People are defending Sandler or giving reasons why he keeps getting make films because anytime anything with Sandler in it or produced by him comes out, everyone rushes to shit on it as much as possible and make anyone who enjoys the movies feel like shit themselves. This thread is an example. Most people haven't seen this movie yet, but there is plenty of Sandler/Sandler movies suck going around.
Might not have been your intention. But as another poster mentioned, all you really see here is "Sandler is shit. His movies are shit. Why is he allowed to make movies?". People who actually enjoy some/all of his movies cannot say anything without being mocked.

I think he might be in it for the money. He's got another handful of years on GoT (assuming he makes it to the end), and then a couple years after that when people will still see something because it has Tyrion in it. He might have a solid career after that, or there might not be many roles for him. Gotta get that Lannister gold while you can.

I like that the trailers hardly even show Sandler at all.
Licensing is still so weird to me -- how IP holders seem to totally neglect that being associated with quality productions can be a huge boon to their brands. It's like there's no value placed on quality at all. Kind of typical short-sighted paper-profit-driven CEO mindset nowadays I suppose.

The last good Adam Sandler movie was Hotel Transelvania and that was mainly due to Tartakovsky's great animation style. Otherwise, I can't stand anything he stars in.
The movie looks interesting to me and a fun watch.
I won't pay to watch it in theaters nor will I rent it. I will wait for streaming, watching at a friends or when it hits cable. Movie prices are too high for my taste and those routinely visiting the theater are stranger to me than Adam Sandler fans.

The Big Bang Theory crowd will eat this up. I will end-up seeing this with my in-laws. They adore Sandler movies. I just hope it's somewhat pleasant and not utter torture.

The knives are out because it's the exact premise of a great Futurama story, they just forgot to rip off the funny. It's got the cash and CGI budget behind it but other than that it reeks of lazy low-brow Sandler humour.

The knives are out because Happy Madison Productions has made some of the most insulting movies out there. I even like Adam Sandler (I enjoyed Click) but his juvenile potty humor usually makes me gag (mainly because of my poor gag reflex) and they are on display in full force in these movies. Critics have a reason for not liking Happy Madison movies. That doesn't mean that if you like them, you're suddenly evil.
