Well, I was just trying to see if we could do something with US + Japan numbers and the usual US split (that's why I specified *estimate* and *in that case*). Unfortunately, this is what we have since getting hardware European numbers (at least) is impossible :lol
Yeah I want friend notifications too, but I don't care about twitch, I prefer watching streams on my pc (because my country blocks justintv broadcasts & all the non-partner streams use the justintv servers), I can use Hotspot on PC to avoid that.
Not to mention that 2016 will be by far their most relevant line up of games, with Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank, Street Fighter V, Horizon and The Last Guardian. That alone is a pretty staggering schedule, and doesn't include indies or whatever else they'll announce at PSX, TGS and PGW. Add a price drop to that and PS4 should have its best year.

As a whole company this is terrible, the ONLY reason this is seen as a positive is because they have been doing extra terrible. There actual money they have in the bank is extremely small compared to apple, Microsoft, google, and cisco, Samsung.
Anyone who knows how to read financials can clearly see that there are segments bringing them down, but overall a company of this size not getting a billion going into the bank for the quarter is bad.
Yes I know MS had a write down, and had a loss for the quarter, but generally every quarter they pull 2-3 billion, google generally pulls 2-2.6 a quarter, apple obviously is on another league.
This isn't a game console rant because I own all three, but at the end of the day a company is about making money, and sony is always on a thin line, which is not good, its still on a recovery path, and sometimes they uneducated will see there lead in games and assume they are a huge company, or making lots of money.

Yeah I'm not doing that at all though, thing is I don't even own an Xbox One, I am a PC, PS4 and Wii U gamer, so don't just assume I'm an Xbox Fan Boy trying to start a stupid flame war.
I have no problem saying Xbox has a stronger Xmas line up though and would have liked to see a few more, bigger Sony games to make it out this year but 2016 is going to be an awesome year though and with all the positive previews it's been getting I think Until Dawn might be a nice surprise, even if it's not the best game ever.
Ghosts is definitely just as bad as Mall Cop.
I get it haha, but it's not good to mix numbers as some of those units sold through may be units shipped in the prior quarter. Also the only sell through number we have from sony is as of March 1st so we can't even begin to estimate how many have been sold through to date (to an accurate level).

It's kind of complicated to launch align PS2 as it launched in March 2000 in Japan and October-November of the same year in NA and Europe.
I remember the first European price cut was in September 2002.
Mind you, there's already been a soft price cut on PS4 as now, you can always get a PS4 for 399 with a game or something.

I think he just means home console.With handhelds, it's not even close to be possible
Edit: i did some quick maths, sony home consoles are slightly below nintento+ms consoles but that could change by the end of the gen. If you add sega, atari, etc... it's an easy win for rotw

Console gaming is still bigger than mobile as of 2014, although analysts are predicting mobile to surpass consoles in 2015 (due to more growth in mobile). Mobile is cannibalizing handheld gaming, not necessarily consoles.
Both markets can co-exist, it doesn't need to be a competition. I don't understand GAF's fascination with hating on mobile as a gaming platform, it's far more convenient than carrying around a second device (Vita or 3DS).

I did but I had it on in the background as I was busy doing something else. Only extra thing not mentioned in the reports that I can remember is that PS3 software is flat.

They will get closer to 40 million if they drop the price to $299 before the holidays kick off.
Also wow at that number. That would mean they likely sold through more PS4s than MS shipped of X1. Crazy how much the US market is not just coloring the impressions of press but also developers and publishers, when in fact it is not even close world wide.

I can't imagine what the sales will be like once the price is finally cut. If they do it in time for the holidays it'll just be fucking nuts.
