my understanding is that they flat out said it was coming to NX and then square enix PR is trying to back peddle on that announcement.

Yeah NX is an undefined platform, and the consumers have no idea what the hell it even is outside of the Iwata mention. so it's the most probable reason for the amendment.

it's highly unlikely their simply considering ,this is all but certain, otherwise they wouldn't bother mentioning it in the first place. It simply has a chance of being cancelled down the line, hence the considering mentioned afterwards (which is essentially covering their backs considering the shaky aspect of this all.)

I guess SQEX has all available information and details on whatever NX is and will be, announcing something for a platform they have zero knowlegde about would be a bigger bogus than announcing FFXV(ersus) together with FFXIII ...

The lack of PS3 version is somewhat surprising to me, but I guess the console version is pretty much geared towards a Western push of the series Square has in mind, though hopefully both the PS4 and 3DS versions make it Westward.

Crazy to me that so many people doubted this game would come to the 3DS in some form or way. There was just no way they were going to let that business go, especially after building up that audience with several mainline remakes and the such. I think it'll be fine, though, after people get over the cross-console nature of the game, I think most people will be happy with this arrangement.

I saw a much bigger looking world on PS4 version during that conference. If anything 3DS version will be very classic Dragon Quest in setup, but looking at how lush and open environments are, i say PS4 version will be lead version, with 3DS being fan service.

dont think Verendus really needs points at this juncture. Pretty clear he is legit and is either real close with a higher up, or is a higher up who is off the leash, to a degree.

I doubted Verendus at first, because he was never sepcific, but yeah, he called too many "impossible" things right.

Not the biggest fan of how the protagonist looks. I feel like Toriyama did a great job with the VIII protagonist, who at this point is rather iconic, but this design feels a bit lacking. Hopefully the other party members will make up for it.

Anyone else get the feeling of how early DQ11 on PS4 seemed? They showed a character walking around in a few environments. Maybe it was just an early build and their current build is much further along. 3DS version seemed much more functional, like basically everything was in place. Assuming both versions will be releasing simultaneously, I get the feeling this is a long ways off.

That said, the DQ fan in me in psyched and I will absolutely get both versions when this releases.

Why wouldn't the 3DS version be further along? Have you seen both games?

It's even reusing existing assets.

Either way, they could easily hold it back for a simultaneous release.

Is being made for the PS4 and 3DS (probably New3DS)

It's a turn based JRPG with a topdownish camera. Not exactly the most CPU demanding type of game. It's quite pretty so maybe they're using some of the extra memory for textures but I'd say it's unlikely wouldn't run on the original 3DS. And given how rare N3DS exclusives are and the fact that they didn't say anything about it I's say it's very unlikely

The likelihood of NX surpassing even the XB1 in specs is slim to none. Nintendo could barely keep up with developing games on 7th Gen level hardware.

If they were planning a simultaneous release of the 2 games, they should have shown a lot more of the UE4 build... I guess we have to understand here in the west that their priority with a Japanese presentation for the Japanese market would be the handheld sku, but still...

Interesting that he also said street fighter 5 was in development right in the next post, which would imply Ono was lying about the reasons why one console has an exclusive branch of the game.
