Final Fantasy XV 'Dawn' trailer

Funny how this game is full of lookalikes, hard to point out who is who among the redisigning/character resemblance craze.

Expected this, and yet I'm still disappointed. Guys... why don't Square want us, man?

Their E3 announcements + DQ announcements haven't been enough for ya? :(

Man you guys are a bunch of haters and debby downers. :(

I loved the trailer, I rather have them show snippets like this than the usual stuff where people complain about sexy mechanics and boyband look-a-likes.
It's not like SE needs to convince me to buy the game, I already plan to buy it anyways, but a release date would have been nice....

Also I love how Noctis pushed away his dad's face because of the beard itching him I guess.

The trailer was good, moody and subtle, but it felt like a giant teaser. I'm sure people wouldn't be so down if it ended with a release date. If you want people to get excited you need two things:
- A release date
- A new bombastic trailer with new everything (gameplay, enemies, enviroment). People say they don't want spoiler heavy trailers, but at the same time get really excited for them.

Way too old.

This looks like it makes sense but if that's his dad he looks evil. But this guy holding Noctis has blue eyes not red.

Why is no one talking about Mega Man making an appearance in the last 20 seconds...
Well, now it's official. This game really is never coming out.

The mediaeval knights with machine guns and 50's cars aesthetic looks... Odd. Doesn't really work. Still the demo looks cool to me and I'm not a FF fan at all. I'm still hyped.

Is Tabata a character designer too? Legit question, a lot of people who dislike this design seem to blame him for it, couldn't it just be another Nomura redesign? He did change the main dudes a lot (all for the better, imo).

Does the new Regis really look that different? He just looks like a more haggard version of the same character. Trim his hair and beard and he seems like he'd still look like the first design of him that we saw.

I'm glad I didn't stay up for this bullshit.

And I don't get the "Wow this was powerful stuff" comments. You have a woman, possibly Luna or related to Luna being assaulted by a knight, you have a dog that you think is a search dog at the check point with Niflheim soldiers but the dog fucks off away from the checkpoint so whatever, and then Regis holding Noctis and literally cries for 2 minutes while looking super cool with his sword and fancy car. All of this is done without any context. None. We only get cryptic text scrawling across the screen occasionally. Great! Time for more reading in between the lines and analyzing. How is any of this moving in any way? It's just dumb.

Maybe I can see what they were trying to achieve, it tries to be very noir-esque but it totally misses it's mark. Dumb.

Noctis' eyes turns red too though, based on the E3 2013 trailer:

So I guess it runs in the family to change blue eyes to red?

I have the worrying impression that we are going to get a lot of flashbacks with Noctis as a kid. Noctis as a kid is not Laguna, and therefore I don't see a bright future for those scenes :S

Using your brain to infer context is hard work, but sometimes it's necessary.

Well, that could be the twist. The dad starts seeking dangerous forces out of an obligation to protect his country.

I never liked this mindset that something always has to fit a design stereotype. His dad is looks evil so it makes sense that he does evil things. And then someone not too long ago saying that the new Regis design fits more because he looks more like he'd have a son, or something like that. I don't mind the redesign that much, but I definitely don't care for those justifications.

Why would Nomura change the design of a character unless he was told to do so? He's not directing the game anymore.

There was an old element to the story, Nomura said there was usually a being that speaks to Noctis you can see it in the old trailer was talking to stella not the 2011 version the Advent children version I think it was. Red eyes meant because of emotion changes, or I thought I also read somewhere that the being that speaks to Noctis wants to possess him as well.

Looks more like something Roberto Ferrari would (or could) design, I think.

Not sure this resembles a "trailer" all that much, but I liked it. It was a sweet scene. Just should have been advertised as an interesting snippet from the game instead. The one part that was jarring to me was the cell phone alarm at the end... I mean, really? Still had to throw a bit of Episode Duscae in?

Also, a bit ironic that some expected the trailer to be short because SE thinks most of us have short attention spans. It ended up being relatively short, but nothing about the Noctis-Noctis' dad scene being drawn out for ~3 minutes seemed aimed at those with ADD tendencies. :P

I loved the tone and music of the trailer, but... it wasn't quite what I was expecting. Really wanted to see some new gameplay and environments.

Guys it's clearly King Regis redesigned, the other one is the uncle who
in a totally Hamlet/Lion King way
ends up betraying him in exchange for the throne.

More recent example from Duscae when he obtains Ramuh

There's ways to do good story trailers without setpieces and dramatic line yelling.

This isn't a good story trailer.

You're right, it's not a story trailer. It's a character trailer, and it succeeds admirably at showing a loving father who, I'm sure, will be dead within hours of the game starting.

What if someone who was not following the game see this trailer?

I doubt it was aimed at them. It's a snippet from the game preceding an event (ATR) watched mostly by hardcore fans. There are going to be more expansive trailers leading up to release, I'm sure.

I thought that was Pyramid Head, not Mega Man

Maybe it's Beck... No wonder the game is infinitely delayed and crushed a lot of fan dreams during the previews.

I thought it was supposed to be the start of marketing for the game.

Could it be the old guy is perhaps Noctis' grandfather?
I just dont understand why Regis would need re-designing. Espicially with that high quality CGI they made with him, looked like a ton of effort. Seems a waste of time and money, though one could say a lot of FFXV's past has been just that.

Well just waiting for the ATR and really hoping it delivers. Sadly will miss probably 30mins of it...hopefully it'll be on youtube or something shortly after.

What a bizarre choice for a trailer that supposedly is the start of the FFXV promotion. I hope they will release another trailer during ATR, cause this is really not a strong start. Nothing but teasing once again.
