I'm actually most excited to see Crackdown. We've already seen Quantum Break, and I'm not super hyped for Scalebound.

If it's just another fighting game I'm not very interested either but some folks seem to think it will be a Zelda like adventure.
I'd be into that!

New UI might be this month for preview members. Considering all the small updates "behind the scenes tweaks" we've been getting lately I expected as much anyways

Also hints at a new entertainment feature whatever that might mean, maybe the TV DVR that was rumoured a while back?
I'm expecting the Win10/new dash to roll out to preview members this month, with an announcement next week.

Yeah, there's been a lot of small updates lately and the same thing happened before they announced BC and I think they would want it out before Halo 5, something as big as Win10/New UI/DX12(?) I imagine they would probably want to give it more than a month in testing like BC so August seems likely to me.

Wait, where does he mention TV DVR? He says console redesign.
I don't think they'd announce that now, E3 would probably be a better time. Or maybe they will do 349$ for the redesigned console and 299$ for the old until it's phased out? Or the equivalent of 299$ in Europe.
As for new OS features, I'm all for it. The more the merrier. Bring more of the Windows 10 goodness to it. Universal apps, TV DVR, hell, bring me Excel and Outlook viewer.

I like the thought of an Xbox One Arcade console aimed at strictly games and affordability. Slimmed down, no disc-drive (ntkrl said MS were looking into it), no power-brick, 1TB, and perhaps no TV-in/out or even Kinect input. Anywhere from $249-$299; maybe I'm just thinking silly thoughts however.

Huh? Scalebound doesn't look like a fighting game at all.

If they announced a redesigned console I'd buy it day one. I travel a good deal with mine and it's just too big as is right now. Although I hope it wouldn't lose quite running.

An "Arcade" Xbox One would be a shocker. I don't see them ever getting rid of the disc slot, though. Just get rid of the other crap.

If they did that and got the price down to $300, it'd be nuts. Then we'd have $250 XB1s available via sales instead of $300 ones, lol.

"an entertainment feature.", I just guessed TV DVR since it was rumoured a while back.

Not sure what he means by redesigned console but I think that's seperate to the entertainment feature, a redesigned console wouldn't exactly be an entertainment "feature" and the way I read it the feature would come with Win10/new UI, not a new console. It's possible he meant the no disk drive ntkrnl leaked.

If they remove the power brick that actually means putting the power brick into the console itself meaning it would increase size not decrease size.

Edit: also let's remember bluray drives are not expensive, they aren't going to save a ton of money by removing it.

Character action or whatever it is called these days.
Those are fighting games to me.
Hideki Kamiya makes them.
Oh. That's a totally different genre than fighting games, lol. I'm not really into those either, but I'm still really curious what Scalebound attempts to do.

PS: Your George Clinton avatar is dope.

Y'all are gonna get a smaller slimmer console with a removable hdd, vertical standing, and more front usb ports and you're going to like it.

But I can buy a PS4 now.

But really, for everything Mattrick did wrong with the Xbox One, he knew how to sell Xbox 360's. Had like 3 different 360 SKU's on shelves, and for a while, the lowest priced SKU was also the lowest cost of entry into the 7th gen.

Baseless speculation, but Spencer could introduce something similar.

$299 missing features, 500GB
$349 standard set of features, 500GB
$399 standard set of features, 1TB
$449 standard set of features, 500GB or 1TB, Kinect

Guys, in August 2007, these were the prices for the 360.

$279 on Core
$349 on 20GB
$449 on 120GB

GUYS

This conference could be the Crackdown show and all they show is Crackdown for 2 hours and it would basically be the best videogame conference of all time.

I hope when they say they focus on speed they mean it. Tried to snap the achievement app today and it took decades and scrolling was so bad it took another century to get to the achievement I wanted to look at.

Needs to be like 10x quicker to be acceptable.

I mean, sure, each part they can strip is only going to save $15-$30 less in manufacturing costs but it all accumulates. Contrasting presumed costs from teardowns like this one (from 2013) cutting blue-ray alone would chip $32 off the system, and would also mean people are locked into MS's digital store for titles, cutting out the middle-man = more profit, perhaps enough to sell at a very very slight loss (super unlikely however); would almost be a roundabout way of re-implementing the ownership element of their initial DRM plans.

Hack HDMI-in off and there's another $10. Remove $10 by slicing off the added bulk, casing and costs from an external power-brick (internalized is cheaper). Kinect slot is probably $5. And voila! Kind of (Haha).. A system that undercuts current cheapest sku by at least $50. A bit absurd as far as strategy goes, but the concept I think is sorta feasible. $279 1TB Discless SKU w/ Gears (which they can basically give away) and two months of EA Access would be a ripper deal.

Maybe I'm just spitballing/shitposting though.

That's precisely why this is unlikely to happen, though - the type of customer you'd be trying to attract by selling a cheaper, stripped-down console are precisely the type of price-conscious consumer who're less likely to be willing to embrace full digital (thanks to lack of trade-in value, etc), especially in Europe where physical discs are significantly cheaper than digital most of the time.

Very excited to see more of Scalebound and Crackdown(and Quantum Break, to a lesser extent).

Gimme some good gameplay, Microsoft.

A little bit over two days left! Here's hoping that this will be Microsoft's first truly great Gamescom conference.

Can't wait to see Scalebound in action and more footage from Quantum Break. :)

Why would they release a smaller Xbox One without a chip shrink. That's what MS and Sony are waiting for. 2016 as well.

A disc drive free one, any money saved would be lost after one purchase of a new digital release. No thanks. There is no decent outcome for consumers unless Microsoft start allowing digital retail sales of games on mass so there is actually pricing competition like Steam keys.

Looks like we're getting the briefing on Scalebound from the man himself!

Would double dip the xbox one if it came with a proper 4k scaling hardware.
So i can make the jump to 4k and not worry about tv sets scaling algorithms/hardware
introducing extra input latency.

You'd like to hope Kamiya works well under the pressure of expectation.

Scalebound has for one reason or another been appointed the chosen one.

create your NPC and the features you input generate your dragon companion who grows as we level up in a never ending story meets Zelda meets Bayonetta adventure.
