps him out of better roles.

That said though, it is the very thing that got him his role in Game of Thrones and that is now his most popular role. Hell, he has done more for that character than George R.R. Martin has.

Pretty much. Warwick Davis was probably the biggest movie star with dwarfism prior to Dinklage if we look at actors whose condition wasn't just used as a gag as was the case with Verne Troyer. Even he was reduced to playing Leprechaun about 7 times (most of which were straight to DVD) between the Star Wars and Harry Potter roles.

I remember when I stopped at a gas station/hunting lodge near a Walmart in rural West Virginia, it was stocked with DVDs of Adam Sandler films. Sounds about right.

Just saw it again at a public early screening and everybody loved it. There was applause at the end and laughs throughout. Qbert was pretty much a hit with everyone. I don't think the general public will care about the reviews for this movie.

If movie goers really cared what critics thought, Sandler would have never had a career. And with referential humor being the in thing, I think a lot of people will eat this movie up just for the "holy shit, it's insert video game character here" aspect.

You make no sense.

The guy has a problem with someone else liking Sandler movies, but instead of saying why he dislikes Sandler...he instead links to two youtube videos. It's lazy and make his argument weak.

..but thanks for attacking me instead of me instead of my opinion..

..oh shit. Irony!
How did you manage to rebuff my statement with another ad hominem? Pointing out an ad hominem isn't "attacking" you. Also, there's no irony in it.

The poster you're referring to deferred to the Red Letter Media videos because they're cogent and encapsulate the problem with Adam Sandler as of late. Yeah, it's easier to post the video and be done with it, but it doesn't change the validity of the user's argument.

Adam Sandler is lazy. He aspires to take on "easy" projects so he can land massive paychecks to go on "vacations" with his various friends, and all of them continue to be cast in each of his projects.

His projects as of late have massive budgets and look terrible. The production values of these things really do look abysmal despite having millions at their disposal. I'm sure if we assessed the budget breakdowns, we'd see most of the money went to the salaries of the cast.

The dispiriting thing about it: Adam Sandler can actually act. He graduated from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and delivered a phenomenal performance as the lead in PUNCH-DRUNK LOVE. It's a great movie and by far his best performance to date.

Rather than challenge himself, Sandler instead has relegated himself to starring in films that are crass, lazy, crude, banal, juvenile, sexist, and soulless.

For fuck's sake, GROWN UPS 2 opens with a deer pissing on Adam Sandler's face.

This isn't meant as an affront. I don't detest Sandler or the contingency of his remaining fans. You're entitled to like whatever you like, even if it's universally panned. You don't need to have your opinion validated by the box office tally or critical consensus.

This doesn't mean Adam Sandler couldn't be doing more. Even if you're enamored with his early work, there's a major disparity between it and his later work. At least he seemed to be genuinely trying at the beginning of his career.

I'm disappointed Sandler would rather squander his potential with awful scripts than try new things. I'm disenchanted with the studio system for enabling Sandler and his friends to continue to do the same thing over and over. The diminished return is apparent and yet people allow their nostalgia for his earlier work to cloud their judgment. His work is basically a scam to keep himself and his friends employed.

This isn't to say I haven't tripped over my own nostalgia. I loved SPACE JAM as a kid. I listened to the cassette tape soundtrack so much that it broke. It's a bad movie. It's a soulless corporate construct designed to pander to children while also playing into the nostalgia parents at the time had for the Looney Tunes characters.

I believe that no matter the genre, movies should try to excel within the medium. Aim higher. Try to make every penny show on that screen. Work hard and revise your material. Try to put as much thought as possible into the story. Filmmaking is supposed to be strenuous and challenging.

I know the production cast and crew involved with Sandler's work today can do better, and the audience deserves better.

After seeing kids go crazy over Q-bert tonight I think the movie knows it's target market and will appeal to families. Adam sandler sucks but this movie is more a Chris Colombus movie in the vein of Gremlins than some shit stain like Jack and Jill.
