Gamescom: Microsoft press conference (August 4; Scalebound, Crackdown, QB, H5+ more)

Excited for Scalebound and QB. Wondering ff they would have a big third party exclusive game to announce like they did last year.

Ken Lobb hints that this is not the case.

I'm sure we're going to get plenty of action -it's Kamiya after all- but I don't think action will be the sole focus. I think Kamiya's taking another crack at getting Zelda out of his system, and it seems like the kind of game MS would want a lot.

Could also be something like Dragon's Dogma. Either way the action part is still likely to be more like a character action game IMO.

Casey Hudson is working on HoloLens.
*and other stuff

I wasn't being serious btw (I thought that was obvious with my Oonsk mention :p). I know that a Casey Hudson helmed Halo RPG is a pipedream at this point.

It's probably some kind of multiplayer announcement or something.

Microsoft will reveal how much money they paid this guy to hype it?

A new socially connected multiplayer mode called the "wire transfer"? Hmmmm... I'd like to get in on that.

I posted it to dampen other people's expectations TBH. Unchecked hype leads to GAF meltdowns.

Interesting about that Snipedown tweet. Wonder what he's referencing, I feel like we know so much already.

I'm skeptical cause why would he know anything. Also blew his mind what would be a mind blowning feature? Unless he is just getting loose with the hyperbole

When will we have news about...Phantom Dust ? :'(

When the original is supported through BC, and that's the only PD news you will ever hear.

I hope Xbox does their own conference but I guess there's always The Game Awards to reveal gameplay for ReCore, at least it'd be something interesting to see among all the other crap.

I agree, they could go back to doing there x events but live stream them instead, but if they do that they also run the risk of spreading themselves to thin between that E3, and gamescom, but who knows Sony handles it very well maybe Microsoft could to.

what could it mean? so hyped
I'm guessing him specifying "console world" might be a hint. Maybe they're gonna reveal the near final version of the spectator mode? That'd be relevant to Snipedown as a pro, too.

Ooh yeah forgot about the spectator mode in halo 5.

Hope they have a couple of pro matches to show it off.

Hasn't that already been confirmed?
Yeah, but have they really showed it off? Maybe they're doing some unexpected and cool stuff with it. I dunno, I'm just speculating here. That'd only be mind blowing material to the competitive scene, but that's what Snipedown's all about, so...

Yeah, that sounds reasonable, especially with the tourney they'll have. Snip3down isn't part of optic though, is he? Is he going? Or did 343 just invite more pros out to check out latest on arena?

A synapse wouldn't even be blown if this was the announcement. I'm betting(hoping) on resolution since it's always a huge topic of discussion in console battles and such.

Showing off an amazing spectator mode would be one.

Maybe LAN is another.

What about a $2 million Halo 5 tournament like CoD Champs?

Tbh LAN is good but I can see why it's not included - more work for a small set of people. With split screen out I see even less reason they'd spend resources on it.

CS GO gets away with competitive gaming over online servers. They do have LAN events occasionally but the game play is often different and teams perform differently.

If the concern is getting players connected in tournaments, they could just offer tournament only servers.

Oh god, I'm the type of person who couldn't give two shits about resolution. I don't care if that's what forum kids freak out about, lol. I want to hear about features.

Wasn't spectator mode in the beta? How much is it expected to change from what they had there?

I'd be happy if it was some unannounced feature too, and I'm fine with lower res, but it would blow people's minds if it ended up being 1080p, and I want to be laughing on GAF when it happens.

Yeah that seems likely

Yeah, I think it was, but I'm not sure. Still, maybe they've expanded upon it, adding features and stuff. Who knows.

I'm wondering if i should watch this on twitch. or go to the xbox movile site on my phone because i'll be at a doctors office.

Hell, maybe it is Forge. That'd be more interesting to me, personally.

There was Twitch integration if I recall. Where scores were listed on the side and maybe a map showing everyone's location. I don't recall if that was available during the beta.
That was Halo Channel, actually. Still don't think that's up and running yet :P

But no, Halo 5 is gonna have a dedicated spectator mode.

What in Halo would blow minds off of everyone who owns a console. Any console.

That is what im trying to figure out due to his wording on his tweet. Forge wouldn't blow the minds of anyone who doesn't own an xbox one i think... im thinking something that everyone can relate to. $$$$$$$$

Back in June Frankie teased in the HaloGAF thread (RIP) that Forge would be "SIGNIFICANTLY improved, as opposed to iteratively."

So, maybe that's what we're gonna get at Gamescom? It might be saved for the Rooster Teeth Expo or PAX, though.

It would blow minds if it was hugely overhauled and improved upon. Think of all the amazing level editors on PC that thus far have barely been seen on consoles. That'd be huge. I actually think this is exactly what we're gonna get now. #TeamForgeReveal lol
