Dark Souls 3 Trailer (Gamescom 2015)

I'm thinking of watching the floor gameplay that'll surely pop up over the next few days and then going blind till the game releases. Should make for a better first time experience. Thankfully I will have enough games to keep me busy till it releases.

Haha, don't try to resist

Beautiful GIF. I'm so hyped for this. As for the water, that is strange because I am pretty sure that Dark Souls had water with ripples. I haven't played Bloodborne yet. How is the water there?
Yeah, which is why I find it a bit weird. But it released next year so I'm sure that will be fixed.

I mainly want to know the names of the bosses they'll show.

The names in these games are

I'm always torn between the blind experience and following along with the community hype when it comes to this situation.

:/

Too many visual cues from Bloodborne. I wish they would've tried harder to keep small visual details separate between the two series instead of blurring everything together.

The crazy amounts of blood splattering I found especially distracting. It was Bloodborne's signature, which was part of the game revolving around blood in nearly every corner. Now that it's in DS it has lost that uniqueness. I'm sure they'll have blood splatters on the Playable Character as well, which again was something unique and interesting to the theme of Bloodborne, but shoved into DS because "it looks cool I guess". And the castle in the first shot looks like it was lifted straight out of Central Yharnam.

Pretty much, I liked all the visual variety in souls, Bloodborne was too dreary for me and I don't get people that are applauding that in this trailer.

Walking into Anor Londo was a treat that I never felt was replicated in Bloodborne. Ash Lake, Sen's Fortress, Duke's Archives, Painted World, Heide's Tower, Iron Keep, Drangelic Castle, Dragon Aerie/Shrine, all the DLC areas were all great settings, this stuff looks more like undead burg. Fortunately it's just a trailer.

Each game should have a unique visual and gameplay identity. I'm a little bit worried about these fast dodge rolls. I hope they didn't gut magic as well.

Prowling Magus is a total fucking scrub and sounds like a total badass, especially when paired with the Congregation like a goddamn cult.

The contorting giant boss with the burning sword is the Dancer of the Frigid Valley. It's off to a good start.

So freaking stoked to put this next to Bloodborne in my PS4 library...FROM is amazing! That trailer was awesome!!

I don't know, I managed to avoid most of the DaS2/BB pre-release footage and I didn't have as many games to keep me busy back then :P

I'm always torn between the blind experience and following along with the community hype when it comes to this situation.

Yeah that's true. But then experiencing a new game while knowing close to nothing about it is great. I think I only knew of 4 bosses when I started playing Bloodborne and discovering shit added so much to the first time experience that I don't regret missing some of the hype.

I'm really bummed out by this whole announcement. They're doing the opposite of everything I wanted.

I wanted to leave the speed in Bloodborne as a spin off and possibly backport the really good mechanic changes like charging backstabs

This... this is just sad to see.

Don't be sad. They've only showed what could be considered light-medium weight armours.

We haven't seen any heavy-weight armour yet. Not to mention that they probably don't want to show off a new game with fatrolls.

It really feels like this is what Dark Souls 2 should've been in the first place and I'm one that loves Dark 2 and has probably played it more than Dark 1.

I completely forgot they cut the transformation into beast from the final game they talked about in the interviews. Watching this trailer shows at 1:19-1.21 he transforms. Damn, I hope the DLC has it.
That's gascoigne transforming, which he does in the final game, so....

lol souls threads man

OK, trailer just came out today but I'm already sick of waiting.

Miyazaki, I don't care the game isn't finished. Release it now.

I must talk to the giant bonehead in the basement.

I'd love it if they baited you into thinking it was an NPC. And then just when you get close enough to start talking to it, it squashes you and kills you in one hit :P

Can't wait, bought Dark Souls II earlier today, so when Dark Souls III releases its going to be well accompanied by Bloodborne and DaSII :D

I dont know man, the blood splattering effect is cool and makes sense considering the theme of blood that Bloodborne has, but I would hardly call it THE signature of Bloodborne. More identity-defining is the Victorian Gothic werewolf hunter/cosmic horror theme instead of a dark medieval fantasy theme. The previous games had spewing torrents of blood during ripostes and backstabs, they just didn't stain the floors or your clothing. I'd say its more of a nice new feature that can be afforded by more powerful hardware that just so happened to fit in with Bloodborne's concepts.

Dark Souls 3 adopts some ideas from Bloodborne, there's no doubt. But still, it will be unique in the fact that it draws heavily from both Souls' medieval dark fantasy aesthetics as well as Bloodborne's gothic horror style.

Yeah, I'm watching the Gamescom stuff, but then I'm going on blackout. This trailer already spoiled way too much, as amazing as it was. Either this game just has a ton more content than Bloodborne, or Sony handles marketing much better when it comes to not revealing too much.

Based Miyazaki. This game gives me chills. It definitely feels like there is a fully realized concept lurking under the surface. I cannot wait to unravel its secrets.

Yes, indeed.

That trailer hit all the right notes for me. I love how the vibe I'm getting seems to be a mix of every Souls game they've made thus far; it feels familiar, but new. (The masked woman with the brand is totally a repurposed bell maiden.) I'm curious what kind of returning equipment we'll see.

Oh. My.

Looks like Bloodborne but with shiny armor...which is AWESOME.

So coming off Bloodborne Platinum and having never played a DS game before; do I try my hand at Scholar of the First Sin while waiting for this? Or just hold out completely till DS3 drops next year...

Hold out. DS2 isn't all that TBH. Maybe get DS1.
