does upgrading delete your data?
also..is it still in beta,or it is a final version?
Upgrading retains everything, from settings to files etc.
And no lol, this is not a beta. This is the real deal.

clicking view details and clean system returns that message... I have antivirus on my computer (Bit defender) and I also have Malwarebytes.
?
how's that possible.
my pc [bought from ncix, paid them to build it for me too] came with 8.1 [oem, of course], and i was asked for a serial key.
mind you, i also got the "something happened" error when trying to do the upgrade option through the media tool.
downloading now through windows update anyway - cmd prompt method worked after the 1000th attempt.
edit: to be clear, upgrade option gave SH error, this was me trying the installing from mounted .iso method if that changes anything.

Sounds like you might have a slightly deeper issue in that case, as the installer is just supposed to go through if you're activated. If it's downloading now through Windows Update I'd imagine you're fine though.
if using an insider version should the activation status still read "unactivated"?
Windows Defender will deactivate itself if a dedicated antivirus solution is installed. My guess is that BitDefender is not fully compatible with Win 10 yet. I would remove BitDefender until they update their software.
Malwarebytes should not affect this. As far as I know it does not connect to Windows at core level.
Mine asked for 6GB iirc.
Yeah but need those extensionsThis new Edge browser is pretty damn smooth
Did you upgrade Bit Defender yet?![]()

Mount the iso, launch setup.exe, that will upgrade it - or should, without serial prompt.
Did you upgrade Bit Defender yet?

Oohhhh.....well than if your willing to try free solutions maybe you should check if AVG Free Edition is Windows 10 compatible.I use bit defender free.
As far as I know you cannot remove it. It is a part of Windows. Just a different name for MS Security Essentials. There is really no reason to remove it.Oh thanks! How do I remove windows defender? I don't see the it to uninstall on ccleaner.
Upgrade or fresh? If upgrade - it's not perfect.
Really haven't been following this at all. You have to have windows 8 for the free upgrade right?
So does anyone use Cortana? Feel like I'd rather just google it
Win 7 or Win 8.1
Yes, for antivirus/malware. Not for firewall. I don't think Windows ever did that.QUESTION:
Does Windows 10 use MS Essentials for Antivirus/Firewall?

Has Microsoft released any information on when the next wave for Windows 10 will be?
you can download without waiting. Check OP
Just to confirm, the only difference between selecting "Upgrade" and "Create ISO" (In regards to installing Win 10) is that Upgrade automatically pastes in your Win 7/8 product key?
I kept getting the "Something Happened" error from trying to update via Media Creation tool, so I'm downloading the WIn 10 files onto a USB instead. Is that a proper workaround, or should I just keep trying to upgrade until it eventually works?
Currently on Win 7 Home Premium btw.
This about sums up the last 20hrs or so

Can you run Internet Explorer 11 on windows 10?
Seems the Edge browser only has open new tab/window when right clicking a link, which is ridiculous.

And now here comes the 1 million dollar question, what happened?
Anyone get Netflix to work in Edge? Works fine in IExplore.
